Name one level Fallout 3 excelled at over Oblivion. Just because you disagree in a vacuum doesn't devalue my argument, you haven't made one yet. If you're trying to be snotty or bratty, then you're doing fine.
I'm the one trying to sound snotty, that's rich. Here, a laundry list of areas FO3 is grossly superior in.
1) Environments. Oblivion's interiors were almost all the same. While this is acceptable for buildings, when the ruins and caves are almost all carbon copies, let alone there is only 1/4 the number of unique Oblivion maps to go with unique gate spawns is pathetic.
2) Story. FO3's main story isn't phenomenal, but it's not laughably horrendous like Oblivion.
3) Combat. FO3 actually has an interesting array of combat mechanics, where all the Oblivion default ones are horrible.
4) Most everything else. Level progression, atmosphere, degree of variety in side objectives(the Dark Brotherhood were the ONLY good side quests)
It astounds me, because so often people talk up Oblivion like it was amazing, without basing that on the out of the box version. FO3 out of the box was a million times better than Oblivion. If you compare the mod content, it's an unbalanced comparison, as FO3 hasn't had nearly as much time for great mods to come out, but there is still a handful. It's also a sign that there are less mods needed to fix outstanding game issues unlike how many were needed for Oblivion.
