@Sky: I wish I could say that was the weirdest thing I've seen... today. :p

Also, I've always thought that meese were the unholy drunken love children of geese and moose. If I were any good a photoshop, I'd make an example for ya'll. But I'm not, so... that's probably for the best. :p

@Fragrance: Sadly, no. I did, however, get a fair few rares. I'll list them all off, plus the two foil cards I picked up:

Geist of Saint Traft, Angelic Overseer, Daybreak Ranger/Nightfall Predator, 2x Mayor of Avabruck/Howlpack Alpha (promo cards), Nevermore, Skirsdag High Priest, Sever the Bloodline, Stromkirk Noble, Curse of Stalked Prey, foil Feral Ridgewolf, Splinterfright, Elder of Laurels, foil Orchard Spirit, 2x Grimoire of the Dead, Manor Gargoyle, Runechanter's Pike, Kessig Wolf Run, 2x Sulfur Falls.

Side Note: The latter, along with its equivalents, shouldn't even be rares in my opinion. Should have been uncommon.

Some lucky bastard got a Liliana *and* a Snapcaster Mage. I also saw a Garruk Relentless floating around somewhere. If there is a God of Card Games, and s/he is reading this, cut me a little bonus sometime, would you?

@CA Wow, you got a much better haul than I did! Then again I only got to do the midnight draft and the only rare I think I got from that one was Champion of the Parish since the other rares I opened were garbage that I passed immediately. Then 5 out of the 8 people in my pod dropped after the first round which guaranteed me 3 packs and I got a Tree of Redemption, a Moldgraf Monstrosity, and one of the playset of Heartless Summoning's I'll need to make the new standard deck I want to build. And you know, I used to feel the same way as you about the dual lands. Opening a land as your rare sucks, but like the core set dual lands they're gonna be staples in standard for the next year that they're legal.

Speaking of which, I dusted off my Eldrazi ramp deck for the last Zendikar legal FNM and went 5-0 with it to take first place which will get me 8 Innistrad packs next week! The last round I cast an Emrakul on turn 4 for the win! It was probably the best way imaginable to see my favorite deck out of standard.

@Fragrance: I was in two sealed-deck tournaments. Each of them was six boosters, so that made up a fair portion of my rares. I earned another three boosters through prizes, though there are, of course, better players out there than me. I bought the two Grimoires of the Dead since they were only $5 each, and their price will probably skyrocket once they're used by the pros.

You cast a 15-mana spell on turn four? How the heck did you do that? Loads of Eldrazi Spawn production, I'd wager. Also, you could use that deck again in Modern, in which you can use anything since the original Mirrodin block and 8th Edition. Means I get to redesign my Ravnica deck... Yay. I'll probably throw in a few Innistrad vampires and such, along with Olivia Voldaren if I find her.

I think I'll upgrade my mono-white deck for Standard. Sadly this means I lose Ajani Goldmane and Transcendent Master, but hey, Angelic Overseer and Elite Inquisitor more than make up for the latter.

@CA Ah, yeah the Grimoire was a mythic rare wasn't it? Mythics for 5 bucks are usually safe bets. I went ahead and bought the rest of my Heartless Summonings online as well since they're only 3 dollars right now and I think that card will be very powerful in the right deck.

Well, it went turn one forest. Turn two eldrazi temple, play an overgrown battlement. Turn three forest, play another overgrown battlement tap the first battlement and a forest to Green Sun's Zenith for two and get a third battlement. And on turn three I played an Eye of Ugin which gave me exactly 15 mana for an eldrazi spell. It was a good thing too, because on his turn three he played a Wurmcoil Engine off of Grand Architect and was going to play two Phantasmal Images copying it until I made him sacrifice 6 permanents. Actually I was going to make an Eldrazi 12-post deck in Modern until Wizard's banned Cloudpost. And Green Sun's Zenith. I could still play it I guess, but getting all the cards together just to have the key pieces banned really pissed me off so I don't know if I'll be playing Modern anytime soon.

A mono-white deck does seem really good. The human tribe is definitely one of my favorites out of this set and since Hero of Bladehold and Mirran Crusader are humans as well it has some good support from Scars block.

@Fragrance: I see... I haven't seen the banlist for Modern yet, so I can't exactly sympathise, but I get what you mean.

I'm more a fan of red/green when it comes to Innistrad. Transforming is a cool mechanic, plus I'm a huge fan of Daybreak Ranger, particularly Nightfall Predator's fighting ability since it can target any creature, not just fliers. I've got a few other decent cards to back it up, though I really should get four to fill out the deck. Throw both my Mayors of Avabruck in to complement them, along with Ulvenwald Mystics, Reckless Waifs, maybe a couple of Gatstaf Shepherds and Village Ironsmiths... Oh, heck with it. I'll throw in (almost) all the werewolf cards and practice my howling. =D

And yeah, mono-white is pretty good. I just need some form of mass protection, like something to constantly give creatures hexproof or maybe a set of Spare From Evil. Perhaps I should splash green for Asceticism.

Edit: Just finished building a red/green deck with a total of eleven Werewolves, and a fair few spells to back them up. Curse of Stalked Prey, Stromkirk Noble, Moonmist and Full Moon's Rise in particular.

@CA Yeah, even though there's only been one official Modern event, a lot of cards have been banned. They made up a banned list once they announced the format with cards that have proven to be too good, like Jace the Mind Sculptor and Stoneforge Mystic, and they also wanted to put an end to turn 3 consistent kills by banning combo pieces like Valakut, or the artifact lands from Mirrodin. Then last week, the updated it with some combos they overlooked as well as combo enablers like Preordain and Ponder. When commons need to be banned, I think there's something seriously wrong going on.

I think my Innistrad deck is going to get as much abuse out of the aforementioned Heartless Summoning as I can. Turning Viridian Emmissary into a one mana rampant growth seems good as well as making Priests of Urabrask into a red Dark Ritual if I go Jund colors. Follow that up with a Acidic Slime or Bloodgift Demon for 3. Not to mention, busting out titans and Wurmcoil Engines on turn 4 will be pretty sick. Although, if I go with white over red Elesh Norn would make for a great way to counter balance the drawback of heartless summoning. I've been playtesting a little bit with proxies but I can't wait to get my hands on the actual cards to give them a shot.

@Skye: Aren't you already? :)

@Zero: *Smacks Zero's hand with a ruler* No buts! Until you learn not to turn nature's creatures into amalgams of their former selves, you're banned from Photoshopping!

@Fragrance: Clearly you understand how to create combos better than I do. I don't get all of that kind of thing, and prefer to play cards as individuals instead of turning them into super-special-awesome game-winning combinations. Even in Duels 2012, there are some cards that can easily be turned into fantastic combos, but I just can't see how to do them.

Also, I don't think I'm too big of a fan of Heartless Summoning. 2 less to cast at the cost of -1/-1? Having a creature out early means little if it's weaker... It bumps off the smaller creatures in your deck, and sometimes the little ones can be lethal if used properly (Invisible Stalker, Blighted Agent... either one with Furor of the Bitten would be good, but I digress).
