Should I be fired?

Ugh... You had work the next morning, and yet you went out and drank enough to cause yourself to stink of it? And instead of calling in to say you were going to be late so you could wash up, you just decide to show up smelling of liquor?

You brought it upon yourself if you get fired, and quite frankly, if that's the way you're going to behave I don't think you deserved the job to begin with.

They're trying to run a business, the last thing they need is an employee showing up for work smelling like he just finished bathing in the sauce and ruining PR, something that is essential for a business to survive.

Seriously, what is up with people these days? Do they have no bloody self control? Or even common sense for that matter?

You're lucky to even get a hearing. I would have fired an employee for that on the spot. 1 hour per drink is the average "recovery" time. So if you had 12 drinks over 4 hours, that would allow you an 8 hour sleep to sober up. Most people I know who get shit-faced don't do that kind of math after the 3rd drink. Chances are, you were probably still legally drunk when you got to work but just couldn't tell anymore.

If you get fired, well... learn from it.

Dude, don't lie. I drink at work too. I can understand why you'd want to have a few shots from the flask. I'm a bus driver and I can tell you driving kids to school is fucking stressful, anyone would drink doing this job.

At most they should probably tell you to take the day off and get yourself cleaned up.
If you were my boss I would love to work for you!
I'm not saying I would pay you for that day of work though.

Not if this was the first time something like that had happened, though I suppose it depends on the job.
