Oh man, you have one of those "vita" things? I thought it was just a rumor...neonsword13-ops said:All of these great 3DS games are making my Vita jealous...
OT: I've never actually played an SMT game from the main series before. I've been wanting to try 3/Nocturne for a while, but I just can't seem to find a copy.
Anyway, I'm gonna need to "borrow" my sister's 3DS so I can play this, along with Fire Emblem and Pokemon X. >->
Kind of hoping the expectations change in the next decade or console gaming is going to be turning into generic mush.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:Gamers have been conditioned by western publishers to demand mainstream console games use the prettiest graphics. This is what happens when you have developers constantly going on about their latest graphics engines and rendering tools. Gamers start demanding that all console games look uber-swanky, even though doing so is prohibitively expensive. You've got sites like Eurogamer creating entire portions of their sites (Digital Foundry) to going through game visuals like a Heat magazine on celebrity cellulite. You've got gamers putting up 360vsPS3 graphics comparison videos, then arguing about them by the millions. This is the mindset we've created for home consoles, and it's not a mindset that responds well to deliberately visually-low key releases like SMTIV.Colt47 said:The problem I have with people arguing about development budgets is that they don't have to milk everything out of the console. Does anyone here even believe that the arcade / indie titles are using the consoles full grunt?
Arcade and indie titles are niche. I love 'em, but they do not make the majority of game sales on consoles. Typically those indie games sell far better on other platforms, like PC and handhelds, because expectations of high-end production values are lower.

Welcome to the games industry, where every major game has to have guns and brown people to shoot, has to sell 5 million copies, and have the potential for annual sequels. Been tripping along like this since our shares plummeted in 2008, and no sign of stopping now.Colt47 said:Kind of hoping the expectations change in the next decade or console gaming is going to be turning into generic mush.
Chin up mate. Muramasa Rebirth comes out in a couple months. You PSP Vita owners will finally have a great game besides all of the crappy ports that no one in their right mind would want to play('Cept for Persona 4 Golden, it's your only good game right now)...said Muramasa Rebirth is a port of a spectacularly good Wii game, but I digress.neonsword13-ops said:All of these great 3DS games are making my Vita jealous...
