Seriously, What with the lack of futuristic rpgs?
I will grant you the following:
1)Mid evil Times are fun
2)Generic magic caster is generic
but nevermind them.
I'm tired of the whole "I can make lighting rain down all around me, but if you metion light bulbs i will stare in awe."

Can anyone recommend me a futuristic rpg?

Well, if you hate swords, bows, and magic that much, Kotor I and II are really good games. Replace the swords with vibro blades and lightsabers, replace bows with guns, and replace magic with crazy jedi shat.

Mass Effect
Dues Ex
System Shock

That's just off the top of my head, but it shouldn't be hard to find more.

Exactly. And also: Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and possibly Fallout 3.

Fallout series
Mass Effect
Dues Ex
System Shock
K.O.T.O.R. 1 and 2
Star Ocean series
The World Ends With You
Chrono Trigger (takes place in all eras)
several Final Fantasy games
Earthbound

there are plenty to pick from, not sure why you think there's a shortage.

Obviously the answer is to campaign for more steampunk.
Yup. I think it's all we can do, now.

*imagines a world of plentiful steampunk games, with myself being heralded as a visionary for having brought on the Golden Age of Gaming*

Yep! I see no other possible outcome.

I recommend Starcraft because they managed to make full rpgs, tower defenses, party games, and a good rts for like 20 bucks. Crazy level editor is crazy.

Western developers are pretty good at scifi RPGs.
The Japanese, not so much.
Of all the RPG's I've regret buying, only one of them wasn't scifi.
Man, Xenosaga 2 and Rouge Galaxy sucked.
