For a really long time I've been considering buying an N64.
I have about 350 extra dollars (US) which I currently plan on spending on a PS3
when the price is dropped next month.
I played the N64 before and I loved it but if I get it I'll have to wait a few months until I
can get a PS3 and vice versa.
So my question to you Escapist's is what console should I get?
EDIT
I just figured out my PC is to weak to run the emulater.
EDIT again
I downloaded the emulater and a game and now I can't find them in my documents but theyre
taking up space what do I do?

The 64 is great, but really, if you have a chance to get a PS3 then get it instead.
Unless the 64 comes with every single good game ever made. This isn't much of a contest to me.

umm your joking right. PS3 sure the n64 had its moment but it will get boring without any new games. But that is my opinon.

N64. It's packed with classics(But don't listen to my opinion, this is coming from a former Nintenfag).

Whilst I would love to recommend an N64 to you, it almost seems a bit redundant when you can get many of its best games for free on the internet.
The PS3, on the other hand, is the newer console, which for me makes it seem as if this is an easy option.

Some part of it will probably be broken when you get it, or after a week or to. Those analog sticks on the controllers are for once not exactly lasting material.

But it do indeed has a solid line up of games that can be considered "best games evar".

You could just get an emulator off of the internet for free if you wanted.
Bingo, every game you could want at a click of your finger, its like a 10 year old system so that means pirating it is okay :)

The N64 is still one of the best systems ever made. If you don't have one I highly recommend it. Even if you don't at lest do yourself a favor and play it's games, you owe it to yourself.

Yeah, sadly I can't recommend the N64 over an emulator and a 360 controller for the PC.

Fact is neither Nintendo or any of the people involved are going to get any cash from you buying an overpriced antique, so get the PS3, enjoy it, and grab an emulator.

Old consoles and games are generally horrifyingly overpriced so don't feed the sharks.

Here is a short run-down:

PS3
-actually has games coming out for it. (big plus)
-expensive
-free online play
-internet browser

N64
-is free with an emulator
-has a decent stock of good games
-isn't that costly if you actually buy a real one
-games could be a little hard to track down
-no games coming out for it (big problem)

I don't remember the N64 having so many great games and it's almost 13 years old. Buy a PS3 if you want.

I suppose you could get an emulator but...
trust me, the most intense 30v30 online match does not even come close to getting 3 mates round playing Golden Gun mode on GoldenEye.
You will not regret buying an N64.
