This ironic statement is sage advice right here. I wouldn't reccomend out-and-out lying to them all the time, but if you own up to a very simple mistake, they'll trust you more often, making it easier to get out of trouble if you make a bigger mistake at some point in the future.

If you're still worried they'll be pissed, though, say your alarm malfunctioned or something. It didn't go off when you set it to. Plain and simple.
