My first gaming platform was the Nintendo, which only lasted a short while. Because it was soon replaced by the Super Nintendo. After a pretty long run, I turned to PC gaming. Which was around the time the Playstation 1 was released. I thought of getting that one, but in the end I didn't. Ever since I have been a PC gamer. But I did buy a Playstation 2 after it had seen a few price drops, so that I could play all the awesome (PS2 exclusive) RPGs. Through the years, I have kept upgrading/buying new computers. But at one point I was low on cash when my PC broke down. So, instead I bought a Xbox 360 when it was on sale. Most games got a multi-platform release and the ones I wanted were all (going to be) released in the Xbox 360. So it was a good choice and a quick fix to save on money. To this day I am still a PC gamer. But I will probably (finally) going to buy a Wii once the RPGs games are released.

NOTE 1: Also, in the Nintendo era I had a Gameboy, but I didn't like it. Then I got a Game Gear, which was a lot better, but lacked good games.
NOTE 2: The Xbox 360 broke down after 1.5 years (no surprise there). So I can't play Xbox 360 games anymore.

My first gaming system was the Atari 2600.
And since then I've tried to get my hands on every single new system that came out, with the exception of some lackluster seeming systems like the 3DO. I really wanted a Sega Saturn at one point in time, but never got one. I was pretty poor, and my acquisition of merely a Nintendo 64 was more delayed. Because at that point in my childhood, there was only one thing I liked more than Nintendo games, and that was jRPGs. Sony had the jRPGs.

Right now, I have and will have pretty much all of the systems someday. As I spend over $300 per month on video games.

Ugh. Basically all of them?

Honestly, since the Atari 2600, I (or the folks) owned every major console except the Genesis. (The Atari, NES, and SNES weren't "mine", but my family had them.)

My habit has been that Sony and MS consoles are mainstays, but Nintendo consoles (since the N64 anyway) have been temporary things...I get one, usually off ebay, play a couple games (usually Zelda/Mario), then get rid of it. I kind of did the same with the Wii, though I have spent more time with a Wii than without, and I wouldn't have got rid of my first Wii if it hadn't scratched one of my games and caused me to panic. Kind of odd that as I get older my loyalty to Nintendo just seems to go up. I expect to get a WiiU at launch and keep it.

I'm going to count any platforms in my house over the years as me "owning" them as well as for most of them I probably put as much time into those than I did with any of my own personal ones.

Trying to be in chhronological order but probably won't be...
Sega Mega Drive
PS1
Game Boy Colour
Dreamcast
PS2
Game Boy Advance
Xbox
DS
Xbox 360
Wii
PS3
3DS

I don't use my laptop for a lot of games but the ones I do I have spent quite a lot of time on (Civilization, Football Manager, The Sims etc) so I don't know if I should include that or not.

The platform I learned about gaming on, was the PC, way back in '93 or '94. I used to play with my dad, who's really the one I have to give credit to, for me gaming today. After that, I got a Gameboy and the two at the time, was my platforms of choice. After that, me and my little brother bought a PS1, for money we had accumulated between us. At that time, I was switching between the PS and the PC, until eventually I went all-out PC. That went on, until about 4 years ago, when I bought my PS3, so nowadays, it's switching between that and the PC

So yes, the PC has been my predominant platform of choice, even if I've had a lot of fun with the consoles and still is today.

So, in summary:
PC
Gameboy
PS
PS3
with the PC of course being present during at all times.

I started out on the Playstation One and Gameboy Color when I was like five. Then I got a PS2 when I was 12 from my grandma. After a long run, it took a shit on us, so it was at that time when we got an Xbox 360. When that broke (DAMN YOU SHITTY TRAY AND LASER!) I bought another. The same thing is happening to it now (the tray and laser are failing) so I have plans to switch over to a PS3.

The PS3 switch sounds logical becasue that was all I had for my entire gaming career. Also, it's a bit more stable.

Let's see here:

1. Mattel Electronics Intellivision, which we got on Christmas of 1981
2. Commodore Vic 20, owned concurrently with the above
3. Colecovision, replaced the Intellivision
4. Sega Master System, replaced the Colecovision
5. 286, marked my two decade long shift to PC gaming
6. 386, replaced the 286 (stolen)
7. 486, replaced the 386 (binned)
8. Dell Laptop (ca. 2004)
9. X-Box 360, first console owned since the Sega Master System
10. PS3, owned concorrently with the 360, which still gets a lot more love.

I was born i 1988 . It started with the nes , and sega masters, continues on to the snes and sega genesis . I then got a gameboy and a sega game gear. Later we got the ps1 and the N64 then we got the sega dream cast when it was dying. Then came the ps2 followed by the game cube . I bought myself a nintendo DS to play in class whilst in my last year of highschool highschool. The ds got upgraded to a ds light and i bought a psp for kicks . The wii came out and my mom bought that , i bought a xbox 360 and my dad bought a ps3 , so we now have every current gen console. I do have a PC but never used it for gaming outside that 2 years of WOW and some diablo 2 during my highsxhool years . I am currently 23 and still hae all of them ( except the sega masters ) and they all work.

So far I've had and still own the following consoles.

Nintendo 64 my first (No Longer with me)
An Atari which I got from my uncle, it was already a bit ruined so it's gone as well.
Playstation one after I got my Playstation 2 it was given away, but I did keep the games.
Gameboy Colour
Gameboy Advance SP
Ninetedo Ds and Dsi
Gamecube
Wii
Playstaion 3
Xbox 360.
I suppose steam for the pc as well but I never use it.

Usually I'm on my Ds and Playstation, the 360 doesn't belong to me and I've no interest in currently playing it at the moment.

Chronologically? Hmmmm, long history, let me see...

1. Atari ST - When I was younger than I remember.
2. SNES - When I was 5 years old.
3. Game Boy - The Christmas after the SNES.
4. Game Boy Colour - Can't remember how I stumbled on this tbh...
5. N64 - One of my birthdays a few years on.
6. PC - Sometime after that (was upgraded to an Alienware about 3 years ago)
7. Game Boy Advance - Present just before the Gamecube was released.
8. Playstation 2 - Surprise present (because my dad needed a DVD player).
9. Gamecube - Birthday present.
10. Game Boy Advance SP - Upgraded my Advance.
11. Nintendo DS - Bought this at a discount with Nintendo VIP Points with Mario 64.
12. XBox 360 - Bought it with my own money because I fancied it.
13. Nintendo Wii - I remember disguising this as I went home because people were mad for this on release.
14. Nintendo DS Lite - I gave into peer pressure...
15. XBox 360 Elite - My old one lacked a HDMI port and I just got a HD TV.
16. Nintendo 3DS - Ocarina of Time in 3D? Yes please. Got it on release.

I started with the Sega Megadrive. We didn't have too many games, but that didn't matter back then because I couldn't finish most of them until a year's worth of practise.
Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, 3D, Spinball, Super Hydlide, Fatal Labyrinth, Mystic Defender, Castle of Illusion, Quackshot, PGA, NHL '91, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe.
Around this time I got a classic Gameboy, which served me well on long trips and lamp-lit nights (until I got one of those light things). A couple of years down the line I'd get a Colour, too.
Super Mario Land, SML 2, Street Fighter 2, Tetris, Link's Awakening, Pokemon Blue, Red, Yellow, Gold & Silver.
Some time later, I can't remember how long, we got a Playstation and bathed in the glory of three-dimensional gameplay. Granted it was still very blocky but that didn't matter. Still doesn't really. I still play most of the games we owned back then. A couple of years down the line I ended up with my own personal console.
Doom 1 & 2, Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3, TR:Last Revelation, TR:Chronicles, Soviet Strike, C&C:Tiberian Dawn, C&C:Red Alert, C&C:Retaliation, Abe's Exoddus, Abe's Oddysee, Spyro 1 & 2, Rayman, Gran Turismo 1 & 2, Road Rash, Broken Sword:Shadow of the Templars, Resident Evil 1 & 2, Future Cop:LAPD, Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9 and GTA 1 & 2.
One rather smooth divorce later, and Dad having taken the C&C, Doom, Tomb Raider and Resident Evil games with him (not to mean I haven't borrowed them regularly ever since), I ended up with a brand new PS2(on the EU market for less than a month) for my birthday. The laser needs nudging every now and then for it to play some PS1 games, but other than that it still does just fine.
Gran Turismo 3 & 4, GTA:Vice City & San Andreas, NFSU & NFSU2, Red Faction, SOCOM 1-3, Devil May Cry 1, 2 & 3, Final Fantasy X, Killzone, Mercenaries, LOTR: Return of the King, MoH:Frontline and Star Wars: Battlefront.
Coinciding with that I got my first PC. I cringe when I think of what I put that poor thing through. System Requirements meant bugger all. It would run with enough encouragement. Since then I've had two major upgrades with sporadic internal replacements. And I'm not even going to bother trying to list the games I own on PC.

About two years ago I picked up a DS Lite so that I'd have something to do during my commute.
Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver, Platinum, Diamond, Pearl, Final Fantasy 3 & 4.

And recently I was given Final Fantasy: Origins (1&2) and Anthology (4&5) on PS1 to complete my collection... somewhat. My only gripe is the Anthology version of 5's soundtrack. Ah well.

So that's my gaming history, save for the pages of PC gaming - honestly there are far too many to list - and in all this time spent writing this the damn woman hasn't replied to my email. Now I'm more bored than I was when I started typing, but that's a tangent for another day.

The consoles I have owned/still own (unless noted) are as follows.

Master System (My first console, don't own it now though.)
Mega Drive
Super Nintendo
Sega Saturn (I wish I still had this with me, but it's at my Nan's place.)
Dreamcast (My pride and Joy, I absolutely love this console and I am proud to own it.)
Nintendo 64
Gamecube (I'm on my second one now which is Silver. The other one bit the dust after a couple of years of great memories, R.I.P Purple Cube 2002 - 2006.)
Wii (used to own this, traded it in for a PS3 after two years when all it did was gather dust.)
Xbox
Xbox 360 (Owned two of these, both got errors, then I promised myself to never get another.)
Playstation
Playstation 2
Playstation 3 (On my second one now which is a Slim. My main console at the moment.)

Also, I have a desktop PC, and a few Plug and Plays of Intellivision and Atari.

Ok, so in chronological order of purchase:

NES: my first. Still have it, safely stored in a closet. One day my grandchildren will get to experience the classics as they were intended.
Mega Drive: see NES.
Super Nintendo: see NES.
Various PC's: throughout most of the 5th and 6th console generation I was strictly a PC gamer, with the exception of ...
Game Boy Advance: loved this thing. Broke down in 2008, leaving me without a handheld.
PS2: got it for cheap in 2005 to catch up on some of the stuff I missed in the last 2 generations.
PS3: currently my main gaming platform. Also serves as a PS1.
Xbox 360: 3 of them crapped out on me, then I stopped replacing them.
NDS: Got this to replace my broken GBA.
PSP: Didn't buy this one. Got it on a sort-of permanent loan from a friend when he stopped playing games. Told me he'd rather give it to a friend than sell it.
Gamecube, Xbox and Dreamcast: all purchased within a short span of time. All for the same reason: to play their exclusives.

Future additions are probably a PS Vita, possibly a 3DS and/or WiiU

In order (I think):

Gameboy
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Gameboy Pocket
Playstation
Nintendo 64
Playstation 2
Nintendo GameCube
Gameboy Advance SP
Xbox 360
Nintendo Wii
Playstation 3
Nintendo DS
(plus a few PCs and laptops)

Wow... that's kind of a lot. To think what ludicrous amounts of dosh I must have spent on this hobby over the last two decades... 0_0°
