Did a half hearted sweep over the searches for Gameboy and only came up with topics similar to this, but not as refined, close/delete as seen fit.

Well, so recently I've gone nostalgia on my old gameboy and gameboy color and long story short,I want to try out all those shiny games that I could not afford back in the days.
I realize that i could download an emulator, but that's just not the same, and I also doubt that it's legal, ROMs also do not raise in collectors value over the years, in case I should ever sell them.
SOOO, teh intarnets came to my rescue, got a few sites similar to ebay in my country choak full of epic games. The good thing is the availbility, I feared that I could only find a few of them and just buy those, the bad, well. I'm far from wealthy enough to buy them all, so i ask you Escapists, what are you're favourite games/what should i buy?

I got: Harvest moon (lol), Links awakening DX.

Ill cover the obvious choices: The first few Pokémon games, the Zelda games, perhaps a few Mario related ones.

If you feel like it, you can also add some games for the N64, as I just realized I got one hidden somewhere wich is probably going to be valuable in not too long. Or other old consoles.

Pokémon Red/Yellow/Silver.

In fact, I may buy a new Gameboy just to play Yellow again...

Metroid II: Return of Samus

One of my first gameboy games and one of the ones we played over, and over, and over, and over...

Donkey Kong Country on the Gameboy Colour is just too good!

I'm proud to own it.

Plus Dragon Warrior Monsters was a fantastic monster raiser than I completed loads of times.

EDIT: Wario Land 2 and 3 are must have too! :D

I've had various Super Mario Land 2 themes stuck in my head for the past two days now.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit how many hours I put into that game.

Uhhh... I'm sure there are lots I've missed -- the Game Boy was one of the greatest platforms ever, contrary to popular belief amongst those who only played it for Pokémon -- but these are all good, particularly if you select those which have personal appeal.

Oh, and before you ask:

-- Street Fighter II's controls are rendered (quite effectively) by the 'A' and 'B' buttons executing different types of punches and kicks (three each, like the arcade version) depending on how hard you press them
-- Daikatana is an excellent Zelda-style adventure game, albeit only available in Europe or as a freeware rom on John Romero's website
-- Worms Armageddon is ported effectively onto Game Boy, with its only fault being the ineptness of its AI, which may warrant passing over it

-- Harvest Moon 3 has been excluded from this list because of its idiosyncratic design (you have to choose between harvesting crops or raising livestock)
-- The Donkey Kong Land series was excised because of the existence of Donkey Kong Country for the GBC -- a better pixel-by-pixel translation of the (overrated) SNES totem
-- The first Super Mario Land isn't bad -- pick it up if you're a Mario fanatic, by all means -- but does suffer from floaty controls and general underdevelopment compared to its sequels

Really, really great games not Mario/Zelda/Pokémon: Wario Land II; Wario Land 3; Metal Gear Solid; Final Fantasy Adventure; Tetris/DX

Me and my brother have got a drawer full of these games, it's really unorganised though so I'll just say Pitfall and Captain America and the Avengers.

Pokemon Red, Dragon Warrior Monsters, Vegas Stakes (taught me how to play poker) and the Final Fantasy games, especially Final Fantasy Legend 2. That game was epic.

Aye.

On the GBA, I enjoyed more Pokemon, as well as Spyro and Scooby Doo: Mystery Mayhem, which was surprisingly pretty good.
