Should I get Fallout New Vegas?

I really enjoyed Fallout 3 (one of my favourite games actually). Yet, I'm afraid that the newest game may be too much like the third. Is it worth the purchase? Or should I rent it.

Yeah, I've been hearing a bunch of issues concerning that; yet, my friends keep on pressuring me to get it

Honestly, I've heard sides on the extremities of the board. Some say they have seen little to no glitches, some... Aren't so lucky.

I'd just wait until Christmas, when everything is hopefully sorted out.

It's worth it if you can get past the few small prevalent bugs that they have within the game. I am enjoying the story much better than the fallout 3, the sidequests feel a lot more like the have a point and make a difference, the gameplay is just as fun as Fallout 3 was but with more guns, and everything seems to just work better story and worldwise.

It is not entirely new, as it is on the same engine and the core gameplay is the same. But there is enough new features and content to qualify as more than an expansion. Personally I believe it is worth purchasing. It is also quite long so you would have to rent it for quite a while if you wanted to play the whole thing. I hear there is 50+ hours of content.

And yes, the bug issues are quite serious. There are many problems, most of which are being patched but aren't fixed yet. This is especially problematic for PC players as the bugs could make the game actually unplayable.

If you can stand the bugs, you'll have a ball with the game. It plays like Fallout 3, but it just feels like Fallout 1/2. Traits, skill checks in dialogue other than Speech, Wild Wilderness, 1 perk per 2 levels, returning characters from F1/2 (primarily 2), etc.

I'd say get it and deal with the bugs. My boyfriend, our roommate, and I are doing kind of a group playthrough and it's amazing. "It's like Fallout 3 but with more incentive to explore and care about the storyline," quoth my roommate.

I definitely recommend the Wild Wilderness perk too. It's so much fun when weird stuff happens.

You know what, if you enjoyed Fallout 3 that much despite its own myriad of bugs then yes, buy this game immediately.

I probably logged 300+ hours in F3 and I can say, with no exaggeration, that New Vegas is a far superior game in nearly every aspect to Fallout 3. I haven't even beaten the game yet and it's that apparent.

I've experienced a few crashes, one follower glitch, some NPCs acting funny, and one quest out-of-order. In my mind the problems have been overshadowed by how much better the dialogue and wit has been. F3 was more of a depressing game, in NV there quite a bit of humor laced throughout.

Yeah, they totally should have delayed the release to squash lots of bugs, but fuck it...still a great game IMO.

Personally, I am leaning towards in purchasing the game. I wont jump to conclusions at this instance, it can wait. Hopefully, from what I'm hearing, that the bugs will be fixed. I can handle a bug here and there, just don't want to play a broke game. I'll probably get it later on at Christmas.

You wouldn't imagaine how much they talk about it, it's actually very annoying. Even more so, it's more annoying when I have to hear them talk about a bunch of stuff when I have no idea of what's going on.

its a great game, the theme and spirit of the originals is much more evident, but yeah, its in dire need of patching.

It's very glitchy at the moment.

The recycling of the game engine from Fallout 3 pretty much in its entirety makes New vegas feel more like a massive DLC pack than an actual new game...

Not to say it isn't fun. If you liked Fallout 3 this is just as good if not better.

I'm not buying the game till sometime in Christmas. A large amount of bugs and glitches in the game would be fixed by then.

For lack of a better way to say this: "Try before you buy!" Seriously though, Gamefly is actually really nice to have. If you don't have an account, wait until you hear that the bugs, which I am actually not coming across, are fixed. Or just buy a used copy, that's what I did. But about the game itself: I LOVED "Fallout 3", and I am LOVING "Fallout New Vegas". It really is more than just "Fallout 3" with a Vegas coat. While it does share similarities, it is it's own game.

If your problem is that it may be too much like the third then don't get it.

It is a lot like FO3, which is why I've liked it so far. I never really have too much of a problem with a game playing a lot like another good game as long as both games play well. Bugs haven't been a problem for me either (I actually haven't played the game that much). But if you don't think you want to play a game too similar to FO3 then you should rent it instead. Also, if bugs are a very serious issue, rent it for that reason too.

I find that the combat, the faction system, and the choices you get in missions make the gameplay more enjoyable than Fallout 3.

I personally haven't experienced many bugs, if you are as lucky as I apparently am it is very enjoyable, but if you aren't it will probably be pretty bad.
