Well, I've been contemplating typing this out on the forums for a pretty decent amount of time, and I've finally decided to just write it up and get it over with.

I am not a female.

Now when I first came here, I used an avatar of Hayley Williams, as I am a big fan of Paramore. As time went on, people started to assume I was a female (a rather humorous situation) and really took no questioning to it. While my initial reaction was to dispel the belief, I ended up leaving the topic untouched for a while. People started to question what sex I was after an amount of time and I was pressured to make a statement on the whole "What gender is Shivari?" thing, so I decided to go with what everyone had initially assumed; I said that I was a girl.

So basically, I ran with it and decided that I couldn't go back from there. I definitely found it interesting how the same personality can be more hailed when the gender is viewed differently, but other than noticing that and the occasional giggling at some of the fanboys I acquired, I went about my forum life as if it were no different than anything else. I wasn't trying to trick people; it was just something that I was doing. I will say that everything I have said on these forums that hasn't had to do with stating my gender has been completely factual. I'm still the same person with the same opinions and same personality; you just now have a fainter hint as to what I may actually look like.

So hate me if you wish, as I did lie to you and to everyone on here. It's something I porbably should have never started, but I did. It's been a situation that I took advantage of, nothing more, and nothing less. I apologize if this has annoyed or hurt you in any way, just understand that I had no mal intent.

So, in case this totally doesn't justify being a thread at all, a discussion prompt could be "What have you ever had to confess?"

I forgive you, until a few weeks ago I was pretending to be a time-traveler in Lebanon.

Congratulations on your epic reveal.

My confessions are few and far between. I don't bother lying about who I am online unless it's occasional roleplay characters who are vastly different from me. Even then, it's a matter of "To the death."

I'm curious as to whether Ultrajosephine or yourself are treated differently after this because of your gender.

Interesting that you still have your gender listed as female on your profile...
Meaning that anyone who doesn't read this thread will still assume that you are a girl.

The exact opposite of the Ultrajoe revelation. Man, that was ultra (refer to Labby's Escapism Sydney thread to see what I mean).

EDIT: Speak of the Devil :)

It's the Internet. My rule is not to trust gender claims. Although your situation could have been avoided if you set male as your gender on the profile. Plenty of people have avatars of the opposite sex.

I distinctly recall being very confused as to what your gender was...

Wait, so first we find out that Ultrajoe is female and now Shivari is male? Huh... well, to this information I say...

So what? You're still the same person you were two days ago, regardless of what you claimed to be or what you didn't.

As for what I've admitted, I had to admit I was gay. That was a big one. And yeah, it pretty much ended up being the same thing as I just said. I'm still who I was three seconds ago, just with a bit of more information shared. It's like finding out where you went to high school or what your favorite movie is.

Nothing wrong with what you did: This is the internet after all, so we can be whatever we type we are. Also, it just goes to show the awesome power of the avatar.

Something I will confess... I never use my real name online... :O

People will probably start swooning over UltraJoe, as that kinda happened with me. Although, Ultra has always been quite loved, so it's not like she's becoming famous overnight. On the other hand, I kinda just popped up all of a sudden.

Also, I might keep the female thing on my profile and just put something in the profile that would basically say that it's a lie. A nice set of contradictions would leave the ignorant quite baffled by my profile.

That's basically what I want people to see, although, I don't think anyone will totally freak out.

Now THAT was my first case of Escapist Shock. I did not know that had I not joined in one of those IRC chat sessions.
