Could one of my super powers be immortality? Cos if so, yes. I would sell the shit out of it. Actually, on my interpretation of Hell, I'd see it more as a drug and hooker bender than a place of punishment.

The Devil is all for that shit, you think he'd be rewarding you for your horribleness.

But, since we're talking classical Judeo-Christian Hell, ehhhhhhh, I don't know. Guess I'd have to know the full extent of my punishments to make a choice.
What do you do when the Sun red giants and engulfs the Earth in flames? Just because you can't die doesn't mean you can't feel pain and/or be seriously injured.

You could probably swim through space looking for a new planet but I imagine it be incredibly painful and cold.

No. The devil is, well the devil, and chances are that if you sell your soul he's going to be the ultimate dick and wind up screwing you anyways. Faust can have his deal, I think its a bad move.
Depends on your interpretation of the devil... Also it plain wouldn't make sense for him to fuck you over for teh Lulz. If he completes his end of the bargain he gets what he wants PLUS spreading the word to the other mortals that he doesn't fuck people over thus increasing the amount of people willing to sell their souls.

If you say no for any reason at all it's because you fear what the fucker is going to make you do when you die.

Enjoy the ride until then! Maybe by then humanity would have colonized another planet! (An immortal can dream, can't she?)

I do believe the soul exists, but that's another matter. From what I can understand of the OP, they are viewing the soul in the traditional Judeo-Christian sense of it being what survives of you after the death of the body-yourself as a pure energy source, if you prefer-the condition of which determines the rest of your eternal existence. Taking this as a premise, would you still be willing to loan you/it out?

On a side note, how would you get recompense for the damage they did to it/you? The person you made the deal with holds all the cards (i.e. your soul), since your power expired at the end of the lease. Either you accept what they give you, or they keep it forever. Or do you take it to a higher metaphysical court and sue for damages?
Nope, because it's imaginary circumstances and you want to imagine the worst possible case and I'm not. You're imagining the demon holds all the cards but what if we had a contract and it was the kind of demon who can't break a contract it would be different. You're also imagining souls can be damaged. Maybe they can't so it wouldn't matter. How about damage heals over time and to reimburse me for it I take some of their power once I'm healed to go haunt people for the lulz. Or maybe I'd get a friend out of hell or something. Or reincarnation in what I want or with retaining my memories. Depends on what I'd want when I'm dead.

well given that selling something that does not exist is fraud and i am not a fraudster no i would not
on the other hand if it is the metaphor that is in effect while i can see no situation where i would need to break or bend my code of principals i suspect i would given a desperate need

however on a third hand if souls are demonstrably real and the heaven and hell concept is proven real i would be very conflicted cool superpowers/whatever for 50 years and the torture eternity starting straight away or nothing and the eternity of torture starting after ive had enough happiness and pleasure i can stand because eternity even what has been described as heaven seams like a pretty awful torture to me

Funny story, I gave my soul to a friend to repay a favor. He tried selling it on ebay but it was shut down in something like 3 hours.

No idea if he still has the contract though, probably sitting in a landfill or a garage somewhere.

Be that as it may, however, since it's technically in safe hands I'd probably "sell" it if the price is right.

I mean, I'm going to hell anyway, how much worse can it get if the Devil realizes I defaulted on the contract?

It depends on how the narrative defines "soul". Soul is vague, it could mean any number of things, imply slavery, or be nothing(I'd gladly trade nothing for power :D).

Of cause, lots of beliefs have creatures like the Christian devil, various spirits which may work with or against humans, some of which would propose similar deals. But in these instances a god doesn't necessarily exist. So the implications of selling your soul would be completely different.

In terms of Christian myth it's a pretty bad trade. Eternal slavery and pain for fleeting power. Though characters that make the trade usually do so out of desperation for revenge or other emotional reasons, so they wouldn't really think properly about what they're trading.

Villains have a habit of getting caught up in their plans, and when enough things get in their way, they just say "fuck it" and are willing to make any sacrifice to achieve their goals. So I can sort of understand the mindset they're in when they agree to it.

I don't see any sane reason to do it, unless you had one of these trick the devil type plots, so you could get the power, and skip the bill.

And boring. Any idea how long that would take?

considering I am a atheist and don,t believe in god or souls would mean I can make such a deal without any problems.
the thing is considering I don,t believe in those things also means I don,t believe in the devil meaning I would have to re-think my religious views

Well I don't believe in a soul in the first place, so I would be unlikely to attempt to sell it to anyone.

Hm. Selling an "irreplaceable" for a "could never otherwise have" has some interesting considerations. I think what tips the scales in favor of 'no' for me most obviously is the additional punishment incurred for being without the "irreplaceable" item upon some later inventory check. Subtract that I would still lean towards a 'no,' but only because the "could never otherwise have" is probably either 1) something you could totally gain by other means (money, power- certain kinds anyway, sex with hotties, toys, etc.) or 2) something you're not meant to have (superpowers of all kinds) would could be potentially very harmful even accidentally depending on the variable nature of the powers.

There seem to be a lot of pitfalls in exchanging a very much required and check listed on pain of (eternal or otherwise) punishment for anything that doesn't directly offset the punishment for loss and exceed that compensation far enough to be worth bothering with a trade. At least, assuming a paradigm where the soul would have that irreplaceable value that would prompt the offering of such a deal.

Yes, and I've already tried. Alas, Half-life is still out of our grasp.

If I actually could, probably, though I'd wish for something a little less retarded and a lot more greedy. Namely immortality.

Would I? Psh, already did. Some guy was buying people's souls for Tzeentch one night at my local Games Workshop, and my soul was definitely worth the 5? he gave me for it.

In all seriousness... nah. If there was some way to come out of eternal damnation like in that one Simpsons episode where Homer sells his soul for a donut, then I'd probably do it, but otherwise no.

I would sell it for nothing less than total immortality for me and my best friends. That way I never die - and thus have nothing to fear from having to go to hell when I do die - and I will not be lonely - as my friends will be in the same situation, around forever for awesome times.
Of course, I would ask their permission first. Massively life changing decisions you kinda have to.

Depends on what I'm getting... I played a short game of DnD once a few years back at a summer camp (one hour free time a day, seven day camp), and I paid money for an axe, then sold my soul for a massively OP axe that let me one-shot the first boss.
