[HEADING=1]Serial Killer Round 45[/HEADING]
Murderville Manor

It's a dark and stormy night. The lights and music in the city aren't dampened, if you know where to look, but we are far away from the cities and their charm at the moment.

You are here because of a mysterious invitation. An envelope with no stamp, no sender, and no recipient has arrived at your doorsteps, cordially requesting your presence at the Murderville Manor. Also included, are proof of your dark secrets. What is it? Murder? Smuggling? Bribery? The sender knows what you've done, and they're threatening to expose you unless you accept their little invitation.

Rumors are, the manor is haunted. Rumors are, the manor has priceless heirlooms concealed in its secret rooms. You'll have to see for yourself. The only way off of the island where the mansion stands is a bridge that connects it to the mainland. It creaks ominously as you travel over it, and you realize this might not have been the best idea. But you're here now, might as well make the best of it as you see more automobiles pulling into the lot.

Inside, you are only greeted by candles and dust. In the dining room, however, everything is clean, and set for 26. Small cards on the plates indicate your places. Please, have a seat.

Similar to the party game of Murderer or Mafia, the objective is to find the killer and execute him or her to prevent them from continuing their murderous rampage. The game ends either when the killer is executed, or he has killed off everyone else.

Part 1 - Determining the Killer:
The murderer among you is determined through random chance. Each participant will PM me a number between 1 and 100, inclusive.
Whoever gets the closest number to one I have picked beforehand becomes the killer. In the event of a tie, a random number generator or a coin will be used at my discretion. No player may ask the GM to give them a role, either through PM or publicly. Doing so multiple times may lead to being uninvited from the game.

Every cycle, the killer chooses one person whom they wish to have killed. Because this is primarily a role playing forum, the recently deceased is required to detail and post their death. Deaths are to be contained to one post and should be put in a spoiler. This is done in the style of traditional role playing, although how you choose to die is completely up to you. Just make it clear that you are murdered.

Part 2 - Execution:
After a murder victim has been announced, and their death posted, everyone still standing must cast a vote as to who they believe to be the killer. People who are dead are unable to vote.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!
The game's voting has a strictly enforced time limit. All participants have TWO DAYS at absolute most to cast their votes. Anyone who has not voted by that time will have their vote randomly determined. If I do not reach 80% participation in the vote, the killer will be spared and one of the non-voting people will be killed off instead.
When the votes are tallied, I will PM the person with the highest number of votes, and they write and post their manner of execution. For this round, I will allow accidental death and suicide for an execution, but please include that you are suspected of murder.

Part 3 - Rinse and Repeat:
Once the execution has taken place, the killer is free to strike again in the next cycle. The process repeats ad infinitum until one of the two victory conditions detailed above has been completed.

The process of one murder and one execution is henceforth known as a 'cycle'.

When the Killer chooses their victim, they PM the name of his intended victim to the GM, who will then relay that message to the victim. Deceased players (murdered or executed) have 48 hours to post their death or recruit someone else to write it in the case of bad Internet, a family emergency or another legitimate reason. If I don't hear anything within the 48 hours, anyone may volunteer to write the death instead.

Should a victim, be it murder or execution, choose to refuse to post, they may not be invited back to future rounds.

I want this round to be bit more RP-ey than normal. In the spirit of themes, this round's will be the Roarin' 20s. This includes the Prohibition, the Jazz Age, flappers, the recent memory of World War 1, etc. You all do have, as stated earlier, your own secrets. Secrets you may be willing to kill for. Secrets you may be willing to die for. I would like for you to make a minisheet for yourselves. No need to go into a lot of detail, I want something short, something simple and fun:
Name:
Age:
Sex:
Appearance:
Secret:
Unlike previous rounds, I encourage you to interact with other characters and to post whatever you like. Have adventures, perhaps do some sleuthing of your own. I'd rather have people posting and having fun instead of joining the game to not post so people don't suspect you of murder.

[hr]

There will be 3 roles in the game of Serial Killer:
The Killer, the Physician, the Detective

The Killer:
The killer is the primary focus of the game. This citizen's number is the closest to my choice of number. The killer sends me who they wish to kill at the beginning of each cycle. He or she is allowed to vote in the executions, they can be 'saved' by the physician, and they can die in an execution if they are chosen by vote. Eliminating the killer ends the round.

The Physician:
The Physician has the power to save players from the killer. The Physician gets a certain number of saves depending on the number of players still alive.
- At 25 players or more, the Physician may save five people.
- 20-24 people gives the Physician four saves.
- 15-19 players: three saves.
- 10-14 players remaining grants the Physician two attempts.
- With less than ten players, the Physician can only save one of them.

The Physician chooses who they wish to save by PMing the appropriate usernames to the GM. The Physician cannot save the same person twice or more in a row, regardless of how many saves they have.

If the Physician saves the killer's target, then they live to vote another day. The killer, however, is free to pick a new victim, regardless of whether they are on the Physician's list. The Physician cannot save themselves from a knife in the dark, however...

The player with the number furthest away from my own becomes the Physician.

The Detective:
The Detective is allowed to ask the GM up to three "yes or no" questions throughout the course of the game, to attempt to determine the killer's identity. I will answer them to the best of my ability. The Detective can only use one question at a time, though, and can only ask within the same tiers as the physician; for example, the Detective can ask one question at the beginning of the game, but then cannot ask another until we are down to 20 people, then 15 people. If there is no question asked in the first tier without a notice from the detective, the GM reserves the right to replace them with another detective. I will allow for the banking of questions if the detective chooses to do so.

The Detective is also not allowed to ask questions in regards to the Killer's username as it has been deemed too easy to identify the Killer's identity through this method. Other things such as avatars, country of origin, any information about what is posted, et cetera, are fair game.

The Detective is free to distribute the information however they wish, be it in full view of the public, in private or otherwise until they are murdered or executed. Upon the GM messaging the Detective that they have been murdered or executed, the Detective can no longer inform any players of the questions asked and their answers or who they have narrowed the possible suspects down to. This is extended to revealing the gathered information in the Detective's death-post. That's just cheating.

Whoever picks the number second-closest to my own becomes the Detective.

This should be fun. ^_^

Name: Mortimer "Monty" Belmont
Age: 37
Sex: Male
Appearance: Short, squat, and balding. Monty generally wears a shabby suit and covers his bare head with well-worn fedora. His pudgy face is almost always adorned with a smile that seems just a little too broad to be natural.
Secret: Monty is a low level government worker in charge of the sensitive accounts of the state treasurer. In exchange for some generous "donations", Monty has worked on the shadier deals that the treasurer has asked of him (handling money from bootlegging and mob connections). Lately, greed has gotten the better of him and he has been skimming off the top of the pot.

Ohh, I wonder how this will turn out.

Name: Darby Mintley
Age:46
Sex: Male
Appearance: Medium height, standing at around 6 ft. Quite standard built weighing around 90 kg. He has short brown hair and piercing grey eyes. He usually wears a fedora and a cheap looking suit. He is friendly to all those he meets. He also walks with a heavy limp due to the bullet he stopped using his leg.
Secret: Darby served in the First World War. Through some miracle he survived but when he returned home, he found out that the government had no job for people like him. People who were only good at killing others. So with no job or income his wife threatened to leave him. He took to drinking and one night she just pushed his buttons too far. He smacked her on the head with the bottle he had in his hand art the time. He quickly disposed of the body and waited for what might happen next. This was a week before he received the letter.

@Link: @Nick: Aren't we meant to PM the sheets? :0 Edit: Or at least PM the secret. o_O

I'm not great with the 20's, so I'm just gonna talk posh. =P sending stuff now!

Edit again:
Name: Amanda Von Himmelsblaut
Age: 26
Sex: Female
Appearance: Standing at a regal height of 5'8", she has long, wavy red hair usually tied back by a black bow. Her dress is one of the finest around, made of a silk/satin blend and coloured a deep auburn, complete with matching gloves. However to contradict her fashionable look, her shoes are simple black pumps. She usually carries a small, frilly parasol on the crook of her arm, though never opens it for fear it might break.

Name: Alex "baby face" Schroder
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Appearance: Alex is 6 foot tall and well built. Mostly muscle but still slightly pudgey cheeks and generally soft and young looking facial features. Alex always wore a suit that wouldn't have gone amiss on Louis Armstrong himself.
Secret: As a moonshine runner, Alex has had his fair amount of scrapes with the law, and with other bootleggers. His list of crimes are many, but his most heinous crime was the killing of a child. Whilst smuggling some whiskey out of a cellar, he saw a figure in the dark. Reacting quickly, Alex shot the potential witness, only to find to his horror that he had killed a child.

I do believe that this will be my sixth round of serial killer. Whoo? Anyway, this round seems like fun. The last couple have been a little quiet.

@sky: In all honesty, does it matter that much? I mean, OOC knowledge shouldn't effect character interaction in the long run anyway if proper separation between character knowledge and player knowledge is maintained. Also, this is Serial Killer. I'm probably going to spend all my time trying to reconcile a change in setting with my personal theme. :/

You had me at Murder(ville). Count me in!

Name: Dr. Johnathan Hope

Sex: Male

Age: 23

Appearance: Stands at a rather stalky six-foot three with a neat crop of black hair atop his head. His skin is fairly tanned and though he's surprisingly strong, his musculature and narrow face would indicate otherwise.  On his upper lip is a full, neatly-trimmed mustache complemented with the goatee that covers his rounded chin. Prefers to wear white, long-sleeve buttoned shirts tucked into his black slacks that match his polished loafers. When out and about, he generally puts on a black overcoat and a quality bowler cap to go with it.

Secret: As a doctor and mortician, Jonathan is granted the wonderful privilege of handling human flesh, something he considers a delicacy that is shamefully frowned upon, and not to mention illegal. Most every night, he prepares himself meals that would be the envy of any master chef, were it not for the main ingredients the doctor used. He considers his ability to work culinary wonders with human meat an art form, one too few could appreciate. Whenever his most-valued treat is in short supply, as in no deaths to be had, he will occasionally euthanize a patient to ensure his icebox is never empty. He's a regarded and respected practitioner, and his fear of losing his status add such has made him very skilled at hiding his dark secrets. It's why every funeral he prepares is closed casket, for each time a body goes amiss, he weighs the coffins down with bags of sand, always careful to keep the weight near that of the deceased. He rids himself of the undesirable meat along with the bones by creating fertilizer mulch for the rose garden in front of his practitioner's office which also serves as his home.

If the Gods of fate will be kinder to me this round than the last, count me in.

(Edited for secret)
Name: Richard Arther Westleigh
Sex: Male
Age:38
Appearance: A small, politely dressed man, most people who saw him would think him an accountant. He has a surprisingly young face for someone his age, his face matching his body in being slightly scrawny. Having moved to America only six months prior, he maintains his English accent and mannerisms, putting him slightly out of place in the city where he lives. His job at customs does not pay much, but he manages to live alone in a modest apartment. Seemingly having strong self-discipline, Richard does not drink. His only pleasure being minted cigarettes, straight from Hong Kong.

Secret: Richard's family in England are of the upper class, rising to wealth through the slave trade of the old British Empire. Richard is one of many sent to America to ease the movement of goods from the British colonies to the United States. However, unbeknownst to his family, Richard smuggles more than just alcohol and cigarettes. In a desperate quest for a return to the power his nation commanded before, Richard makes a profit off everything and anything he can get his hands on. Most recently, and most lucratively, is Richard's trafficking of children into the States.

These children become slaves either in hard labour or more often are forced to perform more... personal jobs for their owners.

Age: 24
Sex: Yes please Male
Appearance: 5'11", fairly skinny, light beard, messy light brown hair, smiles and makes a joke when he can but always too awkward to do it, wears a cheap suit and fedora, best he could afford.
Secret: I ain't telling you nothing! <_<

@Sky: You need to watch more Boardwalk Empire. God knows that's gonna help me here. xD

RP round... Okay then.

Name: Sheamus Connolly
Age: 33
Sex: Male
Appearance: 5'8" An Irish mobster who had been with the Valley Gang for years. He hides his messy red hair under a Cuffley cap, and a big bushy beard covers most of his face. Sheamus is chunky, and with big arms trained from boxing and cracking knees.
Secret: Sheamus has been a mole for the Chicago PD since the transition to Capone's outfit, keeping the liquor pouring in from Canada and spilling rumors of hits and robberies to detectives on the street. The bosses would have his tongue if they knew, but if Sheamus knows one thing better than opening his mouth, it's when to keep other mouths shut. He's silenced plenty of witnesses to stay at the top.

And it's up.
Name: Alex Renee'
Age: 26
Sex: Female
Appearance: She stands around 5' 10" and has long well-kept black hair and deep blue eyes. She's a member of the British high class and dresses accordingly; fine polished jewels ranging from deep inviting sappier to fiery seductive rubes held together in gold and silver and silks of only the best quality adorn her skin.
Secret: When she was 24, she gave birth to an son out of wedlock, the son of her doctor. As a member of the high class no one could know of the child and she couldn't risk the child being discovered as her own for fear of the back lash it would have. So in the dead of night she drugged her child with morphine to kept him quiet and slip away into the woods where she knew there was a river. She found a heavy rock, put the baby into a burlap bag and tied it closed with a rope then tied the other end of the rope to the bag. Without sheding a tear she tossed it, baby and all, into the river.
