All the ways.
Honestly I wasn't that focused on Geoff this time. I was having too much fun with the trailers and watching Max's stream to care. So you're gonna have to be a bit more specific. Though, from what I seen, he didn't do anything inherently wrong this time. Unless it's about that Death Stranding 2 cut-scene going on forever. I honestly don't blame, you're the air.And I really don't give a crap about Kojima anymore. I prefer Suda51 and Grasshopper any way. At least he and his team remember to make actual video games. Not be buddy, buddy, with every single person in hollywood.

Alright, here we go with the Xbox Microsoft gaming showcase.

No, I am not gonna use that name anymore since MS clearly hates their own creation now. Yes, I have very little expectations going in. If the game is a third-party, you can play it on any other platform. If it's first, you can still play it on other platforms since MS is gonna make it available day 1 on game pass or on other platforms.

So they start off with Outer Worlds 2. NGL, the graphics look the same as the first game. As for the gameplay, I think they added a few new concepts, like environmental manipulation during combat, and some new guns.

High on Life 2? Huh, can't believe this is actually happening after what happened with Justin. Looks fun enough

Resonance, a new game in the A Plague Tale universe. Ehh.

And we have.... an actual new hardware? Yeah the ROG XBOX Ally, Okay, technically it's not in-house developed hardware, but I think this is the first time for an MS-dedicated hardware from third-party? Any games you own on Xbox or on Game Pass can be played here.

And they snuck in the Silksong release date. Wut?

Next, we have more details for The Blood Of Dawnwalker, that vampire RPG game from one of the devs behind Witcher 3. So we pretty much have a Blade in a fantasy setting; A guy who has vampiric powers, but doesn't turn into one. It looks really sick, NGL.

Super Meat Boy...remake? In a 2.5 platformer. I think it will have multiplayer to see who can go the farthest?

Ninja Gaiden 4. Looks sick. Maybe we can get past the NG3 fiasco now.

The Order of Giants. A DLC for the recent Indiana Jones games.

Beast of Reincarnation, an action game from...Game Freak? They are actually making a non-Pokemon game

Clockwork Revolution. Hmm, originally I thought this was gonna be Bioshock Infinite-inspired, but I think it's more of Obsidian-inspired. We have a hilariously over-the-top villain, dark humor, and steampunk. And you can have fun controlling time, including traveling between the present and the past to manipulate the environment, and the storyline?

Grounded 2. Now featuring mounts, new weapons, and urban areas like inside a home's wall, or ice cream freezer. Although it doesn't really make sense for any insects to survive the sub-zero temperature

Cronos the new dawn, a game very reminiscent of Dead Space games. Hope it does something to stand out.

Ugh, a spotlight for ESO's new season. Pass.

Aphelion. A survival game on an Arctic planet. Yeah, if you played any sci-fi survival game, you played this one. It's being collaborated with European Space Agency, so I think they are trying to make it more "realistic"?

There are no ghosts at the grand. That's the title. I think they are trying to blend so many elements found in other games, it's really hard to comment on this game.

Age of Mythology, now with figures from Japanese Mytho.

Mudang. An action game fully set in Korea. NGL, this caught my attention at the beginning. But the gameplay looks just alright. Please be good....

Planet of Lana 2. Didn't even know the first game existed, but hey, it looks like a great 2d platformer.

FO76 is adding a fishing minigame. w/e

Solo-leveling arise overtune.... Real original name there! But hey at least the game looks fun.

Animo; totally not Palworld-rip-off. So they immediately make it clear there's gonna be a microtransaction. Hard Pass.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 + 4. My god, I think he has aged horribly. The game itself looks good! We have amazing moves, great soundtracks, and ninja turtles? and doomguy? Holy shit.....

At Fate's End. Okay, a visually stunning 2d action game. cool.

We have Gears of War reloaded. Remaster of the first game. No way they are making couch co-op relevant again?

Persona 4 Revival. Cool!

Sea of Thieves update. You know what? I will give credits for this game keeping adding new content since launch. Not as inspiring as No Man's Sky, but hey, they are both refusing to give up and abandon their games.

Invincible VS. A fighting game set in Invincible game? And it's gonna be mortal kombat-level of brutality? Yeah, I will stay interested!

FF7 Remake and FFXVI are coming to Xbox. You know what? I'm just happy for Xbox owners to have them finally get to play mainline FF games again. But no FF7 Rebirth.... yet.

Keeper. Okay, this game's unique concept immediately caught my attention.

And they are gonna end with Black Ops 7. Ugh......

Overall:
I think most of these games looked great. And my complaints aren't towards the games themselves, but the company as a whole. As much as most of these games look stunning with their unique and colorful visuals, they really aren't exclusives per say.

They announced a new immersive sim.... So they' willing to develop new one, but despite having arkane studio, that specialism in those, they had them make redfall instead of that....

From the studio what made Spiritfarer! I loved that game to itty bitty pieces.
And now they're doing a sick looking action game, which, like Spiritfarer, merges the gameplay and serious themes better than really any game I've ever played. It's that thing that so many indy/cozy/wholesome games shoot for but IMO rarely deliver.

It is, by far, the most hype thing I saw all weekend. Really the only game reveal that made me gasp in excitement. That's not to say I wasn't interested in anything else, just that I'm very much a wait-and-see kind of person.

Edit to add my quick thought on the whole SGF: I rarely criticize these things, I like the silly marketing pageantry of it, I don't take it seriously. But the main SGF showcase felt particularly underwhelming and I think it's just because a lot of big things have been delayed. And no matter how much we say we hate AAA I think we're kind of lying to ourselves- these events are all about hype and nothing is hype like the big stuff.

Except Silksong, which sort of kind of announced in the middle of the reveal of the XBox handheld but then the actual game was NOT shown otherwise and still no release date. Since I didn't finish Hollow Knight I have no personal interest so I'm just being a little ***** and rooting for this game to never come out. It's been so long that all the hype for it is just another annoying meme and I want everyone to suffer for it.

So I am seeing people saying SGF was pretty underwhelming, and I have to agree to some degree. But I also think SGF 2021 w/ Elden Ring gameplay set the bar SO HIGH, every showcase after that hasn't met the expectations.

But on plus side, we don't have to sit through the likes of EA, Ubisoft, or T2 anymore. So it's good for everyone to not go through the prolonged disappointment.

Anyways, my picks for favorite reveals are:
  • Silent Hill F. As someone who grew up watching J-horror movies, and still is terrified of them, I am excited to be actually scared. Bring back the psychological trauma!
  • Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement. The first bloodstained game was one of the earliest Kickstarter projects I've backed, and I enjoyed it thoroughly! I am excited for this sequel as well!
  • FFT Ivalice Chronicles. Do I need to say more? I waited too long for this game to hit the mainstream platforms since WOTL on mobile!
  • TWO Ninja Gaiden games! Ragebound even has the kick-ass remix of Unbreakable Determination!
  • Lego Voyagers. Not sure why such a concept took so long to be realized, but hey, looks like a nice relaxing game
  • RE9! No words.
  • The Blood of Dawnwalker! It really does have a Witcher vibe, yet different enough to stand on its own
  • Clockwork Revolution! I'd rather play this than Outer Worlds 2
  • Invincible VS. Maybe we can all forget about that shitty mobile game.

I disagree big time. PS SofP, and SGF 2025 felt great this year to me. The only underwhelming show is the PC Gaming Showcase, but they don't even try much anymore most of the time.
