Company of Heroes is on for 10 bucks to get all three games this weekend. Should I buy it? I've played Relic's other strategy games, mostly the Dawn of War series. Do the games play similarly?

You should buy Company of Heroes and Opposing Fronts and completely ignore Tales of Valor.

So for 6 DOLLARS instead of 10 dollars get the combo pack with the first two.

What's wrong with Tales of Valor?

It's lackluster, and considered to be an average at best game in the series.

So its like the Soulstorm to Dawn of War?

No, it's like Winter Assault, utterly short and meaningless save for the new race.

Granted, I liked WA's campaign a little but gosh was it short and meaningless.

Soulstorm added two races, had a ridiculously long and repetitive world-campaign, and some of it was enjoyable, but Tales of Valor seems to just add negative factors to it.

This short expansion is only for Company of Heroes completionists.

The Good
Core Company of Heroes gameplay still shines.

The Bad
Solo campaigns can be finished in just a couple of hours Three new multiplayer modes add little to online action.

Straight from GameSpot.

no, i played the demo and it ran fine on my computer, so i decided to get it. when i tried to play the whole game, it only showed a landscape, no units, obstacles, gunfire, nothing. and when i tried to tell relic about it they did nothing, they only told me that my video card was incompatible, forgetting the fact that the demo ran fine. dont buy it, their customer support sucks

Well, I liked Winter Assault as well, because it set up some of the best characters in the series, namely Gorgutz, Taldeer and Sturnn.

I love all of Relic's strategy games that I've played so far, hopefully COH won't disappoint. Now if only I could find Homeworld 2 somewhere.

Give me a minute and I'll point you to it.

I'd avoid Tales of Valor if I were you.

The ratings were this:

9.0 for CoH

8.0 for CoH: OF

6.0 for CoH: ToV

Thanks for that. Shame there isn't a digital version of the game around. Since I'm in University, I'm not sure they'd let me accept shipments here.

Universities have mailing addresses for students...

I don't like digital games much... I prefer physical just for the sake of a collection.

Definitely, especially if you like Dawn of War. It's my personal favorite RTS. It controls similarly to Dawn of War, but not exactly. You'll get used to the controls almost immediately. If I were you, I would just get the first one for $2.50 because I rarely play the expansions but the $10 pack is a great deal in itself.

Well that was a major piss off. Bought the original and Opposing Fronts.

First of all, I'd played the first one at max settings on my computer before. Yet now it lags like a *****.

Then, I cannot get my CD key for the game because Steam doesn't have enough of them, so I can't play Company of Heroes at all.

So then I play Opposing Fronts. Not only is the lag even worse, the game crashes constantly, despite my laptop being able to run Dawn of War 2 at max. And I can only play one of the campaigns, since the other one is so bugged that it crashes on the first mission.

I'd say to make sure you have all the patches and graphic driver updates.

I was playing the original Company of Heroes on Ultra-everything on my GTX 570 desktop quad-core and I don't see any problems. Man is it hard though.

I bought it off steam, and the forums told me that I should let steam do the updates instead of getting them off the internet. I uninstalled it and I'm waiting for a bit to reinstall.
