Nobody has to die, all of them can survive.. I made all of them survive on my second playthrough, to do this you have to do all character specific side missions and succeed them.. And on the last mission you have to choose the people to lead the teams that the game advices you to..
Doing this will make it so all survives..
So npc tells me who to select? Damn i thought i was cool for picking the one i think its right, that the game needed some player skill on that choice

Agreed entirely.
I hated- and I mean very much meanhated- all the people who looked up what to do to get the perfect ending for the game the first time through. At that point you only bought the game for the shooting scenes.
OT: I lost Agent 47, the Butch chick, Mordin, Robocop... and I think that was it.
It was probably the most perfect ending for me. Lost enough of them to at least care about what had happened(was a little sad about Thane), but it wasn't so heartwrenching that it made me want to play again.
I kept Tali and Garrus. In the end that was all that mattered.
I consider the first mass effect to have a pretty weak story. It lacked things like that and some information on who the hell you fighting for, but in the second game, that suicide mission is really doing something that was never done before in a game.
In any case this game and reviews on witcher 2 bring me to say that i hate nonlinear stories for that reason, either you are not impressed with one of the endings you got, like witcher 2 or you do stuff that make things less impressive, in my case, i did everything which resulted inot a less shocking ending, DAMN IT, if i didnt bother with all quests that i would get a much better "Story" Thats what why i prefer linear stories that are designed to cause emotions on the user.
