with those specs you posted, I say go for the 360. I'm a PC Gamer myself, but I personally would not recommend it unless you're willing to commit to upper tier right components right now. Yes, $500 builds are viable, but with a Radeon 6670? You'd barely get 30 fps on Metro 2033, let alone Crysis 1. True, you can cut out DX11, lower the resolution and texture quality, disable anti-aliasing, and then what? You'd end up with XBox360-level graphics.

On the other hand, if you plan on MMORPGing, or play Team Fortress 2, those specs would be sufficient.

Wait... even with the improved gaming performance, better DirectX integration and optimization, much better windows explorer and task manager, the fact that it demands less from your hardware than windows 7, the very good integration with social networking services, the built in video player that actually handles more than .wmv .avi and .m4v, the built in music player that supports many more formats, the client Hyper-V and the fact that they did a very good job of replacing the start menu on the first try you say there is NO good reason to go with windows 8?
I'll give you the improved task manager (it is a huge improvement, and it should have been done two operating systems ago) and the somewhat increased performance (although it probably won't make all that much of a difference for a vast majority of people as far as gaming is concerned). But for the rest of the things, I'll just say that you and me value very different things in an operating system.

In my gut, my head, and in my heart I think you should get a 360.

This way there is one less person in the world who could possibly ask me to help them with their computer.

I read somewhere that minecraft might not be able to run on windows 8 (Notch's decision). Do you know if this is true? If so I will be looking for windows 7.
No idea, but Windows 8 is pretty fucking dubious so I wouldn't doubt it. Definitely go with 7 wherever possible.
Minecraft can run fine on Windows 8, as can almost all games.

Windows 8 is a fine operating system, and runs perfectly. Change is a good thing.
