Wolf would be neat, Fox would also be cool. They both make awesome sounds.

I didn't read Animorphs in middle school, Heinlein and Asimov were my books.

I would definitely pick tiger - powerful, fast, huge, beautiful. Did I mention freakin huge?
Also, a bird. Birds would be AWESOME.

A Lion, Might as well experience what a personify
A Red Tailed Hawk, They can fly and they are beautiful creatures
A Raccoon, Stealthy, adorable, but also dexterous
A Mako Shark, They are bad ass and good swimmers.

Also Animorphs were awesome, I'm glad to know that other people enjoyed them.

Grizzly bear for self defense, basically the deadliest land animal I can think of (aside from I guess an elephant/rhino/hippo).

Timber wolf to track stuff and hunt. Also I could put a collar on and pretend to be a big dog for disguise.

Wedgetail Eagle for traveling huge distances.

Dolphin for swimming in the ocean and general trolling.

Given that this is the internet, I predict that 80% of the eventual results of this thread will be 'wolf' and 'dragon'.

Shark + some kind of bird. You could turn into the bird, swoop down upon your enemies and seconds before impact transform into a Shark and eat them.
Well, now, if we're going by Animorphs rules, you have to change back into a human first. Also, it takes about a minute to morph.

Although, we are talking about shapeshifting here. Rules probably don't apply anymore.
Showing my Geek card, here, but Cassie had the ability to transform from a bird into a human, then a Whale in a matter of 30 seconds or so in one of the books. Best to just assume that everyone is that adept at it.

I'd have an Eagle(cause Eagles never get shot and have no natural predators, booya.), an Ape (Stronger version of me, who doesn't want that?), and a Great White Shark (King of the Sea! Well, if you dont' count a bunch of dolphins or the things so far down we dont' know about em.)

For daytime travel: a seabird of some sort like a stellar sea eagle or an albatross, cause they have the long distance thing going for them.
For nighttime travel: I'd prefer a bat of some sort but failing that i'd go with an owl
For aquatic travel: I'd like to say collosal squid, but considering all we've ever found of those are bits and pieces stuck on and in sperm whales, i doubt i'd be able to get my hands on one so i'd have to make my way down to the sea of cortez and get my hands on a humbolt's squid cause they're pretty fast and rather ferocious
For self defence: if we're talking animorphs universe here i'd pick a hork-bajir, but failing that i'd go with some sort of tiger
For my own amusement: probably several reptiles like snakes, monitor lizards, and geckoes, as well as a few mammals that might interest me...

Some sense. Everyone keeps going 'Peregrine falcon because they're the fastest', they have the fastest dive. So unless you enjoy eating pigeons that's kind of useless.

I'd probably go with an albatross, water bear, blue whale, polar bear, and a bloodhound.

Either a fennec fox, a pallas cat, a domestic house cat, a horse, an otter, a falcon, or a ferret. And if we can go mythical, a hippogriff would do just fine.
