@Steak: Yep, that was a direct quote, but you know the funny thing? The liver breaking wasn't what killed him, it was the idiot I had assigned to surgery that fucked up the setting of a rib or somthing, causing the Dwarf to bleed out. Just one of the many hilarious deaths that occur with increasing frequency in 'Shotbird' (fortress name).

Also I have a bit of an insanity streak running through my dwarves; which is weird because I have enough food and drink to last us a seige. At least they haven't been aggressive, they just stop eating and starve to death. I'm down to 55 dwarves now from 60

@Lost: I think four hours might be pushing it a little, but you never know, if I'm still awake at five am I'll get in touch.

Also, are they dieing from failed strange moods/melancholy from friend deaths? I've had a couple go that way, though the biggest killer in my fortress is a bridge I have to retract when I get invaded from the caverns, however when it retracts, anyone on the bridge falls five z-levels, shatters their spine and then suffocates due to full body paralysis, currently its claimed about 7 Dwarfs and counting.

@Zango: Failed fey moods unfortunatly. I go thinking I'm about to get something cool and all of a sudden I have a dwarf stripped naked in the middle of one of my corridors starving to death. I usually keep my bases under ground because of one incident that I tried building up and as that project continued on a group of Yetis thought it would be prim to wipe out half my dwarves from that game.

@Lost: Yetis? Cool, though I've found (to my dismay) that most of my fortresses don't get attacked from the surface, apart from the occasional Ettin, but its the caverns and secretive moods I need to worry about, I've only ever lost forts to invasions of forgotten beasts/demons, or tantrum spirals started by berserk Master wrestlers(that was a bad one, I mean REALLY bad).

@Zango: I might start building a new fortress now that I have disposable dwarves to draft into building right now my fort is built into a mountain though so I just might expand on it; at least until Fun starts happening. All that once I'm done Amnesia: The Dark Descent though; God I am loving that game

And you know what, I'm starting a new fort too, I'm annoyed that I dont get land based fun like you do, either in the for of Yetis or homicidal elephants (long live Boatmurdered), however first I'm going to call it an early night tonight and hit the hay.
