Any Metal Gear Solid from the second half of sons of liberty onward.
The introduction of Raiden to screw with people's pre-concieved notion that Snake would be the hero of the title was genius.
Raiden's character and history of how he came to be was very well thought out and planned.
People like you who whinge about the addition of Raiden really piss me off.
Not to mention, how petty are you to let the inclusion of a character who isn't David wreck the entire game series? The gameplay, story and concept of SoL the prequels and sequels that came after that game were also pure gold. Get over it!
Sorry, I should have explained myself better. I actually kind of liked Raiden and the direction the game was going up until I had to control him naked with his hand over his junk (so I guess about 3/4 through the game). After that the storyline just took a dump and the game lost a lot of its appeal to me. Don't get me wrong, I still rank MGS2 as one of my favorite games of all time, but they definitely could have done a better job ending it.

And I say "onward" because I remember hearing an interview with Hideo Kojima back when MGS2 came out where he said he was not going to make any more games in the series. I can't remember his exact reasoning, but I remember respecting him for it and then feeling kind of betrayed when he sold out and just kept on making them.

And I'm sorry, MGS3 was terrible compared to its predecessors.
I'm curious as to what about Snake Eater you didn't like?
The stamina system was great, as was patching yourself up. Some of the boss battles lacked alot, but the camo system, story, Ocelot being a KGB spy, playing as David's genetic father and how all the events in 3 tied into 4 effortlessly, for me was just amazing. Not to mention finding the Karibo frogs was alot of fun, though frustrating to get the one during that runway fight *shudder*.
Plus it was interesting to see how big boss got his name before that fiasco at outer haven.
Apparently the new game "Peace Walkers" describes how he betrayed his country, and became a mercenary, founding outer haven and turning his back on everything he originally fought for.
I can't wait.

Duke Nukem Forever. So much hype and nothing came out, and i expect that is the greatest game sequel tragedy to ever exist T___T

I also agree with The Sims. My friends love it, I have no idea why, probably because they're girls, but that's besides the point. I think it'd be better to offer expansion packs as opposed to "sequels", as far as I've heard Sims 3 is basically the same as Sims 2 just with a few shiny new extras. I think they should just make like Fallout 3 and offer extra downloadable content every few months and if priced correctly, the profit would remain the same without excluding the attraction of an expanded market.

I love Dune II, nothing gets the heart pumping more than the collection of that precious spice while fighting valiantly for your faction. I never had the heart to play Emperor Battle for Dune, but I unfortuneatly made the regrettable decision to play Frank Herbert's Dune last year, torrented of course, all I have to say is what a waste of download usage. Its been along time since I played Dune, I used to play in yr 5 & 6, thats a little over 6 years ago, so i thought I might try Frank Herberts Dune. I wish I hadn't. It almost brings tears to my eyes when i think about that stupid game, worst 10 minutes of my life.

and just to be a bit trollish, do we really need another starcraft game? epic fail ! just kidding =)

Empire Earth 2. Not that Empire Earth was bad, not at all, but EE2 just sucks so much balls. And in the same vein, everything I've heard so far about Empire Earth 3 makes me hate that game so much more yet.

The Settlers: Heritage of Kings. An attempt to turn the amazingly awesome Settlers franchise into a sub-par generic medieval RTS full of lame "jokes", half-ass characterisation and a cookie-cutter story, and failing to meet even those low, low goals.

I know this post was originally supposed to be games, but I just have top get this off my chest....the Starship Troopers sequels!

Ok, so we have the first one, it was gory, it was cheesy, it was fun, nearly everbody got gruesomely mauled and yet the film never took itself seriously. It was an incredible tale of boyish violence with a spicy hint of self-parody to it. Absolute genius!

BUT THEN...

Suddenly we're left with Starship Troopers 2, a complete B-movie with crappy animation, guns with lighbulbs on the end that simply 'flash' their enemies to death, the worst acting I have ever seen. It wasn't even funny or deliberate! Oh yes, it tried to be funny, but failed miserably.

Then we're graced with Starship Troopers 3....some of the old cast were back, so i thought maybe they would have whipped the director into shape by blabbering on about the good old days. In fairness it started like that. Cheesy Nazi-repulbican style 'Would you like to know more?' videos, explosions, real guns, people getting decapitated by spades....finally they had done something right.

THEN we end up on some barren desert preaching gospel quotes, faith to God and the entire film turned into one great big Christian recruitment video. I kid you not, the end even consists of the heroes chanting the Lord's Prayer and being carried off by robots with uncanny angel wings on their backs (I don't feel guilty about leaving a spoiler there because I just saved you an hour and a half of your life). I'm no anti-christian, but when i watch a film to see bugs and humans flying in opposite directions with their intergalactic limbs torn off, i don't expect directions to the nearest church.

*Huff puff!*

Actually, those were two of the most poorly realised mechanics in the game; having to pause the game and navigate a bunch of menus really broke the flow of sneaking around or a boss battle, and it didn't help that bosses like Volgin had a nasty habit of injuring you with every single hit.

Crisis Core. I enjoyed that game, I really did but, it really has no right to exist. Same with Advent Children and the anime thing they made that is meant to be watched before one plays Crisis Core.

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts

Now I'm not saying that the game is 'bad' but you could have replaced the main characters. Banjo and Kazooie are not low enough on the main character scale to be placed into every genre of gaming. They should stay as platforming icons. Mario on the other hand, can continue being a genre whore.
This. That game made me cry, it raped my childhood.

The last 8 Mario games, Call of Duty: World at War, GTA IV.

Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XII should not exist. One more sequel and the world will explode for some stupid, random reason.

And there's your problem. It starts off like Power Rangers. It get alot better. Your loss i guess.. but it had a decent enough story, good characters, and if you can get past the initial "ewww" of the dress spheres, the game becomes extremely fun and challenging to complete with the sidequests.
Plus Yuna with guns was something really special.

Every sequel ever.

In all seriousness, the world could probably do without any Banjo Kazooie after the first one (the second one was KINDA fun but not really)

Any Starfox game after the N64 one (SFA sucked balls)

The sequel to Resident Evil 4... RE5...
