The Sims 2 - Aspirations and aging brought a whole new level to the simmy goodness

Fallout 3 - So much more immersive - yeah this one's controversial I know but I could never absorb myself in a tiny blob of pixels walking around my screen
Really most sequels aren't that bad. A lot of them are just destroyed by overhype and rabid fanboys.
In my opinion, following every last scrap of information and logging onto gametrailers for the next sweet glimpse of your anticipated game is the worst thing you can do - just forget about it and let the release date roll casually by!
