Holy premature phallus puns of embarrassment, much sooner than I anticipated, the game is out pretty much tomorrow. Woefully unprepared, yet here are some current reviews. Rock paper shotgun seems more glowing than I was expecting...

There were some details beforehand that had me worried wildhog would drop the gallbladder with the slight change of direction. But it seems that they haven't held back injecting it with every ounce of enthusiasm required for such a premise. The cyberpunk levels and custom chainsaw body slicing look very appealing for my personal carnivorous tastes. What people here are looking forward to trying this new addition to the series of slicey stabby goodness?

I will be trying it out, probably tomorrow. I loved the first, mostly cause the Katana was actually awesome, and I use it more than I use guns at all, aside from bosses. Hope they improved it. Though since I know I am buying the game, I have no interest in reviews until I play it myself, to avoid spoiling anything.

I know, right? It was amazing just slashing and dashing everything. Guns I only ever used against bosses because I had to. Other than that, katana all the way.

I had a brief look at the reviews and it seems that it's basically what the devs have promised. More of the game, but bigger and more open levels. Still as much fun. That's what I gathered, at least.

I'll probably wait a bit before I get it, but I'm looking forward to playing it eventually.

It is certainly the main improvement over the original Shadow Warrior. It has a katana, but I never use it. I liked the old level design better, but in the reboot, really its just a linear path to my next fight that I want to get to anyways.

But the exploration I am looking forward to in 2...and the co-op. (Which is why I am getting it on Xbone, instead of Steam, despite missing out on a bit of a sale :/)

Fantastic news; this game looks like a gizzard-kicking, eyeball-plucking, rectum-stuffing good time. And some of those demons looked almost Slaaneshi. Good, I enjoy a bit of the ol' moral deviancy in my games.

It's awesome. It's pure unadulterated fun. It looks good, plays good and performs good. It's also funny in a cheesy and self-aware way. If you enjoyed the katana in the previous game you'll love all the new weapons as well. In the first hour of the game you get 8 weapons to play with. Well, more than that but you can only equip 8. This is sort of more in the direction of Borderlands than an arena shooter, but the way that loot and upgrade system works is completely different. I have maybe 2h on record so far but I'm loving it. I haven't tried co-op yet but I have some friends waiting for me to join them later.

From what I've seen from streams and the like, sorta repetitive. Like, really repetitive, a seemingly limited amount of maps, limited objectives in said maps, with about the only redeeming qualities being the weapon customization and Wang carrying the whole fucking story again.

Basically another fucking looter-shooter, which is fine, but not anywhere near my kind of game these days.

Finally, finally, finally finished a successful Ironman run on Xcom 2 last night, prompting jubilation until I saw how crap my stats were compared to world stats. Still a win is a win, even if it took 115 hours... was hoping this would be good, seems like a perfect change of pace and Doom is done so Katana time.

Definetely getting it but it wont reach the epicness of Doom.
2013 Shadow Warrior was already better than Doom remake.
Doom is masterpiece and raise the bar for FPS genre after Half life 2.
I loved it but got a little bored toward the end and found myself not really powering up a second play through at a harder difficulty?

The first Shadow Warrior reboot had small problems with it. Like, a lot of them. And they all kinda just added up to make the game just... Meh in the end. However, it sounds like Wildhog didn't fix very many of them, if at all for this second one.

Can you go into a little depth about this? Hearing you compare the game to Borderlands has my interest and hope plummeting. I did not enjoy those games at all and is the last thing I would want Shadow Warrior to be like.

For you maybe. But for some people, like me, it left alot to be desired. it didn't feel like Doom, rather like Quake with a new lick of paint.

OT:
Stil need to play the reboot. But if I enjoy it I might pick up this one. We'll see.

Has Skinner box 'lewt' shit ala Boredrlands for weapons. Also, tile based randomly generated levels. The immediate issues you can think of with these 2 qualities applies to Shadow Warrior 2.
In that case I might pass up on SW2 entirely. Randomly generated levels don't really work well if you ask me.

As I understand it the levels are set with random elements, but also the levels are one of the complains I see in reviews.

Me and my ADHD, I got a Steam deal on 1 and liked it but barely got into it.

Good reviews for 2. Makes me want to pick up on it.

They are calling it Doom with Japanese settings and a potty mouth.

Uh? For some reason I thought it was out already. Well, I know exactly who here will tell me if it's actually really good. I'll keep waiting until then.
