Honestly? I didn't like either of ME1's love interests from the perspective of actually being involved with them. I romanced Liara because, well, Ashley was a goddamn space racist. On the other hand, it was a really hard choice picking who I wanted to go with in the second game.

Solution: Load a no-romances ME1 file, play through ME2 again. Problem solved.
I don't have a no romance ME1 file, I ALWAYS love Kaiden..............
There's a site for if you need new ME1 saves. [http://www.masseffectsaves.com/]

That's what Renegade interrupts are for.

Some ***** racist (or her sister) starts shit with Commander 'Galaxy Saviour x 2' Shepard? They're not getting out without a few broken bones.

I can't do that, that would mean being horrible :-O I don't 'do', renegade, I just can't bring myself to be that Shepard.

I play on the 360 not PC (my PC is a bit rubbish) but saves I have plenty of, just all of them love Kaiden (they all lead Liara on too, but that is because that scene where you pick is too funny if you say can't I have both) :)

Some of the Renegade lines are really [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy-eRfupYbA] awesome [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PjTuSQNLI4&feature=response_watch].

But they really built the Paragon badassery in ME2 as well, notably Shepard's response to stupid reporter ***** and in Tali's loyalty mission.

It's actually one of the few flaws in ME2's story: The characters and their relationships with Shepard never really get closure unless you sleep with them or something... The conversations just suddenly stop. It'd be nice if you at least could go through all of them personally before the final mission starts to get that feeling of closure.
I wholeheartedly agree. I finished the game and decided I didn't want to sink the time to replay and go through all the various romance options (though I will replay the finale and choose to destroy the Collector base rather than leave it intact). Seeing the depth of Thane's 'finale' really made the other romantic subplots seem frivolous by comparison.

By the end of my first playthrough I'd had to reject Jack to be with Tali (which she didn't take too kindly), but Miranda was left hanging. I must assume from this that you could actually choose one interest and leave the rest hanging without any of them wanting/demanding closure (a la "The Uncomfortable Conversation" scene in ME1) before the finale.

This is similar to the flaw in Planescape: Torment's storytelling. The amount of depth you get to experience in the story is limited by an arbitrary decision (or stat, in PS:T's case), as opposed to a meaningful one.

So what if she gets pissed at me, I say:

"Bring it on you blue assed bityoch! I've killed a whole army of geth and colloctors and two reapers if you want some suger then bring the heat!

Oh and the dialog option for that would be,

:I don't think so!

or something else like that...

My son mostly plays as a renegade or 'big meanie', as I like to call it ;-) So I do get to see a few renegade actions if he is playing where I can watch. He loves being rotten, don't know where I went wrong :-O I watched him punch the reporter though and that WAS satisfying.
EDIT - funny links, thanks :)

Who's the "canon" romance? You know, if you start a new save rather than import one into Mass Effect 2

No. Two years have passed, I think Shepard has the right to move the fuck on. Also, my Shep and Ashley had a casual sex sort of thing, not love. They have a spark, but it's not like they're going to marry or something. My Shepard is a James Bond-ish guy. Had a fling with Jack and Kelly, romanced Miranda.

If I'm forced to choose between Miranda and Ashley, I'll pick Miranda in a heartbeat. She and Shepard have an amazing attraction, she is the cold-hearted *****, he is the hot-headed bastard. They complete each other. Again, it's not a marriage and love sort of thing, they just want each other, it's hard to explain.

It's funny because if you play a true renagade and try to stick to the renagade path, you'll end up with a character who sleeps with Jack once, and probably otherwise has no love interest since they all require your character to be a pansy caring bugger, which is probably not who the character is.
IMO, if you want a romance, while playing a Renegade character, Miranda is the best option.

I started up a new save instead of loading one of my ME1 saves. I wanted to see what the choices were when I did that.

Wrex is dead, so is Alenko. Udina is in the Council and the old Council have died.

I think Ashley is the canon romance, since at the start of the game that redhead chick makes a suggestion that there was more to it than just friendship. Though I denied it since I didn't really like Ash.
The non-imported 'romance' is whoever is the opposite sex to Shepard. If you're playing a FemShep, Ashley died on Virmire. If you play ManShep, Kaiden died.

Also, there is no 'canon' council spot as you decide that on the shuttle out of the Cerberus base.

Oh hell Ashley made it quite clear she didn't want to have anything to do with me on Horizon, so to hell with her. I'm gonna stick with Tali.

you where dead, they moved on, it might have been like yesterday Shepard, but everyone else has moved on, it shouldent be cheating, Shepard may love them, but they either dont, do and cant or wont admit it, or there just a dick (im looking at you Willams") so i went with Tali end of story.

Try this one [http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v280/Amnestic/BlastEffect.jpg?t=1265650260]

Uploaded it to my own photobucket account instead of nabbing someone else's bandwidth :p

As for what ME3's "Shepard is a jerk" will be called, I was thinking "Commander Shepard: Return of the Jerk." But then, I'd have called the second one "Commander Shepard is a Jerk 2: Electric Boogaloo" so meh :p

Great minds think alike then, because that very same thought had crossed my mind.

That picture is great. Ah, Blasto... which reminds me, there was a distinct lack of Hanar in the second game. Perhaps they, the Elcor, and the Turians will feature prominently in the next game? We can only hope... I've had more than enough of the asari for now, and while the salarians, krogan, and quarians are cool, they've had their turn in the spotlight thanks to the second game.

(I'm not talking about team members mind you, just the species you meet.)

So wait, you're admitting that pursuing another love interest would be cheating, and you're asking about whether or not she should be mad in ME3 if you do cheat? Yes, I think she should.
Uh... How did you infer this? Where do I "admit that pursuing another love interest would be cheating?"

If you're referring to the "expected to react" part of what I said then read that sentence again in context. Failing that, allow me to place it in context: I was speculatively referring to how Liara (or more accurately the ME3 writers) expected you to react to Liara's treatment of you (i.e. blowing you off). That doesn't mean I agree with that expectation.
