So, being that I have never owned a tablet or anything Android for that matter, I consulted a friend on apps I should get my hands on to play on my fancyschamncy new Nexus 7 tablet. He recommended that I get Dead Trigger because it played VERY well and looked delicious. And needless to say it looks so delicious I could wrap it up with lead and eat zombie and metal pinwheels for lunch.

I am awful at FPS games. I'll play them from time to time but not often. So I hesitantly got it and tried it out. I was having quite a bit of fun. The touch control are a bit awkward and if I had my way, I'd be using a controller. But even still, I challenged the Arena, where only the toughest of the tough duke it out in endless onslaughts of zombie mayhem. And it sort of reminds me of Zombies from Black Ops, BUUUUUT that is beside my point.

I started out not doing so well. I don't have the enhanced scanner, so zombies directly behind me won't show up on my radar. Trying to maneuver and fire at these zombies at the same time was a bit of a challenge on its own, having played Dead Trigger for maybe half an hour. I had zombies hitting my flanks and my backside and almost died a few times, so I was quite positive that I wasn't going to make it past Wave 2...if I even made it through Wave 1. But then I started getting hyper aggressive and firing my way through hordes of zombies(I also found out that kiting these bastards is a pretty effective strategy, too) and I am now challenging Wave 8, still going strong. All I've got for this bloodbath is my trusty Scorpion and Colt 1911, and I feel like I'm doing rather well for myself considering how bad I am at this type of game.

Update: 15 waves and I have finally fallen! I feel pretty good about that.

So, my friends, I ask you: Have you ever had a crowning moment of glory where you managed to succeed far beyond that of what you thought yourself capable?

Silent Storm
With my medic lying dead at my feet, the engineer slumped over a chair, and both of my soldiers long gone from the first attack, I stand with 8 shots left and 10 enemies before me. With the one turn left before I am killed I fire the 8 shots blindly through the doorway hoping for the best. As the turn ends I prepare to hear the sad sounds of defeat. But then, I hear the trumpet of victory.

(Turns out the fist guy I shot had a heavy machine gun and as he fell backwards he mowed down his entire remaining team. In short, Fluked an amazing victory)

There have been some Final Fanyasy Weapon battles that ended unexpectedly faster and better than I thought they wuld. I figured I'd win, but DAMN. Then, of course, there's using Cloud, Barret, and Cid in the final battle and Sephiroth never gets off a Super Nova because we all went ultimate Limit Break on him.

Another instance I can think of was...a night with my friends at the club, passing around the controller and laughing at a DBZ game story mode, because it's just so damn ridiculous that we have to. The controller gets passed to me and I have been observing others to see how the controls work, but I dunno the tricks to special powers. I'm just working what seems natural. And what am I doing? Just the battle between Goku and Frieza, of course. Oh wait, that sucker's got powers and he's an asshole. I've GOT TO put 'im down! We're taking down each other's health bars down to the wire, the last bits of health in this grand power struggle when suddenly- HUH?! HOW THE HELL DID I JUST DO THAT?! Frieza gets flattened by an ultimate Kamehameha Wave, a CUTSCENE-ENABLING Kamehameha Wave...which means he doesn't just get floored. He's over-floored!

Let's talk Saint's Row 3, then. I've gone all over the place to find gang events where you waltz in and kill a gang doing...something. Only, I found out one's on top of a roof. Well, how should I handle th- Ohh...hello airfield. Just lemme crash a plane into there and blow everyone away, then jump off of the building and into a car to make my get away from every ganger in the world even when they have helicopters. I am a master of escape, even from the army!

I played some Heroes 3, with the In the Wake of Gods fan-made mod. As some of you would know, in H3, the computers would sometimes come for you with a big army, something they normally shouldn't have. Well, in WoG it happens more often and more brutal

Pure madness. Kalt there had friggin' high stats to boot. Those nearly 300 champions would have torn me a new asshole, had they been able to act. Had they been the only ones to worry about, I would have been OK, however, the phoenixes were the new third upgrade introduced in WoG - they resurrect themselves twice. And have fire shield. So they swoop in immediately and disable one my shooters, so I have to throw lots of army on them and lose a large portion of it. And those zealots? Again, third upgrade - they shoot twice and have no shooting penalties. They devastated anything they hit. The 315 dendroits and the 143 genies weren't pushovers, either.

For the record, my dragons were a new upgrade of the unit, too - that's what saved me. They attack and return and have no retaliation, also cast berserk on the victim. I managed to use them to stop the champions and use them to my advantage. I wouldn't be able to win the fight without them. I was left with only 5 dragons at the end. And I had to go buy the population from three towns and then hide a fourth one to even get a chance to win. Kalt would have roflstomped me in any other case.

Well, it's not like I could continue my game after that...It was a pyrrhic victory - Kalt was the strongest enemy hero but there were plenty others that I could no longer even touch :( Still, I am happy I managed to win that. It was HARD.

Just then in Dwarf Fortress.

I breached the first Cavern layer, and decided to cut a wall of fortifications to defend myself with for when a forgotten beast came. As I finished building the wall, a Forgotten Beast appeared. I decided "Well, that's good timing. Raise the bridge and lets carve in these fortifications" [For those who don't know, a bridge in Dwarf Fortress acts like an impassible and indestructible barrier when raised, so you just build them as gates].

I derped. Bad. Instead of fortifying my walls to allow my archers to shoot out, I removed them by accidentally using the wrong designate function. The Forgotten beast came charging towards my dwarves, and started chasing them in circles around a chasm. I sent my military in - the whole 2 Dwarfs. My Swordsdwarf just walked up to the forgotten beast, grabbed out his sword, stabbed it through the head before twisting the blade, killing the beast instantly.

As if that wasn't enough, Troglodytes decided to attack. 12 of the buggers came towards my Marksdwarf - who was apparently Chuck Norris in disguise. He just punched each of them in the face, crushing the skull into the brain and killing them instantly. A giant Earthworm decided to appear, to which my Swordsdwarf decided it was a good time to become Leonidas and kicked it, sending it flying down the chasm.

I then sent the pair on a purge run whereby they killed 2 Reachers, 24 Crundles, 2 Giant toads and a few other things I don't remember simply by walking up to them and stabbing/shooting/punching them in the head. I ended up saving and quitting mid way through my purge as it was getting a bit much with my 2 Dwarfs devastating everything they came across. Steel Swords and armour, and Silver Crossbows and bolts really work wonders.

Three manning the Lich King in World of Warcraft at level 85, with a team of an arms warrior, a BM hunter (me) and an enhancement/restoration shaman.

I'm not a raider, neither are my two sidekicks here. They've at least done Naxxramas in WotLK, but all my raid experience is either solo or with them. We've done all of vanilla and TBC raids, and most of WotLK, but ICC was something else, buffs and all. We went in completely blind (for the most part), not knowing the strategies for each boss. All in all it took us about 9 hours to reach the Frozen Throne, and another 5 to beat LK.

I lost count of our wipes, but I'm pretty sure I'm not exaggerating if I say 100+. I was ready to give up so many times, but then we'd always figure out a way to progress just a little further, until we got him down to 10% which is basically where the fight ends. You might argue that we didn't really beat him, since we did it at level 85 instead of 80, but the fight sure as shit isn't made for three people. Not to mention he can still one shot people at level 85 if you let him. By far the hardest fight I've ever done, ever, in ANY game.

For anyone familiar with the fight, for us the toughest part was killing the valkyries before they dropped one of us to our death. Ten wipes into phase 2 and I was absolutely convinced that we'd never get past it.

After the obligatory victory celebration I searched LK on youtube and watched some videos of people soloing him. I cried myself to sleep that night.

Killing Kil'Jaeden was pretty cool too, but that was mostly due to the hype created during TBC. At 85 you can take his hits, turn the other cheek, and be just fine. Two-manning C'thun in WotLK felt good, though the hardest part was getting past the Twin Emperors.

This one game of League of Legends was so awesome. I was playing AD Twisted Fate (even though AP is almost certainly better) and I was constantly backdooring every single tower they had. Without dying when they come to 5v1 me.

Time Destiny right and you'll see all those little red character portraits on the map converging on your location... Now go ahead and teleport halfway across the map. They might even get to see you disappear if they're fast enough.

I did this about 10 times during the mid/lategame, the one Garen got close to me once. I just ducked into a bush and got out before he could hit me with the silence.

TF is so much fun... It's like robbing a bank, getting away flawlessly and the security guards are jumping on their hats in frustration.

I love the theme of his character as well. Y'know low health guy manages to get away on nothing, starts to recall in a bush then that little eye lights up above his head and this circle of red cards shows up right beside him.

"Your fate has turned..."

I gotta say, that's pretty amazing. It's times like those that make you wanna hop up and do a victory dance. xD

It wasn't me, but a couple friends and I were playing Halo: Reach multiplayer, just the 4 of us. A zombie match. The zombies had super speed and swords/hammers, while the humans had shotguns and sniper rifles. We were up top a hill, me protecting his flanks(we had two entrances behind us. Well, one of our friends yelled out that he was coming, and he was charging after me with a hammer, but the dude with a sniper rifle had turned around and, without zooming or properly aiming, shot him dead in the face in the middle of his charge.

His hammer flew into the sky and he did a full backflip like he'd been clothes-lined. Needless to say, that was the highlight of the battle. xD

I always get swarmed in games like those. I can't micromanage quick enough to get any semblance of a proper force before the enemies have their hordes upon me. :{ Back when I was a kid, my mom's ex-fiance would have an army twice the size of yours in a matter of minutes, which he would then use to protect against any assault you could throw at him while he builds his base up and pumps out more cannon fodder to put in your way. The sheer size of his army was enough to beat any of us, whatever we did.

Heroes is a turn based game. Technically, it is possible to do something akin to "zerg rush" but in practice it's not that likely. Also, by the time we amassed those armies, a long time had passed in-game - at least 3 in-game months. It's not possible for somebody to have "amassed" an army by then, since the population growth is the same across all players. In theory, that is - I had three towns of the same race, so I was getting three times the troops , while that other hero had troops from four different races. To add insult to injury, the creatures from his original town are the three with the lowest numbers in his army - he has three digit numbers in everything else.

I guess I'll have to elaborate here a bit - in order to buy other troops, he'll have to take over other towns. Also, it's extremely unlikely that can be done early, so by the time he gets the towns AND starts amassing creatures from there, I would have been stockpiling mine already. Also, all of his creatures grow at a rate of a single digit number per week. The 296 champions are come in 4 a week, for example. Also, that is assuming he had built the high level building required for them, and every creature (aside from the 24 sprites) is higher among the highest levels.

Yeah, if I hadn't played Heroes 3 for so long, I would have suspected cheating. So with my experience, I just know that the AI sometimes pulls stuff out of its ass just like that.

A few weeks ago after two sleepless nights I felt like playing some Super Monday Night Combat...

Now, normally I'm not that great at the game no matter who I'm pitched against, my 'score' is never the lowest in the game but it's also very rarely the highest.

Well, when I decided to play the game a few weeks ago I actually started to feel tired after three or four games so I decided I'd play one more and try to get some sleep.

What followed was quite possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever done, the tiredness pushed me into some kind of zone as I quite literally stopped processing the sounds coming from the game and anything around me...I just played without knowing what the hell I was doing. The game ended with me being at the top of the scoreboard, having 20 more kills than the person behind me and zero deaths. I slept like a baby after that.

Hmm there's a few specific ones that stay with me, though every so often I get a pretty cool badass mode thing where I just seem to do everything perfectly, usually when I'm almost dead. My most recent one though was while playing the War of the Roses beta. I like playing a longbowman (don't have xp to set up my custom one yet because the damn game refuses to give me my xp and money!) and I just went on a rampage. Killed two ranged people trying to counter me, got two guys that were teaming up on an ally, got a free kill on an enemy trying to execute someone, dropped another that was trying to zig-zag to close the gap and get me in melee, then killed a heavy knight and a footman with just my sword (kind of forgot I had a shield). All of those except the sword kill were head shots. I got a few assists during that run by hitting people in the body. Helped my ego when a couple guys on the other team complimented my shooting. I then died to a bastard with shield/spear combo.

I have yet to repeat that, but I'm gonna say that was pure skill and not a single bit of luck or bad enemies was involved because I am clearly a badass!

Ahh, that makes more sense. I didn't understand too clearly since I'd never played Heroes 3. I looked at a couple pictures and it reminded me something of an RTS. Guess that shows me for only looking at a couple, right? :p Mike(mom's ex-fiance, so I don't have to keep saying that) was always suspected of cheating because he had vast amounts of gold and resources that normally would take a lot longer to get your hands on than when he did. BUUUT now your battle seems all the more epic. Shame you took too many losses to continue fighting the others, though.

After a long break, I booted up some Skyrim over the last week. I have a lvl 20 or so straight melee character that I'm enjoying a lot.

In TES games, I usually avoid melee at all costs because Bethesda just isn't very good at it yet. I already finished the game with a sneak-everywhere type character, thought I would try something different for a change. Turns out, it's loads of fun. Much more action, timing involved.

Been fiddling with a few mods to add 'random'-ish encounters into the game. The ones I like the most so far are Warzones and Immersive Patrols -- wish there was something like those two for all other Bethesda-engine games (*cough* FNV, FO3).

Anyways, heading west from Rorickstead, I crested a hill and got mobbed by about 20 Forsworn. They were just finishing off some Imperials who happened to be in the area. My follower and I got completely wiped in about 10 seconds flat.

Reloaded, did the same thing. This time, the Imperials and Forsworn were still going at it about evenly. We charged in, tipped the scales in favor of the Imperials, cleared out all the Forsworn in the area (turned out to be at least 30 or so).

It was fairly epic.

I was playing Napeloen: Total war. I was playing as Sweden, while my enemy was playing as Austria. The center of the map was a large ridge, cutting the map in two pieces. I started to move my men up the ridge, while my opponent was moving his entire around the Ridge, not wanting to fight for it.

Not a single shot had been fired about five minutes in. The man had forgotten about his artillery, and left it behind for a small time. I capitalized by using my two Life-Guard Calvary to kill them. The guy, realizing his mistake used a few skirmishers to shoot my calvary in the back as it ran, routing one of them and heavily depleting the other.

Skip about 8 minutes, and we are engaging each other with our linemen. My formation started to break as he overwhelmed my position. When I was able to retreat, all I had was a line unit with only 20 men left, a single cannon, My general unit (depleted) and a skirmisher unit that was on the other side of the map (routed earlier). My opponent had four linemen units left, with about 50 men left in each one, and a skirmisher unit with 30 men left.

My opponent ignored my cannon unit, and ganged all four units up on my remaining linemen unit.

Then the most amazing thing happened.

With the help of General abilities (rally/inspire) my men held out under the fire. My cannon switched to a Canister shot and barraged them from their flank. My skirmisher unit finally joined the fray, firing into the backs of the Austrians. Already wavering from the death of their General, the remaining units routed. The match ended with my General unit chasing down their skirmisher unit.

Empire: Total War. Playing the Maratha, and being absolutely pounded on by my Mughal opponents. My town was attacked, and my army held them off despite taking some losses. Attacked again, and still managed to hold. Then a third army arrives. By this point, I'm down to my general, one regiment of riflemen, and three mortar batteries. Expecting to die, I vow to take as many with me as I can. Literally the first volley of mortar shells strikes the Mughal general dead. Their horsemen charge the mortars, looking to overwhelm the one regiment of gunners defending them, but another mortar lands right in the middle of their charge. One round of gunfire later, and their spirit is broken.

Which means I turn my attention to the four regiments of gunmen approaching. Lacking anything better as far as options, I send my general and his elephants in to at least keep them busy while I rain mortar fire on them. Amazingly, this works (though I blame it more on the fact that they brought militia to the fight rather than trained soldiers, so they were already demoralized before the mortars and being charged by attack elephants thing). I started to advance my gunners toward their flank, as they'd turned the entire force to face the elephants. Another mortar took a huge chunk out of them, and one volley of bullets from my gunners shattered the morale of two of the four. When they turned to run, the other two gave up the fight. I ended up losing four elephants.

Got ambushed by 4 Dragons at once (1 Blood, 2 Frost, 1 Ancient). The fight lasted damn near half an hour, but I killed them all.

I just wish there had been some locals around to see it.

The murder of crows: Hitman Blood money

A half of hour me outwitting three damn assassins:

Shot one with a sniper rifle across the street (After drugging the occupant of an small apartment building while he watching football. Sorry bro, I paid you when its over).

15 mins, Later I snuck into the Assassin HQ with the Diamonds, took someone hostage and shot the guy between his eyes. Then I push the hostage over the ledge and made it an accident.

The last one, the female crow, I found he rback when I store the redcrow body and shot her on the spot, she felled to her knees and I put one in her head. I gather my suit, left the sniper rife and left New orleans.

The perfect icing? Motherfliping Slient Assassin.
