You don't need a big, HD tv.
I've got an old TV from 2004 and my 360 plays on it. Costed me 150$ at a Pawn Shop. lol I saw it for 150$, I had money, I had the PS3 and Wii... I was like:
"Oh, baby!"
The 360's okay, but I really think you need to ask yourself, what do you want in a Game console?
Look at the library of games for 360, if there's a deffinate sign it has what you're into in decent ammounts, then go crazy.
I don't use mine as much, as I haven't found many games for it that appeal to me that aren't on PS3. And it's more easier for me to leave the PS3's av output in, then remove it and put the 360's in when I wanna play a game.
The console also does play movies, so that's a nice advantage. Though I preffere the PS3, it just has better controls, looks nicer and I'm not sure about 360, but if you turn the movie off, then let it load before you take the disc out, whenever you re-insert the movie, it'll load it from where you left off. Wich is heaven for me. Something I didn't like about DVD's over VHS was that if you had to go and take the movie out of the machine, you lost that spot then had to fidle your way to said place.
Anyways, back on topic.
The 360's something you should look into if it's genre of games appeals to you.
