I don't understand why this warrants super paper Mario "never having been made". It's not like it stopped them from making more turn-based paper Mario games... which by the way, they ARE doing.retyopy said:
Well, I thought Super Paper Mario was great, and it seems we're getting a "real" Paper Mario 3 on the 3DS, so I'd love to hear this "LONG" story.
As for a sequel that shouldn't have been made, I don't know personally. I feel that we can learn from anything terrible that's made, so I wouldn't say even the worst sequel shouldn't have been made. I'm sure that there are some sequels that seem horrendously unnecessary, but I don't think I've played any/many.

The first game is timeless, and one of my favorites of all time. The second is a generic PS1 era hack and slash RPG.
Do not make a direct sequel that has absolutely zero common with the first game.
I'd also say Chrono Cross. Not because it was a bad game, it was in fact quite fantastic, but because its status as a sequel to Chrono Trigger is tenuous at best. As a stand-alone separate game, it would have fared even better, I think.
Final Fantasy II... for obvious reasons.
Although, since I haven't played it, I can't judge it's quality only that the concept of a sequel to a swan song is just ridiculous. And because I prefer Medieval Fantasy over Science Fantasy.

Naw man, FFX was awesome, the intro cinematic was cool. It's the game that got me into gaming. Of course, then my husband played FFVII, and I was in with the FF series. XII Rocked. Balthier was one of the best characters in gaming, and his bunny side kick was the subject of much (deserved) furry porn. ...Anyway. A sequel is something that continues on a story. FFX has a sequel named FFX-2. FFXIII is not a sequel to FFXII, and in fact has nothing in common with other FF titles apart from the recurring names, just like all the other FF titles.CM156 said:

I'd say Dark Forces 4: Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy. Fun game, but it didn't live up to the others in the series. Probably because they switched protagonists four games into the series. And fucking Rosh...
