I've been thinking of saving up for a console, naturally it would be an xbox since you can get them cheaper second hand (please no flame wars here )

I've been very happy with being a PC, and have been considering weather or not its worth getting a console, I guess for convinience, being a little easyer to track down slightly older games (I've really wanted to try gears of war but can't find PC copy) and also being able to trade in ect

Though I don't feel totally comfortable playing games on the couch (I know weird) and then it complicates things, do I get it for PC or Xbox? as far as FFPS I;m really retarded with dual joysticks

And will I need some giant HD monstrosity of a tv to be able to use it? my tv is kinda small

I guess my main concern is there being a fewer selection of titles for the pc, I'm not big on RTS multiplayer or MMO's or anything online

oh and I wouldn't touch kinect with a ten foot pole at gunpoint

If you own a PC already, get a PS3 instead of the xbox.
Very easy to port from xbox to PC so it happens for nearly all games.

PS3 still has some good exclusives.

If you have a PC already, stick with it. Especially if you like multiplayer: you'll have to pay a subscription for that with an xbox.

What consoles do your friends have, what sort of games are you looking for, what kind of TV do you currently have, etc.

Not enough info in your post to give any decent advice.

I wouldn't get an Xbox, you should go for the Xbox 360 though! (yeah bad joke)

You don't need an abnormally big tv so that's okay, and if you don't feel comfortable with sitting on a couch buy a chair.

In this day and age I would personally go for the Playstation 3 though. (lots of games there I like)

P.S. Spell check is your friend.

I have both a 360 and PS3. In both cases you don't need an HDTV for the games to be playable. However, some graphics and writing/details are muddy or unreadable on SDTV's.

As to which console you get, it's really just a matter of preferance. I enjoy games across both consoles. And both have their strong points and games.

as I put in my edit my tv is relitivly small, and My main concern over this is fewer titles for the PC, I'm not really a fan of MMO's, RTS or online multiplayer

Okay from that we've answered 'what consoles do your friends have' since you don't care for multiplayer. 'Kinda small' isn't a type of TV. Is it HD or a big ol' fat TV? The size doesn't matter much but if you're playing a 360 through a scart lead then most games will have text that's too small or blurry for you to read.

The 360 has a lot of games out and the older ones are good yet really cheap nowadays. If you can get a second hand 360 on the cheap then there's no reason not to (Aside from the fact that as an old 360 it's probably gonna RROD on you sooner or later).

You can easily connect your X-Box to your PC monitor and game in HD, you don't need to buy a HDTV.

I've found that with the 360 resolution is a lot more important than screen size, so you'll be fine using your PC monitor.

Even though more often then not games are ported across Xbox and Ps3 and will often skip right over PC. If a game goes multiplatform its more likely to go cross console before it gets to a PC

If you don't use a joystick on your PC, the console will be a very different experience for you, that, once you get used to it, you'll really enjoy. I do all sorts of gaming, but like consoles best as I want to sit in my comfy chair, snack and use the 360 controller, which, to my mind, is the most comfortable controller ever.

Treat yourself! Go for it! (And get yourself a 26" LCD when you get a chance. You'll thank yourself.
I did use a controller (pretty much a clone of the xbox one) for assasins creed which I found very comfortable to use (the default keyboard/mouse I found was very awkward since the controller broke) But I think I;m fine with a controller except for FPS

If you have a PC keep that, but for choice then personally I'd say the Xbox as it's cheaper and has a lot more variety and it's better for casual gaming than the PS3.

Granted they are both good consoles I think you'll be more satisfied with the Xbox, but one thing to note is Xbox Live Gold does cost yearly but it is worth it cause there's a plethora of things to do online.

As for TV, size doesn't really matter ;)

Where are you from anyway? I'm in the UK and plenty of places sell Gears for the PC.

Australia, also part of the reason I;m not into online as the internet here is...less than perfect

Are you into RTS games? If you are, stick with your PC. If not, get a 360. It has plenty of damn good games, even if you can't play FPS games on it (you're missing out there, Halo's fun). The online service is quite cheap, really, for what it does.

Plus you don't have to worry about your PC not being high-spec enough to handle some games.

True, but still get the PS3.
It has those cross platform 360/ps3 titles and more exclusives.
There's 360/PC ports, 360/ps3/PC ports, but no ps3/PC ports that I've heared.

Stay with the PC, I prefer any type of games on it, and find the few PC exclusive ones are better than the Console exclusive ones.

I have a 360 and it's bipolar with me because it is old. Recently it won't play any of my games so I am angry at it. I start up the game and it just freezes. Overall I am satisfied with it. I'm not much of an online player, but there are a lot of games that have good single player. If you aren't looking for that much online play with good single player I'd go PS3 because it's free and there are a lot of good games on the system.
