You can stun and hit shield guys in the back (if you can get behind them). Do combat finishers work on him? If so use bow headshots on his minions to thin them out and get your combat finisher up and use it on him (twice if you have the skill unlocked for double finisher). You might have to hit his minions (vault then stun and flurry attack) to get your hit streak up again. Make sure you try to get the captain/warchief with the finisher though. If he is not invunerable to arrows pin the git so you can concentrate on his boys.

I think they can't be immune to everything, even if its not listed as a weakness doesn't mean that you can't do damage with it. Also, if he has a fear use that to get him to run off so you can get him on his own.

It does kind of depend what moves you have unlocked. Taking on a level 20 (which is the max by the way) early on could be really tricky.

Why wouldn't you take his shield buddies out with arrows? They still die in 1 headshot... I use my bow more than I use anything else, with the right runes replenishing focus and arrows I can pretty much endlessly slowmo insta-kill a whole stronghold.

The warchief won't disappear if you run away, you don't even need to run that far, just climb up a wall and move slightly out of their eye line, all the AI will forget about you in about 10 seconds and the warchief will just patrol around. You can take this time to bow down all the plebs and then try a stealth attack on the warchief.

If he is invulnerable to stealth attacks you can try lots of other things, shooting barrels/fires, letting a caragor loose, wraith stunning (which works on all captains/warchiefs unless they are explicitly immune to it, if they are immune to jump overs then they are usually vulnerable to wraith stun), even try giving the warchief a headshot.
