According to this [http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/22/lone-star-college-shooting_n_2527806.html#26_lone-star-says-situation-under-control] the situation is under control. Apparently it was an altercation between a few students. Doesn't sound like a premeditated shooting, but who knows at this point.

I'm willing to bet 99.9% of students in America will never witness a school shooting. I'd hardly consider that a battleground.
I don't know man.

I have it on pretty good authority that love is a battlefield. Schools are probably next.

In that case American schools are fucked. Where's the ban on underage boners? I DEMAND CHANGE!

A friend of mine who works right down the block from Lonestar College told me about this earlier. Three people were shot, no word of fatalities yet. Apparently some sort of argument that got out of hand. Tons of cops all over the place looking for the gunman who escaped.

"The two people that I took care of had just minor injuries. One gentleman had a gunshot to the knee and the [other] actually had an entry wound to the lower buttocks area."
How this qualifies as a 'mass shooting' i do not know.

Seems like a pretty unfortunately typical scenario made into a sensation because it took place on a campus. I remember just a week or two ago here, some unknown vigilantes shot a robber who panic-fled while injured into the backyard territory of a German Shepherd. Now THAT was news!

This is getting ridiculous now. Seriously to all would be shooters, they are all asses for not having a slight changed of heart after hearing or watching the recent shootings!

Why do I dread the idea that these shootings happen because the shooters were "inspired" by the previous incidents? It's interesting how it only happens in 'murica as well.
nah, it definitely happens in other places. Once every couple of years some nutjob in the UK gets a gun and grand ideas too. [sarcasm]That's always a hoot.[/sarcasm]

Oh US, now you're just being ridiculous. Seems like they don't even wait for the last one to end before starting the next. Maybe the NRA was right all along, at this rate schools will be empty before any regulations are through!

At least two people were shot at Lone Star College in Texas on Tuesday, according to local news reports.

An alert posted on the school's website warned students to take shelter.

"LSC-North Harris is locked down," the alert read. "Students, faculty and staff are advised to take immediate shelter where you are. Do not enter the campus until notified further."

Aerial footage showed SWAT team members evacuating students several buildings on the campus in North Harris County near Houston.

A female student told KTRK-TV heard five shots fired in an area between the library and the cafeteria. Other students say they heard gunshots when they were in cafeteria.

Posting a warning on their website? I'm not sure how effective that can be...

Also, Lone Star College?

You just made me laugh hysterically at a thread about a school shooting. Damn you spaceballs!

Also NRA and media Grrr, videogames hurrah, and mental health needs better PR. That sums up my opinion.

Eh, it's probably one of the faster ways to get news out. For most colleges, there's not really a PA system, and if you use the WiFi, the "homepage" is the schools website.

For instance last year at my old school, there was a reported sexual assault in a stairwell; it wasn't posted on the website or anything like that and people flipped out over not being informed in a timely manner

Considering it looks like only 2 people were shot, I'm guessing it wasn't a "mass shooting" but more likely an isolated incident. But I guess conclusions shouldn't be jumped to until more information is released.

And people will blame the rifles when it's clearly the media that turn these people into fucking icons.

Hang on, allow me to express mock this thread.

LOLOLOLOLOL

I went to Lone Star.
My friend is a professor there.
Two people had a shoot out with each other.
The only ones who got hurt were the two guys shooting at each other and a maintainence worker caught in the crossfire.
Nobody died.

Mass shooting my shiny metal ass.

So what have we proved here? The state of gun enthusiasts ends up with significantly less people hurt than the non-gun states?

Interesting. The more they talk about gun control, the more shootings there are.
Yea, go figure. The more you talk about something the more common the idea becomes. And the more shooters are on TV the more attention-seeking crazy people will use that as a way to get it.

I'm worried now. Better call my friends and see if they're okay.

On the other side, this school shooting thing shouldn't become a fad of sorts. I don't understand what the fuck is going on in the shooters' minds at this point...

CAN YOU ALL STOP?!?! PLEASE??? FOR FUCK'S SAKE, SCHOOL SHOOTINGS AIN'T COOL AT THIS POINT!! DOES ANYONE THINK OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PROBLEMS DUE TO EVENTS LIKE THIS?? DO YA?? PUTTING BULLETS INTO PEOPLE AIN'T GONNA HELP ANYTHING, AND NEITHER WILL MISINFORMATION THAT CAN COME FROM OTHER PEOPLE/PLACES THAT LEAD TO MORE FIGHTING!!

/rant

I needed that off my chest. Sorry if I came off rude in the spoiler.

Mass Shooting? How about two retards trying to kill each other with illegal handguns and hitting a bystander? This is hardly worthy of national news.

I don't think it is. I haven't seen or heard anything from the media.

I don't know what this thread intends to prove. On the pro-regulation side it wasn't really a "mass shooting" and on the pro-gun side you still had two morons who managed to hurt a maintenance worker. Not that they wouldn't have managed it otherwise, but it's there's still a case on how they got their guns.

Idiots will be idiots. Glad no one else got hurt.
