That actually sounds pretty great, I remember loving the Flintstones back when I was a kid and it aired on Cartoon Network. It doesn't seem to have aged that well though.

So I'm all for it!

So the modern master of overrated, unfunny animated shows gets a crack at the ORIGINAL overrated, unfunny animated show.

Makes perfect sense.
dammit, now I need to wipe my drink off the screen. You slay me sir.

In my humble opinion, while I've never found the Flintstones to be particularly funny, they are from a different time, meant to entertain a culture that while very similar to ours was also quite different, and the Flintstones was well received at the time.

I do not think it wise of MacFarlane to reboot this series. While the premise is hardly something MacFarlane hasn't used, I feel his crude humor, while it would be fine for the show if it wasn't a reboot of an old show, will just not mesh well with a well-known classic series.

So much hate for someone who is funny, and who makes funny shows. Ive seen and heard too much laughter from his stuff to beliebe otherwise. And people are so smug against Family Guy. "Oh no, they care more about putting in more jokes than a solely linear plot"

I am not for this idea though. Id rather he just revive Johnny Bravo.

Why even reboot that show in the first place? It doesn't need rebooting. It's fine being done and over with with reruns available for those who want them.

But to add insult to injury, they give it to Seth MacFarlane? That's just great. I wonder how they're going to explain Fred suddenly growing balls on his chin and randomly having a teenage idiot son. Oh wait, they won't, because they'll be too distracted by all the completely random cutaway gags that aren't funny.

Just another thing to add to the list of why Fox is a horrible network, I guess.

Pudgy, dense male lead with an overly attractive and somewhat reasonable wife, a son and a daughter who are both communicative babies instead of a son and a daughter and a baby, and an oddly anthropomorphic pet/friend who is, against all reason accepted as normal by society at large. I see why they gave it to him.
Fred only has a daughter. The male baby is his friend Barney's son.

Well, if I thought he and his shows were funny, I wouldn't hate the shows, would I? But I don't find them funny, so I do hate them. Simple concept.

Wasn't the Flinstones rapped up pretty well with Pebbles and Bam Bam's wedding? So let me get this straight this guy who is arguably leftist (it comes through in his shows) is going to make a show that was more satirical on Gender roles. Owe freaking great.

This is going to suck more than that time I had to (Insert piss poor joke)

(insert okay but not funny clip)

Was he seriously the only one we could have gotten? Thank you operation paperclip or whatever crappy social engineering project the CIA has cooked up.

You know I used to like Family guy but then I realized that it was lame. Same with South Park really. This happened around the same time I began reading more too. No joke on that.

To be honest, I greatly enjoy South Park (It maintains a good sense of satire) and I enjoy both Family Guy and the Simpsons. I just feel that MacFarlane just needs to get focused on just one or two shows, and quit branching out like this, because the quality of all his shows suffer then.

Honestly, the only show of his I can even vouch for is American Dad. That is to say it is the only one I look forward to each week. Family Guy has a few good moments (nothing worth buying a DVD set), but it's since devolved into routine antics and tired in-jokes. The Cleveland Show feels like Family Guy-lite, lackluster at its best and full of jokes that I suspect were rejected ones from Family Guy that didn't make the cut (and if that's not a scary thought, I don't know what is). I've only ever watched it on Hulu thus far (more out of clinical interest than for entertainment) and the best explanation I've come up with so far for its existence is contractual obligation.

Suffice to say, I don't really have high hopes for this latest project. I'll give it the benefit of a doubt for now, but I don't think I'd be too far off surmising that it'd probably something like Dane Cook making caveman and rock puns.

Back when Family guy was still funny they had to fight to avoid cancellation every year. Now they can't stop giving him new shows. American Dad was funny for a bit, but with 3 shows of the same crap formula it has completely murdered that line up.

Well at least there's still South Park, and new Beavis and Butthead coming apparently too. Mike Judge is awesome, was sad that King of the Hill ended, but even The Goode Family is better than the Cleveland Show. Don't know why it never caught on.

Who knows how this will turn out. It could be interesting, I watched a lot of the Flintstones when I was a kid.

I actually have been liking the Cleveland show lately, at least this last season. They seemed to be going out there with the jokes without explaining them in many of the episodes, and it is those episodes that I like.

Example: Cleveland Jr. uses telekinesis to break a glass pitcher. It was out there, they didn't explain it, and that is what they liked about it.

Also in one episode Rallo, wonders what older people do downstairs when he goes to bed, and then he hears that Cleveland and Jr. are going to have a Komodo dragon and a tiger fight in the living room, then apparently both animals grow wings and Cleveland and Jr. ride off into the night sky. You don't actually see the whole thing, after Rallo hears what's going on he sees the two of them out his window, flying away.

It is stuff like that that I find funny. If it was explained as not actually real in the realm of the show or was put in some flashback where people obviously know that the story is being highly exaggerated, then I wouldn't find it funny.

Family Guy stopped being funny a long time ago, American Dad however is still good for a chuckle. I'll be interested to see what he does with the Flintstones.

Maybe if it was the 1990s I would be okay with this, but now he's the biggest hack in Hollywood.

How does this guy keep getting money to make shows? He's not funny anymore, hell, I laugh at a lot of things, I'm like a laughter whore, but McFarlane is just terrible.
I don't know, his comedy has become horribly hit and miss. It used to be funny largely on shock value, but that's since gotten very old. The more recent American Dad episodes weren't too awful.

Flinstones? What the hell are they thinking? It was entertaining when i was a kid and i couldn't understand half the stuff that was going on there, but now its just bad, and i doubt that Macfarlane will make it into a kids show. I just don`t see how he could make this show work, he already has 3 shows about 3 different families that aren't that entertaining anymore, one of which was never good to begin with, but its still on the air so i guess someone likes it.

Probably as a throw-away joke/one-scene wonder for a while then shows up for real at one point.

Bin Laden was right; Family Guy is not funny!

Anything can be better than 'The Cleveland show' god, that's awful. And I'm a real big fan of Family Guy and American Dad!

I'll watch to see what it's like, but will happily switch it off and not back a fus if it does turn out to be shit.
