You're an idiot sir.

I know people from all walks of life who play WoW, half of what you would call popular kids do at my collage. Hell, I do, and i have lots of friends and go out a lot. Its just a game, only the weak minded would get addicted.
QFT. I play WoW (2 Geared 80's :3) and I have a large group of friends, am a starter on my football team etc etc. I guess I'm the exception that proves the rule huh?

WoW isn't a life destroyer unless you are a complete retard who would get addicted to anything anyway. If you want to buy it, get the basic box or battle chest and play through the free 30 days before you subscribe.

Oh i forgot to mention that i played Guild wars for 2 years, and got annoyed by the limited choices of appearance.

Seriously, if you're not Asian it's not super fun to complete the campaigns as one.

I have the factions game of Guild Wars.
Oh in that case go for it. I played Guild Wars for a good while and when I got to WoW it was like magic :p
Btw I saw somebody say you should play on a private server...do not play on a private server. It may be free but it's shite, and if you're found out you risk getting banned from WoW permanently. I played on one for like a day, it's buggy as hell and really underpopulated.

Well I've played the trial with a few days left, and now I've come to wonder:
Should i buy WoW and possibly BC and Wrath of the Lich king?

Now this will cost most likely 800 kr, that equals to 80 £.

So my question is, is it worth it, could you please post some highlights of the game/s and your personal views?
I was interested in playing as the rogue, and also, could you recommend a server for me to play on? (not PvP please)

If anyone wants to calculate 800 kr to US dollars the rate is 6 kr for a dollar.
No

Just no

Okay seriously NO !

i'm not going to tell youwhy i'm just gonna say NO !

i'm not being stearotypical it's that i've seen up close what happens when someone buys WoW
i myself almost fell into it but my PS3 Pulled me back

SO NO !

Well, in that small creepy world of Australia, the people who ply WoW go into the corner of the playground and play on DSs... sooooooooo yea

After reading the first response to your question I'm going to ahve to agree that I think WoW is on its way out as an mmo. I used to play and it's going the path of starwars galaxies in that its making the game so "fun for everyone" that things like raiding have become basically a joke and alot of people have left because of that. I don't really know the new expansion that well, but I heard that the new raids are going to be more difficult so maybe that will be a saving grace.

The game itself is as everyone knows very prone to addiction, with the added achievements even more so. When I played I really enjoyed playing it, making friends with random people you'll never meet, raiding, arena, pvp; the whole works. Getting to 80 with one character is going to be important if you want to stick with the game because it opens up alot of other options like arena and raiding that are going to keep you interested, but the pre80 content is still good especially the first few time through. What gets you through your second character is meeting people on there that are going to keep you entertained while you do that same quest you've done before. That makes it more of a chat room with a game attached to it but really fun none the less.

My suggestion is to pick up the original and start playing it, you have while until you can get to the expansion material anyway. If you make i to 60 I'd say you like the game enough to buy the expansions.

*oh and response to the comment above that says WoW players have no friends is bull haha I started in highschool and didnt tell anyone, believe me nothing changed. Kids that are like declared wow players and like ahve WoW folders and bring their laptops to school to play everyday at recess or something, they have no friends

WoW is theoretically a game that you can enjoy very casually, but not fully. If you really want to experience high end raiding, which is ultimately what the game is about, you will have to sacrifice 4 or 5 evenings of your week. Which sucks and is really not worth it, even though I myself am doing it, just because I have nothing better to do.

Why not merely invest in any CCG? Vampire: The Eternal Struggle (GREAT 4 - 8 CCG), M:TG (Great 2 - 4player CCG but a larger sink of money because they keep outdating their editions and you can't play 6th edition because 9th edition is out etc)), 7th Seas, or any other you find appealing?

At least you'll have something tangible.

buy a gym membership instead. When I thought of all the time I spent on that game I realized if I was exercising half as much I'd probably look like the Hulk only pinkish and blonde.

Try nightfall, it has more content and helpful NPC's. I could try and find my free trial key if you want.

I already have had NF for a year, just can't bother to complete the campaign.
