@Enlightened _Envy: Accepted.

@Mortis Nuncius: Welcome back

So he has multi-thumbed hands? I assumed this was some augmentation, but I didn't see it listed. Am I understanding?

@EmperorZuma: Excellent character.

@Pappytech: Yes.

@Spector29: Approved.

Ah, I must have missed that. It was my original intention that he'd have a birth 'defect', but I decided against it in the end.

And thanks for the welcome, glad to be back. ^^

@Spector29: I'll give it another day or so. Avouleance2nd and Pappytech can submit their sheets, as can anyone else. I'll also leave the signup open while the characters are receiving their mission.

Name and/or Alias: Jack-Off
Age & Gender: 27, Male
Race: Troll
Height & Weight: 9'5", 495 lbs.
Type: Decker/Rigger

Appearance: Big and yellow, he's the epitome of what humans and metahumans think of when they hear the word "troll". Small, beady eyes are set close together with a massive nose just below them. His horns have grown back and then upwards, but look bent out of shape near the ends. His tusks have a similar feel to them, grown in straight but punched crooked by pissing off the rare thing that's bigger than himself. The only truly note worthy piece about his face would be the datajack installed into his left temple.

It's apparent that he's a bit of a baseball fanatic, often sporting an unbuttoned jersey (his favorite being the Yankees) and white undershirt. Whatever the team du jour, he accessorizes with a cap, which doesn't fit too well because of his horns and sits at an upward, almost fourty-five degree, angle. Black cargo pants and a pair of red converse cover up what's left, the pockets heavy with third hand spare parts. On his wrist he's attached his deck, looking more like an oversized wrist computer than an actual deck. On his back is slung a navy blue courier backpack to keep all of his various rigger tools needed for quick, on-site repairs.

History: Jack-Off's life before running wasn't anything to get excited over. He's not a troll out for revenge, some wiz with a deck and a grudge or out to topple any corps like David against Goliath. No, he was just a kid with a love for baseball and a dream to move up a little in the world. But there's only one way to grow up in the Bronx; hard and fast. While normal for his circumstances, it was often a brutal life of fast decision with hard choices. It wasn't what he wanted, however, and so he did everything within his power to get away from it.

By the time he was a young adult, Jack-Off was already a respectable wageslave for an R&D branch for Novatech nestled in the heart of Manhattan. He wasn't the most competent, or the most qualified, but he did his job in a satisfactory manner and was paid a good, honest nuyen for his work. His apartment was on the 34th floor of a sky rise and had three whole rooms. He even had a car; a modest little coup import from Japan that had cost him a year's salary to save up for! Life was good and now he just needed to stay low and not rock the boat. And so it was for a time.

Then he met Pix. At first he thought her a glitch, some rogue persona in the Matrix trying to scrape the bottom of the data barrel in the hopes of finding something juicy. It was just that the darn thing kept making itself known, so it couldn't have been a small time runner. She asked him to take her away from here, that she needed to see the world or else her boss would get mad, but he wasn't convinced. Then she told him that she was some secret project, a new A.I. that Novatech was developing to help maintenance workers guard important corporate servers, but he still thought it was fishy. Then she told him that Mr. Takeshime, his boss, would be incredibly angry if he didn't do his duty for the corporation and the troll immediately downloaded the A.I. onto his company PDA and snuck out of work for the day.

It wasn't three hours later before Jack-Off was standing before his superior, Mr. Takeshime, accused of stealing corperate assets for his own personal gain. The troll tried to explain his circumstances but his boss wasn't having any of it, calling his alibi a fairy tale. It didn't help that he had lost the only witness somewhere in the Matrix, unsure of how to find her again. Worst of all was when Mr. Takeshime went to add the report onto Jack-Off's corporate file; he had no SIN. Accusations of the poor wageslave being a shadowrunner were immediately thrown around liberally as the supervisor had an absolute fit. He tried to defend himself, just as bewildered by the development as his boss was furious, but it was to little avail. The troll was impolitely escorted off the premises of the building and told never to return unless he wanted to deal with the business end of a Lone Star revolver.

Unsure of where to go, he turned to what few options he now had as a nobody. Despite it being what had turned his world from perfect to downright disastrous, Jack-Off turned to shadowrunning as a means of steady income. He sold himself as a decker, using the micro training program installed by Novatech for data entry to help crack low level security systems. By no means was he the best, but he got by and that was good enough for him. He even fell in with a few chummers by the names of Ronin, Skeeze and Umi; a motley crew if there ever was one. They called themselves the Runbacks and they were a skillful little crew willing to get any client out of the drek they put themselves in.

It was during this time that Jack-Off learned of the fate of Pix. She had been keeping her distance since the fateful day he had been sent out of the Novatech research center. In fact, he hadn't been fired at all! No, he was now apart of their top secret research team, out in the field as a shadowrunner in order to test out Pix's programming and help her learn all the nefarious tricks she'd have to defend against. In fact, it was exactly why he couldn't have a SIN anymore; to keep his activities safe from the other corporation. It was all for his own protection, you see. And while the troll couldn't quite understand why no one at Novatech hadn't told him this information, he couldn't exactly see any faults with the logic.

So from then on, they were partners in crime. Almost overnight the Runbacks had a boom of success with Jack-Off suddenly becoming the new hot decker in the Matrix, eradicating high end security systems without a second thought. He even began dabbling in rigging, acquiring a nifty little four-legged gun drone that he'd built from a busted up Ares pattern for Pix to control. After the Runbacks went their separate ways, Jack-Off began wandering the UCAS. Now he's here, ready to make a name for himself and hopefully a few nuyen with it.

Reason to be here/things to do: Why else does a shadowrunner do the things they do? All he's looking for is his big score; that one job to retire on. Maybe he can even scrape together enough nuyen to buy his SIN back!

Personality: Jack-Off is that charming mix of naivety and dim-witted that everyone seems to fall for. He'd even tell you that he's not the brightest cookie in the shed, if you asked him to. He doesn't quite understand the intricacies of the world and often times relies on others to read into a situation. He's typically far more preoccupied with figuring out if he should be talking down a situation or if it's just better to smash it with his baseball bat until the problem is leaking superfluous amounts of blood to not matter anymore. He's a dedicated sort of fellow, however, and strives to work hard for anyone he's learned he can trust. It's the sort of trust that must be earned, but once you're in, you're in for life. Overall, he's a simple troll with simple tastes and he tries to make sure that life stays as uncomplicated as possible -- his simple mind might not be able to handle it otherwise.

Notable skills: Jack-Off is a mediocre decker, at best. His skill mostly comes from his partner in crime, Pix, who's now made herself his Matrix avatar. This does leave him free to let other dangers occupy his attention, and he can effectively engage in combat while plugged in as Pix handles all the cracking in the Matrix. Being a troll makes him far more resilient than most deckers as well, allowing him to stay up longer so Pix can do her thing. Apart from his tendency to lean on the A.I. skill suite, he's quite knowledgeable about sports, particularly baseball, and has a wide breadth of trivia he can call on at a moment's notice.

Equipment: Remington 990, baseball bat, Allegiance Sigma cyberdeck, data jack, modified Ares combat drone w/ built-in Ares MP-LMG, various spare parts, repair tools, courier backpack.

Contacts: Ronin- The prodigal runner and long time best friend of Jack-Off. He even gave the troll his name after a comical linguistic misunderstanding. The Bronx was just too small a pond for a big fish like him. After making a name for himself, he moved out to Seattle and never looked back. Despite his pedigree running shadows, he always had a soft spot for the dumb troll and kept him safe when they took jobs together.

Skeeve- If there were ever a list of reasons why you shouldn't like orcs, Skeeve would be number one. He's crass, he's disrespectful, and he doesn't shower often. In fact, he'd probably kill his own mother if it got him his next paycheque. That being said, Jack-Off has already earned his respect and his shamanistic talents are nothing to sneeze at. In a pinch, this hard-hitting naturalist is more than a handful for any corp guard stupid enough to cross him.

Umi- An elf of enigmatic beauty and deadliness in equal measures. Her wiles are ones to be looked at with caution. Her relationship with Jack-Off is confusing for him at best, with a constant game of leading him on and then failing to follow through on those remarks. He's never quite sure what to do when she comes around but he knows that her magic is nothing to be trifled with, so he can stand to be teased a little.

Sorry for the late entry, but it's done. Any constructive criticism is welcome.

@HellsingerAngel: Approved. A troll wageslave baseball fan who becomes an unwitting test subject and just kind of gets swept up in things is a funny idea. Nicely done.

@All: Game thread is up. To those who have expressed interest here or by PM, slots will be open a short time before the mission starts. Shadowrun usually involves a period after the players receive their assignment where they gather information and plan out their run. Of course, the players could choose not to, but doing so usually results in a TPK.

@Asclepion: And who exactly is this Mr. Johnson?
If I remember correctly, Mr. Johnson is actually just a title given to anyone giving a job to shadowrunners, which is obviously a "no names" affair.

Sorry, going to try to get a post up today/tonight. Pretty much in the same boat as Hiei.

@All: I was just giving the players a chance to introduce themselves, but I can skip to the meeting already if it's easier.

@Mortis Nuncius: EmperorZuma is correct. Mr. Johnson (Mr. Tanaka if Japanese) is a title for shadowrunner employers.

It's fine either way, I'm just busy until late tonight with exams.

@EmperorZuma:
@Asclepion: Ahh, okay.

Also, I can have Riley ask the barkeep where the VIP section is and tell him/her that Mr. Johnson is expecting him. I just figured that the time leading up to the actual meeting would be spent with our characters having a chance to mingle, but I'm perfectly fine with going straight into the meeting as well. ^^

Seems we're off to a slow start. Don't mean to sound impatient, but does anyone plan on posting soon?
