Should I bother to get Ratchet and Clank on the go?

When I was between the ages of 13-16 I owned a PS2, but unfortunately I was under various outside forces preventing me from getting a lot of games (rural area with no game store and no income) but that probably could have been worked around if I didn't have another debilitating illness as a kid: extremely shitty taste.

So in short, I missed out on the Ratchet and Clank series, and I kinda want to give them a shot. I can get my old PS2 from my parents' place and my PS3 will cover the new installment, but the issue is that there are like seven or eight of these games and I do not have the time or patience to sit down and play eight games of a single franchise.

So any advice on this? Anyone?

Im not entirely sure of all of them, but if I had to pick the best, I would argue in favor of Up Your Arsenal, its a little different from the main series since it has some levels that are more arena style than level progression oriented, but otherwise its about the same. Regardless its just a damn, damn, damn fine game xD. Its a PS2 game, I didn't get to play the PS3 ones since I don't have a PS3.

Will I need to play the previous ones to know what's going on?

I don't know about on the go but every person I have heard who plays ratchet and clank have loved it. It's a great series and I remember it being one of the most fun games on the ps2

I also suffered from extremely shitty taste when I was a young lad, around the age from 7 to 10. I missed out on so many great classical PS2 games.

But I did play the Ratchet and Clank games, and I loved them, so get it.

i'm a huge Ratchet and Clank fan i'd honestly recommend playing every last one of them if you eventually have enough time. if i have to pick the best though, well, i'd say i enjoyed Tools Of Destruction for PS3 the best. i'm not sure why, it's just an absolute joy to play. for PS2 i'd go with Up Your Arsenal. i have such an incredible nostalgia for that game...

i actually feel weird saying these two because they really are all fantastic. maybe better advice is to start with whatever's cheapest. you're bound to get an amazing game no matter what. money-no-object, though; start with those two. hope this helps.

Don't think so, i mean aside from 2 or 3 characters that made previous appearances like captain Quark showing up its pretty much an isolated event, they get stranded in some place and do some stuff that involves explosions with a few choice buddies, the story explains itself.

That being said having prior experience can help you catch a few references, but nothing the game won't happily explain to you anyways.

The game isn't as much a continuation of the storline as much as it is just a really fun diversion. One that just happens to encompass the length of a full game in itself xD.
