PMD2 was a work of art
PMD1 was a piece of shit

Clearly the first one was rushed out because the second one needed to be made absolutly sure that it was a dark rollercoaster of an Epic.

No, my good sir, I think you got it backwards, they got worse with every step after Gold/Silver
how?
A number of things. One of them being the adding of attributes that are unique to the pokemon but not the type. For instance, the power "levitate", which nullified ground attacks, even though ground attacks should've been good against that pokemon.

That kind of gameplay forces the player to go out and memorize all of the "exceptions to the rule".

The combat system was also tweaked in this manner in the newer games:

"Physical or Special attack; but starting in Diamond and Pearl, each attacking move is classified as Physical or Special based on how it appears, and not strictly to its type" - From Wikipedia.
so it's bad because you have to think harder? and before this goes any further here is a video I'm dying to use:
that video makes a good point. but then again i only played up to generaion 3 but i am tempted to get heart gold or soul silver.

i do like gen 2 better in some way then gen 3. although i admit the added features in gen 3 make better a few ways too. i have played and beat yellow... never again; the inventory system is a complete mess compared to the other to generations i played and the game has not aged well. it was worth playing once but if i ever want to play it again gen 1 again i will just play leafgreen

as gen four or/and five unless i play them i don't dare to criticize them.

Nope, I'm with werewolfsfury. Black and White are the best pokemon games in my opinion. I'm never opposed to having more pokemon to choose from, it's not like the old ones are going anywhere and it's easy for me to find a bunch of the new ones to like.
