Chrome was running alone in the woods. He always felt peace when he was in the woods, but something was wrong. He was being followed. The killer wasn't very good at concealing himself, making more noise then a bulldozer. Chrome knew the woods much better than his killer though and he used it to his advantage. Dodging between trees, ducking through brush, and jumping from rock to rock over swampy sections.
He heard his killer behind him still though, gaining on him slowly. Chrome was starting to get out of breath, he never was a very good runner. He decided that there was only one way he would survive.
He kicked off his shoes, which would only slow him down. He pulled the hood of his sweatshirt over his head and zipped up the front. He was coming up to the swamp and as he did he rushed straight the brush, hoping to slow his pursuer enough. As he reached the swamp he stepped in and lowered himself. Lying on his stomach, he covered himself in mud, moss and grass. He slowly reached into his sweatshirt pocket, pulling out a small package. He pulled it opened and held the gleaming shuriken in his hand. He brought his hand back under the mud and watched, waiting.
After a minute a figure worked their way out from the brush. They looked around and said something to themselves. It was at that moment that Chrome knew who the killer was. If he could take the killer out then he would be a hero. He focused hard. He had never tried to hit a moving target before. He slowly brought his arm back and raised it out of the mud. Quickly he brought his wrist forward and flicked his wrist. The shuriken sped through the air and hit it's target in the leg.
Chrome acted fast. Lunging out of the mud towards the figure, becoming the predator rather than the prey. He swung his fist at the killers head but they ducked and landed a blow to his groin. "Fu..." Chrome groaned as he fell to the ground. He pulled the shuriken out of the killer's leg and stabbed. It didn't do any good though. The killer pulled the shuriken out of Chrome's hand and with a quick flick of the wrist, flung it into Chrome's throat.
He felt his life slipping away and he closed his eyes. Finally at peace.
