I like the FF series, even if IX sucked the monkey.
Uhh... No Final Fantasy has ever "sucked". They've all been average to outstanding games. I'm no fanboy, but seriously, if you're bashing 9, then how can you not bash 12 for Vaan. What a whiny little *****. And Balthiers got nothing on Cecil yo.

It doesn't have to continue a story for it to be part of the franchise, and thus, a sequel.
It does. Being part of a franchise does not make it a sequel. From your logic, Halo wars is a sequel too.

Actually, yes. Halo Wars was a sequel. If "followed" after whatever game in the franchise came before it.

Besides this little debate is rather stupid. I'm saying "sequel" in the sense that "it came after another game in the same series".

So if I have to say something then. Final Fantasy X-2

I don't hold Vaan against XII (or anything other than a meat grinder), because you can take him completely out of your party. And with him comes Penelo, who was more than just a nice ass bouncing around the room. And yes, Cecil was awesome, but Balthier was suave. He was all James Bondy and stuff, and he had a nicely animated ...physique. Yes, physique. >.>

FFX-2
the first FF game they couldnt be arsed to end properly, they should have just made 10 properly and given it a decent ending, or bugger it left it as it was.

Kane and Lynch 2.

I usually have this thing when I start a story, I gotta finish it. Two hours into Kane and Lynch 2 I decided it wasn't a story worth giving two shits about.

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2. I had my share of fun with it, but it's not as good as the other games and I don't think it contributes anything to the series as a whole.

I'm just sitting here wondering if it should be 'sequels that never should have been made' or 'sequels that should have never been made'.
I think both are grammatically correct.
I think you might also go for "sequels that should never have been made."

Wild Arms 4,to paraphrase Yahtzee "They couldn't have missed the mark harder if they were firing in the wrong direction and the point was in a completely different state"

Any of the spyro games after the PS1. Only OG spyro is allowed
also go for the obvious and mention Deus Ex:Invisisble War

Is it too early to call out Diablo III for it's RMAH and always-online DRM screwing over offline and LAN players? :D

Bioshock 2.
I had fun playing it, but it seemed like it should have just been an expansion to the first one.

I'd also say Chrono Cross. Not because it was a bad game, it was in fact quite fantastic, but because its status as a sequel to Chrono Trigger is tenuous at best. As a stand-alone separate game, it would have fared even better, I think.
Chrono Cross is worth the soundtrack alone. Sorry, just had to put that out there.
