(Serious?) Left 4 Dead 2 Steam problem

First a bit of backstory;

Last Saturday (the 8th of October) I tried to launch Left 4 Dead 2 after not playing it for two weeks. But before launching, Steam had to "validate files 1 of 1". Ok, I thought, after all it's reasnoble to update a game after a, well, update not to mention I didn't play it for half a month. Yet, after coming to around 50% a new window poped up claming that the Steam servers are too busy. Alrighty, I thought. I'll just try again tomorrow and what'd ya know, SAME PROBLEM. So the same day I wrote a letter to Steam Support. It's pretty long and it basicly explains this scenario so I won't copy paste it. It's been 5 days since then and I still haven't gotten a reply. I tried to change the download region, it didn't work. I uninstalled the game and now it won't even install again (same reason - servers are too busy).

This is starting to get pretty anoying. My other Steam games work just fine and my internet connection is great so I don't know what could be causing the problem. Or maybe in Valve time, "try again in a few minutes" really means "try again in a few months" or something.

So, any ideas on what should I do?

Wait and keep trying. That's what I would do...

And valve tends to be slow at everything (episode 3 anyone? No? A few years maybe?)

the steam support is useless... really I once had a game that dind't run (SH4) and after waiting for days steam sended me a automated email saying that I should run the Sync option and reboot my system.......

As for your problem, waiting is the best method to solve steam problems.

Don't bother with Steam support (it's basically the only complaint I have against Steam and Valve, ironically); try the Steam forums instead.

If someone hasn't had the problem already then someone will likely know how to fix it.

And assuming you've got auto-updates on and you log in to Steam regularly, then your games should update without you starting them up.
