The M16 for mid to long range, and the M4 for close quarter combat. The M-16 because it's one of the best weapons ever made and continues to be the best infantry rifle available. The M-4 because it has a shorter barrel better for close range fighting.
Wrong. The AK-47 is the best infantry rifle ever created. The M16(pre-overhaul) had massive jamming problems, cleaning it was a ***** and swapping out broken bolts or main springs was even harder. The AK has been a dependable treat-it-like-shit-and-it-fires weapon since day one. Plus the 7.62 (or.308 depending on model) versus the 5.56 or .223 is no contest. Kalashnikovs are more sought out than any other weapon in the world
Yes, it has a bigger round, and great reliability, but the M-16 has superior range, and accuracy. I'd take a M-16 any day because it can defeat the AK-47 any day in open areas where you need all the range and accuracy you can get. Also, the 6.8 mm Remington SPC might be the official round of the M-16/M4 later on. This round is very adaptable to current NATO 5.56 mm firearms. This will not only give current M16/M4 Firearms the near power of the AK, but it won't hurt the accuracy or range of them either. Assuming they just don't give the M-8 aka XM8 a go.
