Not at all. The developers are trying to mature computer games but because games are relatively new to the entertainment crew, they are getting bashed for it. Television, music and film have all gone through a similar stage which passes when the people who complain find something new to hate on.

Even though that was only 2 lines, it still hurt reading it. Sex and nudity have nothing to do with what reviewers say about a game, since most of the have more than half a brain cell. As far as a games rating goes and fox using sensationalism for viewers are a completely different matter.

Well, The Witcher 2 had full frontal nudity and one of the best (by which I mean clever and tasteful) sex scenes in games. And it was also pretty damn awesome.

No, what is affecting games are George Lucas romances, something that Bioware is pretty bad at.

To me it just depends on how the subject of sex or even innuendo is handled can have a pretty big impact on it.

A game like Catherine (mostly) handled the subject of sex in a mature way that worked for the storyline.

A game like Ar Tonelico that has you literally inserting crystals into a woman's body while stopping to ask her "Did that hurt?" when she winces to which she replies "It's pretty big" just makes me roll my eyes and wonder what 12 year old came up with this idea. I'm all for sex being used as a joke or in a campy ironic sense, but there are better ways to do it.

Of course both of those games are Japanese, so who cares, right? :p

And it was also her first time, yeah...the real kicker is, it wasn't even sex at all *laughs* But, I must say the english voice acting made the scenes hilarious. And terrible. At the same time. Terralious? Hilarrible? Hm. Think I'll declare one of them to be a word and use it more often from now on. Well, AT2 and AT3 take it up to eleven with baths and striperrific powers...

As for sex in games? If done badly, it can cause some really eyerollworthy scenes indeed.

Well, games that are all ABOUT sex, yeah, those games are usually pretty stupid and fall apart no matter what. They're usually uncanny, corny and awkward.

Games that delve into SEXUALITY however, if handled maturely, can be great.

no

in Mass effect case its simply expanding on what was already there (and what was orginaally intended but later cut)

and for crying out loud in Mass effect it always been the tamest thing ever, peopel are overreacting

we shouldnt say "we should never have x in games" because as soon as you say that youre admitting that games shouldnt push boundries

you dont get anywhere without pushing boundries

and you can push the boundaries by tastefully adding lots of hardcore sex to all your favourite titles... it's one of the only taboos left to top, so it is a developer's duty to push their art form.

plus a nice little helping of titties would make all of my favourite titles better.

I think it works if people aren't putting sex/nudity in a game just to get it some attention, or if it's there for genuinely funny reasons.
It's like The Ballad of Gay Tony add-on for GTAIV: The wang shot was obviously supposed to be a comical moment and yet, personally, I didn't find it slightly funny. It's not like I found it outrageous either. I just felt like Rockstar were trying to hard to be controversial for the sake of it.

I think the problem is that developers try to be mature why too hard and when they add sex in their game it just comes across as awkward and clunky in their execution. The God of War series had a sex mini game (off screen and had QTEs) and that was stupid and didn't make sense at all, and then you have Mass Effect and sex is used tastefully and is rather tame about it.

EDIT: Awwwww, someone here is trying too hard to be a troll, isn't that just cute.

Yeah, it was used well in Mass Effect. They didn't try to make a huge deal of it being a sex scene. It just flowed nicely into the game and made it seem like a generic movie sex scene (obviously not talking about a Watchmen-esque movie sex scene...)

Sex in games works like any other media: when tastefull and in context it is actually very deep and meaning full, when heavy handed or the meaning is over/under stated it seems distant, inhuman and just... ew

if your saying that you dont like games that have sex then you are probably not going to like the evolution of games, if its that you dont like the reation to it: dont worry, as people get used to it things will go smoother

Hello, obvious troll. I look forward to your possible suspension/ban sometime in the future. Feel free to advocate piracy, ad blockers, or flame some people and hurry it up.

EDIT: Oh, low content posts are cool too, make some of those if you want.

OT:

No idea where you got this theory, but I have a feeling you have no idea what you're talking about. Even if there is a trend of bad games containing sex, they're not bad because of the sex.

Video game developers are trying to make games more akin to real life.

Sex is an ever present concern and/or feature of real life.

Sex is going to be in video games more frequently as time goes on. Get used to it.

There should be a rule that people should atleast attempt to make real sentences.

^ I think there's a bit of a difference between a sex scene thrown into a video game, as part of the story/character relationships, to full-blown porn (excuse the pun...)
