This story is one of the only times I can remember that I got pissed off and yelled at someone. I usually do not yell at all XD
If you remember from the last story my boss made a comment that all of the weird stuff happens when I am working. Well he is completely right and this is one of the stranger things to happen to me when I was there.
So this one day my boss' wife called me into work early since she had to do some work at the hospital. She does that often so I came in early again not thinking too much of it. I only had to work 2-5 but that is the best time of the day since everyone is at work and it's really slow at work so I basically get payed to surf the escapist at a different place for 3 hours. The problem with working these hours is that is when the shipments come in and the people I can't deal with call and it made itself known really early into my shift.
So after about 20 minutes at work the phone rings and I swear to myself (I HATE answering the phone since all the people who call are morons) and pick up the phone. "Elmwood Beer." I say into the phone since that is the place I work at. "Yes is this............ elm....wood.......beer?" This asian lady asks, I was kind of irritated at the beginning since I said elmwood beer before she even asked. "Yes it is, how can I help you?" I replied trying very hard not to hang up right then and there.
"Hello I am from (name of advertising company, I forget where she was from nor do I care anymore) and it seems that your contract with our company is going to end today. So we are just going to need your information and we can renew the contract." She told me. "I'm sorry but I am just a worker and I can't really do that." I responded since being the lowly worker that I am I couldn't really speak for my boss and I didn't know what to do so that's what I tell people. "Oh that doesn't matter, I just need you to tell us some information. Even an idiot can do it." She said after a slight pause.
I have to admit that I got a little pissed at the "Even an idiot can do it" Part that she added. "Well I'm sorry but I can't since I don't know what my boss would want to do." I said trying to be polite like I always am. "Oh that's no good but not to worry I am 100% sure that your boss would want to renew our contract." She replied not missing a beat. "I can't be sure so I can't help you, I'm sorry." I said again just hoping she would accept it and hang up. "Let's begin with, How long would you like to extend the contract? We have many different plans that you could get." She continued seemingly ignoring everything I've said to this point.
"Ma'am I'm serious I can't help you." I said hoping it wasn't in vain. "Do not worry about your boss I just need you to say that you agree and then I will make the perfect plan for your company." She replied, she was really getting on my nerves at this point. "I can't agree to that since I do not know what my boss want's to do." I said trying to break through to her head that I can't do anything. "Okay then let me direct you to someone else so you can finalize this contract." She said either mishearing me or just ignoring what I said. Before I could say anything the transfer music came on and I was really pissed that the person was ignoring what I was telling her. The music played for about 3 minutes until a middle aged man picked up the line.
"Hello this is (I forget his name) and I see that you would like to extend your contract. That is very good let me just..." The guy began to say until I interrupted him. "I'm sorry but I did not agree to extend a contract since I cannot do that." I said interrupting him before he wasted any more of his time. "What? The receptionist told me that you wanted to extend your contract with us. Is this wrong?" He asked a little shocked by what I said. "I'm going to be honest in that the person who called me must have been ignoring everything that I said and I told her multiple times that I could not extend the contract because I am just a worker and I can't speak for my boss." I said trying to explain what happened. "Well I am very sorry that that happened and I will deal with her later. I am sorry for wasting your time." He said very apologetically. "It's alright since I seem to have wasted some of your time as well." I said before hanging up.
I thought that I was now done with that but the Asian lady had other things in mind. A few minutes later I got another call and I answered it. "Elmwood beer" I said hoping that it was anyone but the asian lady. "Hello I just called earlier and it seems that you did not extend the contract, is something wrong?" She asked and that was all it took to set me off. "LISTEN! I told you multiple times that I could not extend the contract because I am a worker and I can not make those decisions for my boss. Please call around this time tomorrow when someone who can actually deal with you can talk to you." I said very angrily almost shouting at her. "But the contract ends today." She said trying to make one last push. "I don't care in the least." I said before hanging up.
She called about 3 more times and I hung up on her each time. I then called my boss and told him about what happened. "Well why the hell didn't you hang up on her? That's what I would have done." my boss asked. "I don't know I was just trying not to be rude but at the end I just couldn't take it anymore so I did hang up on her." I responded. "Well at least you did the right thing and told her to call back but I don't think that we are going to extend our contract with them now." my boss said. "I just hope that she doesn't try to pull what she did on me with Mrs. Marini (my boss' wife)" I added. "Oh I wouldn't worry about her, she can be very vicious when she needs to." My boss joked, we laughed and hung up after he told me some other information.

Ahhhh, I see. Yeah, sadly I don't have a weapon, I don't have the upper body strength to use one anyway. xD I live in a rough area of town, although we've never been robbed. A shop a few roads down got set on fire last year though. o_oTrilbyWill said:
@staika: Yeah, I know how you feel. I once had to get mad at my internet company for not connecting us like they promised too. It took 3 tries before I managed to actually have a go at the guy. Then I passed the phone to my Aunt and ran away like a coward. =P
@sky: Sadly I am also like that. Get all riled up about something, Say I'm going to kill someone, call the person/company I am mad at, have second thought when the phone is ringing, hang up before someone can answer. I have problems calling companies and stuff but I have no problem dealing with them at work. Probably because it's not me they want XD
