What settings do you think should be used in games more?

I think We need more WW1 games, although not neccisarly a FPS , A silent hill kinda horror game could be good in the trenches and no mans land, I mean that place is freaky as shit!

I agree with World War I. There's a wealth of battles and incidents to choose from. It doesn't have to be set in the static trenches on the Western Front, either. There were many secondary fronts that were far more mobile, such as Africa and the Middle East.

Some other settings to consider:
-A Warhammer 40,000 game from the perspective of an Imperial Guardsman.
-A decent Starship Troopers game.
-The Spanish Civil War
-The American Revolution
-The French Revolution

Steampunk zombie games. That's what I want more of. Or steampunk monster hunting in general - vampires/werewolves could also work.

I'd like some more Medieval action games. When I say Medieval I mean games that don't have any kind of magic or fantasy creatures. Just a medieval setting and gameplay. I'd like more of them, I found Bladestorm as well as Mount and blade a lot of fun but I would still like moar.

Also perhaps ones in other settings rather than just medieval such as a Roman one in which you are a legionary or maybe one in the middle east.

Elizabethan and Renaissance, and Colonial fantasy. Enough of this dark ages through 13th Century crap, I want my foppish hats and silly tights!

So far, the only franchises I know that go here are Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and the later Assassin's Creed Games.

Fantasy games set outside of the cliche Tolkein Medieval times. Where's the fantasy games set in an urban setting?

YES! I had forgotten about that. I really want more of them. Why don't we have more? We need more.

I'm quite disappointed at the amount of games we don't have that take place entirely in a flying airplane.

(I just watched and really liked Flightplan, OK? :p)

Could you name a few? I can't for the life of me create an imagine or an example :|.

Say Neverwinter Nights (can;t remember, but I think it was 2) where you start off in a city. (Only played for an hour or something :p)

Ancient Greece. There are no good games set in Ancient Greece, but it has such possibility.

Personally I think a Paradox style Grand Strategy were you play as a Greek City State would be absolutely awesome.

Rome with zombies.
The might of an almighty and diverse army versus an unholy horde of invaders from the (east?).

If not, then possibly more classical renaissance/late medieval era. I want blunderbuss, blade and billhook coupled alongside some artistic landscapes and a new world of discovery.

I wouldn't mind playing as one of Genghis Khan's most skilled warriors as his army sweeps through Asia. I can't think of a suitable premise to this game but that time period seems pretty sweet.

I would also love to play a game set during the Crusades. I wouldn't want it to be fantastical or conspiracy based, a good degree of historical accuracy would be ideal. Again, I have no idea what the story or objectives would be.

17 hundreds. Fire arms coming about to good use, everyone still using swords and such.

Thew new word is still being explored and conquered. The old world in term oil constantly. Plenty to work with.

I'm thinking of a more urban fantasy setting - Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is a good example, also sort of VtM Redemption. Maybe something based on Shadowrun. Also, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura however, that's less of urban fantasy but still not the standard Tolkein thing. Anything like NWN, DA:O, the recent KoA just uses recycled ideas. I'm sick of seeing the same races doing the same things in the same era over and over again. Put them somewhere else, make them do something different. At least change the era - give them access to firearms - that would make a difference (or it should - it didn't in WoW, for example).

WWI wouldn't be that fun, it'd be mostly scary and sad.
Millions died by charging to their deaths, the only real playable part would be near the end of the war when tanks were used, or one of the several other theaters.

We need more games that let you play with a hundred NPCs like Mount and Blade when you assembled a big army and fought other armies. That was fun. What games really need is for someone to make an easy and inexpensive way to get a hundred people in multiplayer for some epic sword fighting and such.

A game I would love, would be a steampunk WWI game. That would be, like starwars battlefront space battles, but replace space with air, the space ships with airships, and starfighters for planes.
