I downloaded Triggerheart Excellica purely and simply because that purple haired robot chick was cute. I'm not even that big a fan of vertical scrolling shooters. Raiden (MGS2 version, natch. The new one just looks weird) is crazy. Hot guy + skin tight bodysuit + limber = oh sweet Jesus. Ninja Gaiden's Rachel looks like a Barbie doll. I mean, sure, the ludicrous proportions are one thing, but it looks like she's made of plastic. O'course, I've never really seen the appeal of big boobs, so I might just be missing the point.

Also id like to through my two cents in by saying i find the idea of virtual sexuality intresting if not just a tad wierd. I dont find female characters attractive (nor male) because of the fact that there not real but at the same time ive got a friend who regually (damn spelling) tells me of the game characters he finds hot and ive always wondered wat attracts people to game characters. Is it the personallitys or images or the idea that they could be whoever you wanted them to be ie the perfect partner?
Yup, jacking off to videogame characters is probably on par in creepy nerdy pastime terms with fat bearded male Sailor Moon cosplay. Then again, I do wonder if it's really any stranger than, say, enjoying an erotic novel. Both are entirely fictional, and both rely on the imagination of the audience to fill in the missing realism. Perhaps it has more to do with the character that's created, than the medium by which it's shown. I mean, it's fairly common knowledge that nudity in itself is about as sexy as a desk lamp. Pretty much all the erotic overtones in pornography come from the lingerie, the "sexy pout", and any other little garnish that the director has added in order to make the picture exciting. So it's certainly not the fact that "they're real people" that's turning you on, unless you're jacking off to the idea that "there's a girl that's allowed someone to take pictures of her in her underwear", as opposed to "there's a girl in her underwear".
The logical extension of that, is that the fact that "it's a real person" counts for little, since everything that makes something erotic is usually a work of fiction anyway. In that sense, it's about as strange to ogle the DoA girls as it is to get excited by a sleazy porno. Both have characters which a laughably unrealistic, and both have characters that are designed for the sole purpose of being sexy. The idea that "they could be whoever you wanted them to be ie the perfect partner" is something that's shared by pornography in all formats.
That said, this thread is still the most hilariously and unashamedly geeky thing I've seen for weeks. Man, what a bunch of losers.
