Well, as the title says, I need a new RPG to play, any suggestions are much appreciated.

Games I truly love:

Neverwinter Nights (particularly the expansions)

Mount and Blade (I know, more of an action game, but still...)

Morrowind

Mass Effect 1+2

Diablo 2

NetHack/Slash'em and their varients (Vulture's Eye, Vulture's Claw, Falcon's Eye, Falcon's Claw)

Yeah, so that's not a lot to go off of.

RPG's I just don't like:

JRPGs

WoW

All the Final Fantasy's...yeah, sorry.

Graphics don't matter so much, as long as the characters and stories are good. Oh, and I like drow. Something about those smug, pretty, happy little elves murdering in the darkness under the earth instead of frolicking in the forest makes me happy.

I would recommend Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. It is a pretty good RPG. Another RPG I would recommend is Alpha Protocol. Alpha Protocol is a bit buggy in places but overall still pretty fun. Dragon Age: Origins is another good RPG as well.

you could try dragon age 1 & 2. DA1 is more tactical and much longer while DA2 is more action game meets tactical RPG

fallout 3 and fallout NV are great RPG shooters (im playing fallout 1- tactics so i cant recommend them as of yet)

fable 1 with expansion (avoid all the others)

oblivion

knights of the old republic 1 & 2 (although you should play them in order)

the witcher is great if you love deep storytelling and dont mind a bit of linearity

thos are the only ones i could think of off the top of my head but i to am looking for another RPG to hold me over until skyrim and i am bored out of my mind replaying my older games right now

If you haven't played Planescape: Torment, you should. You can get it off GOG.

Witcher 2, if your PC can handle it, is pretty spectacular in terms of visuals and storytelling.

You also might be interested in looking at other Bioware games - I'd advise Dragon Age: Origins, and I've heard good things about the Baldurs' Gate series.

If you don't want to spend money, Spirit Engine 2 has one of the best combat systems I've seen in an RPG, awesome music, and above-average writing and art. It's free, and you can get it here [http://thespiritengine.com/tse2-download.php].

Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas are pretty good as well, and if you like Diablo 2 and shooter/RPGs like Mass Effect games, you might like Borderlands.

And even if you don't usually like JRPGs, if you have a DS get Devil Survivor. It's one of the better examples of a branching RPG storyline I've seen anywhere.

i would recommend
- Oblivion GOTY edition ( you can get it for like $20)
-Fallout 3 GOTY Edition ( also around $20)
- Mount and Blade Warband, or Mount and blade Fire & sword
- Sims if you like pure role-playing without any dungeon exploring or combat.

Everquest 2 (or even the original EQ) is pretty badass... it's an MMO but still an RPG

Vampire the Masqurade is amazing. I've heard great things about Deus Ex, but I haven't been able to see if they are true yet. I walk a step and it's ok then I press w again and I'm on the other side of the room :/

Fallout 3 GOTY should be pretty cheap at this point, as should Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (1 and 2). You could also consider downloading The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (also TES IV: Oblivion on the off chance you haven't played it), if you don't mind downloading DOSBox and getting used to playing a game from 1996. Although, the experience is well worth it in my opinion.

Also consider the games from the 'Gothic' series, and maybe try out Two Worlds and Two Worlds II, although reactions to both games are pretty mixed. You'll either like them or absolutely hate them. Also, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel if you're the kind of guy that enjoys the grinding, questing aspect of MMORPG's without having to actually interact with other players. There's a hell of a lot to do in that game.

Edit: Don't know how I forgot Planescape: Torment. That game is pretty much perfect.

I definitely agree with the person who said Planescape Torment. It's like, $6. Probably one of the cheapest, but best, RPG experiences you can get nowadays....If you want something more modern, try The Witcher 1 or 2, or DragonAge Origns. Another RPG is Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines. But to warn you: the combat is kinda crap, and make sure you get the 'unoffical' patch for it. Oh. Try Deus Ex as well.

Try these:

Oblivion
Fable: The Lost Chapters
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Nox

EDIT: Here's some more which seem to have slipped my mind even thought they're some of my favorites:

Overlord + Raising Hell
Overlord 2

Planescape: Torment
Arcanum
Fallout
Fallout 2
Fallout New Vegas
Perhaps Fallout 3
Deus Ex
Star Wars KOTOR
Star Wars KOTOR II
Alpha Protocol
The Witcher
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 if you haven't tried them (I mean they are great games but just didn't click with me)
Dragon Age Origins
Also Dark Sun 1 and 2 are great old buggy games (i never finished either. I think I got stuck early on in teh second one due to bugs nad couldn't beat the last fight in the first one. I think the first Dark Sun is a pretty huge inspiration to a lot of later games. Going around in nonlinear places to doing quest to bring about an army in order to deal with a bigger threat. )

Haven't played Witcher 2 or Vampire Masqurade: bloodlines but they both seem to be very good as well.
