Here we go again! It's that time of year where we get to either be excited for an upcoming game, get annoyed that we have to sit through slew of other uninteresting game trailers just to get to the ones we are interested in, or groan at a ANOTHER live-service game announcement. Probably all three.

So far, the schedule follows as such:
  • State of Play, 6/4/2025, 2 PM PST
  • SGF 2025, 6/6/2025, 2 PM PST
  • Day of the devs, 6/6/2025, 4 PM PST
  • Wholesome Direct. 6/7/2025 9 AM PST
  • Future Game Show, 6/7/2025 1 PM PST
  • Xbox Gaming Showcase, 6/8/2025 10 AM PST
  • PC Gaming Showcase, 6/8/2025 12 PM PST
  • Nothing from Sony or Nintendo, although there is a rumor that there will be a State of Play sometime in June
I will be blunt, everything after Future Game Show doesn't sound too promising (neither does state of play). I mean Xbox Gaming should just be called "Microsoft Gaming" at this point, PC Gaming never has anything interesting, Nintendo will probably be too busy sucking their own dick w/ Switch 2 release, and Sony can go fuck itself.

Also, it's graduation season for me (Master's degree!) So I probably won't have time to cover all of these, particularly for anything happening on 6/7.

I miss when we just had the E3.
Used to be great, yeah. But sometimes around late-2000s to early 2010s is when I feel shit went downhill; Xbox One release plan bullshit, Ubisoft graphical downgrade, more showboating and less gameplay/annoucement, etc.

I would say that's one good thing that came out of COVID, because it started the actual downfall of the event.

Amazon's SGF has been alright so far, and I just hope they keep it all about games, and not let any sponsors/celebrities take the stage

You aren't wrong but I feel most of that has staid the same, only now it's spread out between a million different events and presentations rather than just having it all in one place. But yeah, it went downhill when it became an exclusive event rather than one that's open to the public.

Plus, let's be honest, all the worst aspects of E3 have now just been inherited by the VGA's.

Especially that "E for all" era bullshit they did back between 2008-2009. WTF was the point of all that?

Just focus on the events that matter or are of importance to you. I don't bother to focus on every single presentation or event. Especially if it's for a publisher or developer I don't care for or hate.

So turns out Unreal Engine had their own showcase.

Granted, it was to showcase the capability of UE 5.6, but one of them was witcher 4!

Other stuff were mostly on what the engine can do. Like detailed character creator called metahuman. The motion capture is kinda impressive, NGL.

Also on better lightning system and god rays, better load time, smoother animation, etc.

How quickly we all forgot when Cyberpunk 2077 launched, or even when they first revealed gameplay for it.

I mean Witcher 3 at launch had its technical issues, but it was no where near as bad as CP2077. But CDPR certainly seemed to have learned their lesson with CP2077 launch; While this was just a tech demo, they didn't announce any form of release windows. Witcher 1 remake has been silent after its production announcement a few years ago.

So this time, I'd imagine they don't want another fuck up with the launch, and take their time with development. Because oh boy, if they fuck up again, I don't think CDPR is ever coming back. Unlike Ubisoft or EA, they do not have a pile of money to keep them afloat for a while

We're very likely to have a Nintendo Direct this month. They usually come in June and the Switch 2 releases in a few days. I expect a Direct in the next couple weeks at most.

Horizon re-re-re-mastered? Definitely
Another live service game? Also likely
Revival of any Sony IPs? ppfffff........
Also saw someone mention RE9. That's something I'd love to see
I can think of at least one more thing :D
