I have no Abaddon yet :(

My next purchase is the Mauler/Forge Fiend. However, tonight I will be painting "The Chosen" squad. Then my Raptor squad. I plan to run Thousand Sons in the end as well as bring in Necrons. However, that is later in the the league. Right now, I am running a 500 point army that consists of that squad of "plague marines" (proxy), The Chosen, and a Chaos Lord with the Mark of Nurgle. I plan to have that banner instill fear so approaching my ranged squad is tough. But I am still not sure how banners work as far as points go.

I actually use the cream drybrush/ brown wash for skin already and I agree. Washes really help details pop. Iam not really sure what you are talking about on the eyes. WHat I did was use a sky blue to dry brush the eyes, then washed it with standard blue. However, I had smudged and when I went back in with black, it spilled into the eyes a bit and now I have to touch them up again. All of them need small touch ups but any advice on painting is welcome.

I will admit I got lazy and sped through these on the last half. That's why their body and legs are a brighter 'gold' than their hands, heads, shoulders, and backpacks. It is less noticable in the pics. I do have a new gold though called Auric Armor Gold which is like yellow gold. That is the gold I will be using on my CHosen and Raptors.

I love talking about the painting and techniques as I am really into the painting aspect of Warhammer as it is like a throwback to model cars for me. I am mostly working on my drybrushing right now as there is many ways to approach it beyond just a base coat. I have done 2 drybrush layers, a wash and then a another drybrush layer. I love easier/lazier techniques so I like hearing how other people approach it as well. Sometimes people know a MUCH easier way to do the same thing I have been doing like 2 steps opposed to 5 steps AND it looks better.

I will try washing blue over the silver. Currently I dab-wash black on it. Straight washing black dulls the silver otherwise.

@Tizzy: Unfortunately, the killer has already been chosen. Sorry about that.
As for the proxy thing, I think it's related to using a mobile browser. Couldn't tell you more though.

Are you magnetising the Forge/Mauler fiend? If not, have you got a configuration in mind for it already? Pretty much all of them are good.

Regarding the eyes, I am referring to light sourcing. You see, there are things which glow in 40k, and we replicate that by using a bright colour to drybrush the surrounding area lightly as if the light was illuminating those areas.

A common thing is to light up the lenses in Marine helmets; just get your light blue, wipe the brush onto the tissue until most of the paint is gone, and then brush the areas above the eyes and the cheeks; helps those lights glow. WIth Chaos Marines, you can do with the Plasma Weapons, areas with a fiery demonic glow, etc. Look up "Object Light Sourcing", you'll find plenty of material.

Head over to Bolter and Chainsword when you have a moment; they have tutorials and the whole lot, it's a great community.

When washing, it helps to dilute the wash first, and then apply in layers rather than a thick coat, or you'll get a kinda quicksilver look. Unless you want that, like for Grey Knights.

If you wanna do Nurgle, you can mix a bit of PVA glue with some paint to create puss which you can apply to the model; don't use your brush obviously, and don't over do it. Less is always more. I heard a story about a guy who glued REAL flies onto all of his tanks, which shows commitment, but it's a bit far.

If you want to muddy the feet of the soldiers, just get a dark brown or grey (depending on what colour they are, and the ground type) and dry brush over their feet. You want to bloody the weapons? Dry brush (lightly; unless it's Khorne) red onto the weapon, but think about how the blood would splash up the side; not randomly, but in an arc.

If you layer the bright gold onto the dark gold and it's a bit of a harsh transition, apply a wash. It evens it out a lot.

If you want to make a REALLY good black (it's a pain in the arse though), base coat them black, then drybrush grey, then wash it black twice. A few grey highlights and you've got black armour with depths and angles.

I'm going to be honest with you; Fear is near pointless at the moment (and since 2nd), because everyone has Fearless or Leadership 10, and no one assaults. Take the banner for the looks, but don't pay the points for it; get the Fearless instead

If you want help with a list, or anything, let me know. And like you, I am a painter and hobbyist before a player, and I love the look of GeeDubs.

@Caramel Frappe: Now, I'm wondering what a communist shark would look like...
Is that a subtle way to ask who the Lawyer is?

Sharks make terrible lawyers...

Now, attorneys on the other hand... They could possibly sink their teeth into that line of work...

The Communist sure is taking his/her damn time to pick a Lawyer. :|

@Caramel: The round has already started and Tizzy can't exactly play before the proxy thing isn't fixed. So I don't think so.

Hello. You will most likely die. Just thought it's worth pointing out.

Sure seems like it. It once again shows that communism is for the lazy and if adopted it would harm society as a whole. Hence why we should eradicate that mutant abomination to stop the spread of their laziness throughout the population.

@Aero: Sorry, the wait is on my end. I've spent the day in the car travelling back to Uni. Normal service will resume tomorrow, I promise. Anyway, the communist has chosen a Lawyer now, so roles can be sent out. The game has now begun, people!

Hmm, I've not tried it. I don't get invited to many birthday parties, you see.

Oh, wait, you mean right now? Umm, I don't want to die right now. I have too low a clearance to die.

I have a feeling I'm gonna get killed pretty early for my role last round.

C'est la vie.

Heck last Round, people executed username suck's boyfriend because only the Killer would kill their closest friend / lover right?

Was that ever confirmed to be their reasoning? Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but I like to think everyone RNG'd and it just came out that way.

But sadly, there is some kind of twisted logic to it.
