It's been 10 years now since we were introduced to Shenmue. It's one of my all-time favourite games, and I'm wondering if this is being celebrated anywhere? I also think this would be a great time to drum up support for Shenmue 3.

While I would pee my pants at the announcement of shenmue 3, I suspect it's not going to happen. Love to be wrong though. Mark my words though, the original will see xbox live arcade release.

I hope it does see an XBL release. That may drum up some incentive to consider releasing a sequal.

Oh Shenmue. I don't know whether to love you for your greatness as a game or curse you for creating one of the most annoying features to ever grace the gaming wasteland: quick time events.

Fuck it, I'll love you and earn my place in the classic/obscure games playing crowd.

I'd be happy if they turned it into a book. Well...only if it included the 3rd part ¬__¬

I do hope the Xbox Live Arcade release goes through. I never played it, and really want to.

My Dreamcast broke a few years back...I miss Power Stone.

I only played Shenmue II, but damn, that was a brilliant game, and if I ever see it for sale in a shop, I am going to buy the hell out of it.
Still, difficult to waste $500 at the start of the game... so many of those little toys from the machines...

It's one of the many games I've played and loved, but got to about the end and lost my Dreamcast to my cousins again.

I loved both of them , even the dodgy voice acting was awesome! I still play the spiritual successors, the Ryuu ga Gotoku/Yakuza series!

Happy Birthday Shenmue!!

I really enjoyed Shenmue, and I'd definitely welcome a new release on the ps3 :3

Oh boy I love Shenmue and I might as well get even more gay and say that I really liked the way Ryu Hazuki had to work his way up (not just literary =)) and to have some bad and nagging conversations (in English) to get to Hong Kong.

However, he got there he learned to speak Japanese again and the combat and everything else was improved...BUT! It really sucked towards the end where you had to earn money to make a progress in the game. One could truly see that Sega was running out of Ideas (and money) at that time.

Still, it's an epic game. However, am I the only one who does not wish for a third installment?

When playing the game nowadays, at least for me, it helps to put yourself in the time frame it was released. It's not nearly as amazing now as it was then in my opinion, but I do maintain that it was years ahead of it's time.

@Hiphophippo, yeah it truly was ahead of it's time like you say. I don't know if it's me being all slow and a cheapskate and (since I don't own none of the new consoles) but I still feel that it's an epic game when you play it. It still looks good (even though it sometimes might look a little bit rough on the edges) Still, graphics aint everything :) right?
