Mass Effect: honestly, I like it better than any movie or TV sci-fi franchise.
Telltale's Walking Dead: showing what adventure games are truly capable of as a storytelling medium
Saints Row, especially 2 and IV: perfect for cheering you up after playing the above
Spec Ops: The Line: another storytelling tour de force.
Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City: Batman games that are actually good. What more need be said?
BioShock: the sequel wasn't very good and Infinite was a decidedly mixed bag, but I still like it.
Dishonored: Arkane is great at world building, and I can't wait to see what whale-oil-fueled adventures we get up to next.
Ride to Hell: Retribution: forget finding gaming's Citizen Kane, we've found our Plan 9 from Outer Space.

For licensed properties.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance. People say Lego Marvel was the best Marvel game. Alliance had a rpg element that let you build your powers.

Transformers War For cybertron. The Horde mode was the best thing I've experienced
multiplayer wise this generation. Try doing Horde on PC with out any chat or Microphone. Still made it to wave 75.

Wolverine Origins. Luckily for this movie tie in, it actually was suppose to be a standalone wolveirne game and they converted the resources to make it a movie game. So its actually pretty decent.

Imo Singleplayer games will probably be regarded better than MP by future retro gamers for the simple reason as thats all they can play, plus SP AA/AAA's are getting rarer every year.

Vanquish, Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising for sure.

Vanquish is the standout imo, just because it's so unique, that and Bayonetta are worth buying a 360 just to play them.

The shmups on the 360 will be highly regarded among a segment of hardcore gamers, especially those buy CAVE which were unique to the 360 and probably won't get future console ports. Mushihimisama Futari, Deathsmiles, Akia Katana, Esp Galuda 2 etc

Lumines is a fantastic puzzler that is up there with Tetris imo, great for beginners and advanced players.

Demons & Dark Souls truly updated the oldschool difficulty for a modern audience, showed the AAA industry that challenge and penalty of death aren't dirty words.

Mirrors Edge
Dead Space
Gears of War (although imo Binary Domain is much better)
Binary Domain: last true SEGA game other than Sonic

360 Download.

Strania. it's a psudio successor to Ikaruga available only on XBLA.
Skullgirls, demn 2D animations
Dayatona USA & Virtua-On OT: while these are arcade HD ports the fact they are converted for a control pad over it's original controls means future gamers will want to play them.
Outland: unique platformer
Xotic: FPS meets Shmup score chasing
Pacman CE DX: a fantastic update of the original.
Hardcorps Uprising: A slighty different take of Contra. 2D HD visuals look great.
Dust: An Elysian Tail: a fun ARPG
Trials: a very popular XBLA game among teens which is quite unique
Shadow Complex: another popular XBLA title
FEZ & Splunky

I think the only reason that game put me off was because A. the respawning enemies and B. Enemies infinity ammo meaning they might as well have better accuracy then you have even on normal difficulty.
Enemies don't respawn in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. they move from other areas though, terrible respawn is the mess Far Cry 2 shit all over everyone who bought it.

On topic: PC has no generations, but here we go anyway:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. obviously, never been anything like it, in the Survarium beta and installing now, so I will see if there will ever be anything like it again.
Metro 2033/Last Light
Damn there are too many, I can't pick not being restricted by generations...

I'm going to rank these games as if there were a gaming hall of fame. I don't personally like all of these games, but I recognize their relevance. There are plenty of games that I will look back at as my all time favorites that aren't listed here, because I understand they aren't relevant/critically praised enough.

First Ballad Hall of Famers

The Mass Effect series
The BioShock series
Grand Theft Auto 4 & 5
The Last of Us ( It might be too early to call)
Skyrim
Call of duty 4 ( I'm tempted to include every call of duty game released in the last generation, just because of the insane sales numbers.)
Halo 3
Second and third ballad

The Gears of War series
Minecraft
The Uncharted series
Red Dead Redemption
The Batman Arkham series
Portal 1&2
The Assassins Creed series
Fallout 3
Saints Row series
On the bubble

Far Cry 3
Spec Ops The Line
Limbo
Metro games
Team Fortress 2
Left 4 Dead
Demon's Souls

Hrmmm, good question.

Red dead redemption has got to be top of my list...i actually paid for xbox live so i could play it for a while.

Trials HD is a game i will always happily go back and play some more...frustrating and addictive in perfect harmony. That will change if the leaderboards ever disappear.

Dead rising was worth me buying the console for although it's damn annoying in some ways.

Fallout 3 is the game i've probably put the most time into, and over a 4 year period, so chances are i'll go back and play it again in the future.

I'm really struggling to think up some pc games but while i've enjoyed playing a few games i generally end up having problems keeping them running long enough to maintain anything but apathy afterwards. Whoever said S.T.A.L.K.E.R wants their head examining...i finished it yesterday and i'm particularly scathing of it. I managed to break 4 quest lines so that they wouldn't leave my list but had been completed. The inventory system is shit and the weapons all feel like pea-shooters. The areas are all just shades of green and grey and hemmed in by barbed wire fences that cannot be crossed. The story is a mess aswell *sigh* Sorry, there isn't much of a story. Good atmosphere though 3/10 :p
