So, here is the situation good people at the escapist. So there's this girl I've been dating for a long time now, we were doing very well and it seemed that we really loved each other. One day however all of a sudden she says her cousin is having a life threatening operation and wishes to be single. I thought that was fine, as she was the worrying type, and she told me she still loves me. Been about a week but we've had very little contact. 'She lost her phone'. Now she is completely ignoring me, dating my bestfriend and is pretending nothing happened. With most of my friends either on holiday or busy, I haven't been out much and been re playing both gears of wars, and been left alone with myself. And now for the question, should I be feeling sorry for myself, should I be angry at my ex and friend? Also, how can I get over her? I have some pot connections but hmm..

I know it's silly, but what about your own self pity stories, and how did you deal with them?

I suggest you pray to every deity in existence that your friend does a similar thing to her.

I'd be angry at her. It's better than feeling self-pity. Normally I'd say you were crowding her but that line, "I lost my phone" is just lame as hell. Move on, find someone better than her.

no dont feel sorry for yourself...

u have the right to be angry at her for not having the balls to man up and break up with you properly... and your friend to agreeing to go along with this bullshit way of breaking up with you... thats ass

getting over her... well this is like a hangover, everything thinks they have got the perfect cure but in reality none of it works... basically its just time... try and find stuff to keep you occupied or hang out with good friends when they get back... people that like you for who you are and you will be over it in no time... pot is not reccommended as it can act as a depressant as well

Agreed. She was just too gutless to end things properly, be mad for a bit and then get over it. Move on and find someone better.

Punch your friend and call her a slut, then move on.

Depends what age you are, if you're under 18 this kind of crap happens a lot. As people age they tend to mature and your true love is unlikely to run off with your best friend.

In before 'exceptions to the rule.'

Eh, shes clearly a ***** so forget her. Your friend however. He violated the bro code. Kick him squarely in the nuts.
The man is right. Bro code has been broken and he need kicked in the crown jewels for it. Also, if you're feeling sad, stop being sad and be awesome. The ***** just needs to be forgotten about. Never let your mate forget what he has done though.

Self-pity isn't the way to go on this one, bud. Anger would do the trick nicely. Anger is good. Just don't direct it inward, and don't get physical about it.

This is weird though.. She tried to spare your feelings (Poorly, but the attempt was there), and then ended up dating your best friend. I'm afraid I don't really understand that well.

Leave it to Stephen Fry to make sense

My ears got lost in his voice, and yet I still got the sentiment perfectly.

OT: You can take the needlessly violent option or the other, more boring one that you don't want to take.

Option 1) Grab the katana you will inexplicably find under your bed. Go to her cousin's house, then commit bloody seppuku (you might need yoga lessons for the katana to strike properly, as it's a big fucking sword). Makes no sense and gets you nowhere, but it'll have the experts talking about it for years, and you'd surpass her in fame. Also, make sure you have a note in your hand saying it was all that girl's fault and you had never felt sad up until that point.

Oh, you want the other option? [sub]Erase her from your life and actions in a non-violent manner.[/sub]
