If you travel to Work or School and carry electronics, would you say their physical safety (Due to water damage, damage from general force on your bag or damage to your phone as you take it out) is a real issue to you? (1-10, 1 being "Of little concern" and 10 being "Of great concern")
10

Are you at all worried about the potential to be stolen from your bag (In ways such as someone unzipping and removing your valuables when you are not looking)? (1-10, 1 being "Of little concern" and 10 being "Of great concern")
1

If you were to have locks on your zips, would you prefer locks which require a key (To be carried separately) or simply locks which are physically not simple to open (In a way that a thief would probably not bother trying) (You may answer Key or No Key)
Key

Do you use head/earphones when travelling with your bag? If yes, then what size are they? (For example, just earphones or full-sized around-the-ear types)
Yes, neckband.

Do you often find them [Headphone cables] to be tangled when you take them from your pocket/back to use?
Rarely, i wear them around my neck or hook them to a bag strap

Have you run into times where your phone has ran out of battery whilst out? Would a small emergency charger be of interest to you in this case? (1-10 on how useful this sounds) - It would work for phones, PSP's, DS's and other similar devices.
10

How about a laptop/netbook/tablet charger, which could provide roughly an hour of additional use (1-10)(Ignore if you do not carry any of these devices)
6

Bonus info. I don't own a car and I hate to carry bags in my hands. I wouldn't consider a bag that wasn't large enough for me to throw in a gallon of milk in addition to a normal load.

10, safe being of electronics is pretty important. Water damage being the biggest concern.

Are you at all worried about the potential to be stolen from your bag (In ways such as someone unzipping and removing your valuables when you are not looking)? (1-10, 1 being "Of little concern" and 10 being "Of great concern")

Little concern, I usually keep anything valuable and my bag in sight, if it's something really worth holding onto it'll be on my person rather than in my bag, so 5 or so.

If you were to have locks on your zips, would you prefer locks which require a key (To be carried separately) or simply locks which are physically not simple to open (In a way that a thief would probably not bother trying) (You may answer Key or No Key)

No key, I'd probably lose a key if I had one.

Do you use head/earphones when travelling with your bag? If yes, then what size are they? (For example, just earphones or full-sized around-the-ear types)

Earphones.

Do you often find them [Headphone cables] to be tangled when you take them from your pocket/back to use?

If I don't have time to properly wrap them like I do, yes.

Have you run into times where your phone has ran out of battery whilst out? Would a small emergency charger be of interest to you in this case? (1-10 on how useful this sounds) - It would work for phones, PSP's, DS's and other similar devices.

It'd be nice to have, but not required. I'd give it a 6.

How about a laptop/netbook/tablet charger, which could provide roughly an hour of additional use (1-10)(Ignore if you do not carry any of these devices)

Same as before, a 6. Most people I know have their charger on hand, although this would be good if there is a lack of a place to plug in.

Would you consider "Normal load" to be a few textbooks, phone, netbook/tablet/laptop ?

In which case I have a good idea of the size it'll be, since that's about exactly what I can carry in my current bag.

10, especially with the water proofing. I am /really/ hard on my equipment. Durability and the ability to repel water are the number one requirement.

Are you at all worried about the potential to be stolen from your bag (In ways such as someone unzipping and removing your valuables when you are not looking)? (1-10, 1 being "Of little concern" and 10 being "Of great concern")
1. I never let my backpack out of my sight when I'm worried about stuff being stolen, anyway. If someone can sneak up on me, unzip the backpack, and walk off with the contents while I'm wearing it and without me noticing, more power to them, because they're good, and I doubt there's a security measure you can think of that they won't be able to get around.

If you were to have locks on your zips, would you prefer locks which require a key (To be carried separately) or simply locks which are physically not simple to open (In a way that a thief would probably not bother trying) (You may answer Key or No Key)

No key. Again, I'm not really worried about my stuff getting stolen; I'm all the security my backpack needs.

Do you use head/earphones when travelling with your bag? If yes, then what size are they? (For example, just earphones or full-sized around-the-ear types)
Just a pair of earbuds, usually. I occasionally take a big pair of over the ear heaphones in a backpack, but at that point it's because I'm using the backpack to transport them somewhere, not because I want to listen to something on the way.

Do you often find them [Headphone cables] to be tangled when you take them from your pocket/back to use?

I do, but I don't really mind it. The alternative is wrapping them around something (not good for the wires) or keeping a twist tie on me to wrap it properly and secure it -- and I doubt I'd be consistent in doing either one, even if I did try it out for a while.

Have you run into times where your phone has ran out of battery whilst out? Would a small emergency charger be of interest to you in this case? (1-10 on how useful this sounds) - It would work for phones, PSP's, DS's and other similar devices.
I'm going to vote a 10 on this one as well. My cell phone likes to die at the absolute worst moments.

How about a laptop/netbook/tablet charger, which could provide roughly an hour of additional use (1-10)(Ignore if you do not carry any of these devices)
Maybe a 2 on this? If I've got my laptop, I also have my charger, and this sounds like it would add a lot more to the cost and the weight than it would add to the practicality.

I don't carry them, but it would be useful. 8

Yeah, everything about this seems like a good idea, but I think that if you had a key for zippers then it would be a pain when someone loses their key.

Also, this. It needs to be reasonably large, and it needs to be able to consistently carry 30 or 40 pounds of stuff without tearing up. I don't often go that heavy anymore, but in high school, I went through a backpack every couple of months until I discovered that the ones sold in the sporting goods department were a lot more durable than the ones aimed at students. There's a feature on the one I'm using now that I would love to see standard on decent backpacs: the straps have a double construction, with the outer black layer not actually being load bearing, and an inner layer of really thick tan nylon holding the actual weight. It has been the most durable backpack I've ever owned, although after almost three years of use, it's getting close to time for a new one.

Incidentally, compression straps and a sternum strap would be nice. Hip straps are great as well, but not on a backpack sized for daily use.

No Key, potential to lose key is a huge negative.

Has happened once, I didn't really care, I'm not hooked on my phone like some people. As for if I'd want the charger, it's a cool idea, but impractical for me and it would weight and cost would be large factors.

* I may be an outlier here in that I DJ and Produce music, so I'm pretty pick about my sound and as such carry around my sizable production headphones with their extremely long chord. However they are quite expensive (200 for the model I have which is on the cheap side) so their safety is rather important to me.

Do you often find them [Headphone cables] to be tangled when you take them from your pocket/back to use?
* Like I said, the cable is absurdly long, so yeah, always, to the point where I use a specific pocked for the excess cord to avoid even messing with it. I also like the chord to have a little slack so I can feed it out if I need more.

Have you run into times where your phone has ran out of battery whilst out? Would a small emergency charger be of interest to you in this case? (1-10 on how useful this sounds) - It would work for phones, PSP's, DS's and other similar devices.
* 10, I'm sure this would be a solid selling point to some people. If you could figure out some sort of way to make it solar powered you'd be able to make tons off of the Festival crowd (which I am proudly a part of) as this happens all the time at fests where all you really have is your backpack.

How about a laptop/netbook/tablet charger, which could provide roughly an hour of additional use (1-10)(Ignore if you do not carry any of these devices)
*Same as above, I think it's very marketable, but if you could make it some sort of energy source that could be relied upon you'd do much better than something with a limited charge.

10. If my electronics are not safe, then it is not a bag I can use.

Are you at all worried about the potential to be stolen from your bag (In ways such as someone unzipping and removing your valuables when you are not looking)? (1-10, 1 being "Of little concern" and 10 being "Of great concern")

3. Not terribly concerned, as I typically keep my bag well protected.

If you were to have locks on your zips, would you prefer locks which require a key (To be carried separately) or simply locks which are physically not simple to open (In a way that a thief would probably not bother trying) (You may answer Key or No Key)

I'd prefer a key. I already keep a few on a keychain in my jacket. One more would be much more convenient for me than trying to fiddle with a lock.

Do you use head/earphones when travelling with your bag? If yes, then what size are they? (For example, just earphones or full-sized around-the-ear types)

I do not. When I did, however, I used earphones from a portable CD player. Not tiny like earbuds, but not around-the-ear giants, either.

Do you often find them [Headphone cables] to be tangled when you take them from your pocket/back to use?

I did not. I pushed the earphones down to my neck, and left the plug running through my jacket.

Have you run into times where your phone has ran out of battery whilst out? Would a small emergency charger be of interest to you in this case? (1-10 on how useful this sounds) - It would work for phones, PSP's, DS's and other similar devices.

5. I have run into times when my phone's battery has died, but it has become a very rare thing. Still, never horrible to have in an emergency.

How about a laptop/netbook/tablet charger, which could provide roughly an hour of additional use (1-10)(Ignore if you do not carry any of these devices)

N/A. My laptop has issues, and does not hold a charge at all. No clue why. So if I don't have access to an outlet, it doesn't get used.

9 (It's a big deal, but I'm not going to sacrifice my convenience entirely over it)

Are you at all worried about the potential to be stolen from your bag (In ways such as someone unzipping and removing your valuables when you are not looking)? (1-10, 1 being "Of little concern" and 10 being "Of great concern")

7 (Yes, but I'm fairly good at keeping track of my belongings.)

If you were to have locks on your zips, would you prefer locks which require a key (To be carried separately) or simply locks which are physically not simple to open (In a way that a thief would probably not bother trying) (You may answer Key or No Key)

No Key (In case you lose your own key so you don't have to tear the bag apart)

Do you use head/earphones when travelling with your bag? If yes, then what size are they? (For example, just earphones or full-sized around-the-ear types)

I use a cross-between full headphones and the type that just go over the ear. They're sound resistant and compact, which is good for me.

Do you often find them [Headphone cables] to be tangled when you take them from your pocket/back to use?

It depends on the set-up. I do find it annoying if they are tangled, though.

Have you run into times where your phone has ran out of battery whilst out? Would a small emergency charger be of interest to you in this case? (1-10 on how useful this sounds) - It would work for phones, PSP's, DS's and other similar devices.

5 (Depends on the size. There's not enough information for me to make a solid decision with.)

How about a laptop/netbook/tablet charger, which could provide roughly an hour of additional use (1-10)(Ignore if you do not carry any of these devices)

5 (Really, it's the same as the last question. There's also the concern of weather resistance and potential electrical and fire hazards.)

Indifferent (5), but if it makes the bag significantly heavier, then I have no interest.

And I know you didn't ask for this, but I still have to say that I, personally, far prefer messanger bags than backpacks because they are generally more accessible, especially if I'm going to be listening to music with my mp3 player in my bag.

If you were to have locks on your zips, would you prefer locks which require a key (To be carried separately) or simply locks which are physically not simple to open (In a way that a thief would probably not bother trying) (You may answer Key or No Key)
*no key
Do you use head/earphones when travelling with your bag? If yes, then what size are they? (For example, just earphones or full-sized around-the-ear types)
*mainly full size, but occasionally earbuds
Do you often find them [Headphone cables] to be tangled when you take them from your pocket/back to use?
*no
Have you run into times where your phone has ran out of battery whilst out? Would a small emergency charger be of interest to you in this case? (1-10 on how useful this sounds) - It would work for phones, PSP's, DS's and other similar devices.
*10!
How about a laptop/netbook/tablet charger, which could provide roughly an hour of additional use (1-10)(Ignore if you do not carry any of these devices)
*10!

If you travel to Work or School and carry electronics, would you say their physical safety (Due to water damage, damage from general force on your bag or damage to your phone as you take it out) is a real issue to you? (1-10, 1 being "Of little concern" and 10 being "Of great concern")

Yes, small earbuds.

Do you often find them [Headphone cables] to be tangled when you take them from your pocket/back to use?
No, as I loosely wind them up.

Have you run into times where your phone has ran out of battery whilst out? Would a small emergency charger be of interest to you in this case? (1-10 on how useful this sounds) - It would work for phones, PSP's, DS's and other similar devices.
Nope. On both counts.

How about a laptop/netbook/tablet charger, which could provide roughly an hour of additional use (1-10)(Ignore if you do not carry any of these devices)
4, as I only rarely carry a laptop. If it adds significantly to the weight, then no.
