Shiny Pidgey Meme/Anger Management question.

Okay, so my girlfriend was supposed to come over to my house today because I was going to go take her to a movie. She lives about 20 minutes away, and the movie we were supposed to see started at 4:15, which was in about 40 minutes. I figured ?cool, I?ll just play Pokemon while I wait?.
So I?m playing Pokemon, and having a pretty damn good time. Anyway, she finally does show up, except she?s crying as she walks into my room. Instead of doing the right thing by comforting her, I half-focus on my game and her. She starts telling me her cat died, and just as she was getting into it, I get into a random encounter in my game.

A shiny pidgey. Holy shit. (For those of you who don?t know/care, shiny Pokemon have less than a 1/1,000 chance of appearing; 1/8192 to be exact.). I stare into my screen in amazement, yelling ?holy shit, YES?, interrupting her mid-story. She sobs more, and she starts to yell ?You don?t even fucking care! YOU JUST WANT TO PLAY YOUR FUCKING GAME!? I?m still looking at my screen, still focusing on catching my shiny Pidgey, when she walks over, and tosses the game against the wall. I run over and pick up my DS hoping that nothing has changed on screen, and quickly noticed that she broke it. My system and my shiny Pidgey, gone forever.

I start screaming every obscenity I know, and started flailing my arms around. I didn?t know she was behind me, and apparently I backhanded her in the face while I was being a dumbass and swinging my fists around. She yells out ?FUCK YOU?, and runs out of my house in tears.
What have I done? I?ve fucked up so badly, and I need to know how to approach her. I don?t want a game of Pokemon to be responsible for ruining my best relationship ever. Help me, /b/.

Question: In a situation like the above story, if someone made you angry and you wanted to express your anger but you know it is something they would not understand. Would you even make an attempt to express your anger out on them knowing they don't care/don't understand why you would be angry? or would you control it by bottling it up?

Edit: I don't suffer from anger management, I was just curious about what people would do in this situation.

I would bottle it up, as i always do. Im like the Hoover Dam of emotions, i store them in vast amounts and use them to generate energy.
But on a slight tangent... a Pidgey? really? even if it was shiny, a Pokemon (or any game for that matter) is a pathetic excuse to ignore a, and i quote, "best relationship ever". Especially if she was in tears. After all, a game will pause, life wont.

Usually when I'm angry I bottle it up and be calm about it. If it gets to much I usually just say "excuse me" and leave, usually releasing my stress and anger by taking it out on my punching bag or going for a run. Video games help too.

I couldn't really imagine myself in the above situation...I care to much about other people feelings to really let myself get angry or distracted if my loved one came in crying.

The last time I got angry over something so petty was when I was in middle school and yelled at a kid behind me for tapping his feet on my chair. I still feel bad about letting myself go like that, even when I apologized. Damn bleeding heart.....

Im sorry I quoted from a different website posted it then asked a question pertaining to said story. Which im assuming was only written for humorous reasons not a real life story. I don't know why doing this angered you so much but I will say it again I am deeply sorry.

As a counselor I am trained to and recommend to others to express their emotions in an appropriate, direct, and non-violent method without any name calling. If you bottle up emotions, the conflict will be unresolved and it will leak out through indirect ways.

It doesn't matter, if you can't express the details or scope of the feeling. If you can't say anything just state the feeling (i.e. "I'M ANGRY" or make a noise as big as the emotion is.) It's better to express and resolve a conflict with a peer than to let it become emotional poison.

To tell you the truth, I get too much of this at school from a classmate that still thinks /b/ is the best thing since the invention of the wheel. Sorry if that transferred over to you, it's just that there have been so many threads based off of 4chan things that it's getting quite old and rather bland.

Well, it was an example of the question I was trying to get across, I could have found another story but this pertained to the question at hand but I found this one humorous. If you didn't find it humorous there was also a discussion question that didn't even pertain to the story and you can discuss about that, or just not post. There was really no point to express your outrage for something that was completely innocent, now if it was just a knee-jerk reaction I would understand, but if you read the OP you would of realized this whole subject has next to nothing to do with 4chan.
